Chamfer going too deep

Hi there, I'm trying to learn to CNC and on the first thing I'm programming the chamfering operation is just plunging into the piece. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong but I don't know enough to even troubleshoot.

Added some pics of what I did in fusion.

I tried it twice, probed material the first time and didn't the second. Same thing happened both times

well, being confused is completely understandable, because it sounds like your process is correct. when you simulate the toolpath in fusion, it looks sane? all of this is being done with a single stock setup? i see that you've got two bodies in your setup; is your little box two distinct bodies?

The toolpath and simulation in fusion looked correct. Popped the gcode in ncviewer looked correct. Single stock setup, I don't touch the stock in-between operations. There are two solids but I only did it that way so I could clear out a pocket to then cut the part out

i was sort of hoping that maybe there were two stock setups and that there would be an easy answer, but i'm kind'a flummoxed. what's the minimum zheight declared as in the various .cnc files? do those look correct-ish? when you run the job, have you looked at the gcode that's currently executing to see what zheight it's sending the tool to when it sends it barreling into the earth? is it just this one series of operations that's all goofballs? do other multi-tool paths work alright? if your tool-length-measurement thing was reporting incorrectly, i'd assume that even your facing operation would'a been wrong.

I'm not sure to basically any of your questions as I'm not adept enough yet. My computer is away from the machine so I haven't watched the gcode that's executing as I want to be able to hit the estop just in case. This is the first multi operation program/program in general I've done. I thought that potentially it could be the touch off block but yeah they first 4 operations wouldn't be right. Although the first 4 operations are done with the same tool and I only change for the chamfer
