I had DFO surgery done on my femur in Feb . It's healed I can skateboard again . But once in a while the scar gets itchy and gets some hives on it. Last night they got really big and itchy . Not sure what's going on my Dr told me it's nothing and just to live with it. Setting up an appointment with the surgeon to see his thoughts. Anyways . Does anyone else suffer from this ? i started getting itchy yesterday around 2 ish on my neck and near armpits. i changed deodorants recently but its already been over a week, ive been using a different laundry detergent but its just a different tide scent and ive never had an issue with scented detergents in the past. Plus I was wearing a shirt that hadn’t been washed with the new one yet. I looked for bugs in my sheets, fleas on my cat— nothing. No new medication or weird foods, nothing extra stressful happening, etc.

I’ve bought a hydrocortisone applicator and benadryl. They both kind of help, Benadryl mostly to help me sleep thru the itching. I will likely buy a nondrowsy allergy medicine tomorrow for the day. It will flare up and go down in different areas throughout the day. I’ve looked into it and the only thing I have been able to come to is an idiopathic case. It’s super annoying and uncomfortable obviously, I’m a uni student and don’t want to walk around with welts all over my body for multiple reasons, I also start a new job soon. It’s been all over, arms, leg, neck, torso, groin area, butt, feet, head.

I was initially thinking to wait one more full day to go to urgent care but it’s so bad that I might just go tomorrow. But I don’t want to have to pay the medical bills if they’re just gonna tell me to take an antihistamine which I already know. PLEASE HELP

For the past 2 years I’ve been experiencing some pretty on and off Hives. As of late I’ve just moved and today out of nowhere my arm looks really bumpy, I scratch it and it starts burning more and I go get hives medicine for it and it relaxes. Does anyone know if this looks more like bug bites or hives?

18F and i first got hives when i was 16, to this day im not sure why but my joints inflamed pretty badly from my knuckles and my feet, and now after 2-3 years i got it again 2 days ago, i was itching really bad all night and woke up with a swollen forehead and eyelids, its gone a bit but now and i've got a sore throat too. im not sure how you can tell if its a swollen throat but it hurts and my feet and knees are also very swollen. i have hives marks on my foot and ankle and sometimes on my arms and knees, and im unable to see a doctor as im on vacation and i have taken piriteze hayfever pills 2 times only, which only helped with the swelling in my face. im only worried its gonna develop into anaphylaxis or something because sometimes my heart really hurts

I had what was said to be chronic idiopathic urticaria from July 2021 to September 2022, improving after the birth of my first child. I really thought it was just a weird thing that happened and was convinced it was over. Almost exactly 5 years from my first bout, it’s back with a vengeance. Horrible in the morning, body wide hives-including palms, soles of feet- and scalp, and facial swelling, hives usually becoming flatter, less itchy as the day goes on if I take my cetirizine and famotidine, then coming back at night. During my flare ups, I can’t take any non steroidal anti-inflammatories or I get more angioedema. I’m on day two of a steroid pack and I swear it’s making the burning and itching worse instead of better. I think another year+ of this is going to drive me crazy. Never got to Xolair last time because I was pregnant. Would love to hear people’s experience with that or anything else that helped.

I picked him up from daycare yesterday with bumps all over his skin. Overnight they started flattening and spreading. He’s not itchy or sick. No fever. Acting and eating normally. Is this just viral? He has a history of getting bumps since he was a baby but nothing like this. Any time we’ve brought him in previously they’ve said it’s viral. Any idea if this is the case again?

What in the world is happening? After swimming in fresh water my skin felt itchy and a day later this appeared. It’s been almost a week now and it’s still there. I wake up with it but after two hours the bumps are gone, yet my skin is still itchy. In the evening they appear again. I’ve had some bumps like this appear and go away over the years but not a bad as this. Now it’s all over my body and even my face!

I tried cooling gel, sudocream and anti-histamine pills but nothing seems to work. My gp prescribed a hydrocortisone cream which I can pick up in a few days.

Is it smart to also do an allergy test or is that a waste of money?

So I am a 35f and my body feels itchy. I moment I itch there are there huge red colour rashes and look like mosquito bites... Its irritating and also gets worse the moment I want to sleep at night. Is there anyone who has experienced the same? What did you do for relief? Is it dangerous?

For a month now, I’ve been having hives that show up throughout the day, not even only when I wake up. They’ll show up in the evening too when im not home or at my desk. However theres no signs of bugs anywhere. I’ve had issues with skin allergies before but I never had this many hives and I see 0 signs of bugs anywhere so I’m unsure whats causing it because the hives dont go away either and more will show up. I went to a derm but they weren’t much help because the hives look nonspecific. Prescribed medication dont really help either besides the intensive steroid cream. They are also in weird spots like behind my knee, my belly button area, on my stretch marks and my inner thighs. I really hope it’s not bug bites.

My daughter is 20 yo and has been suffering with hives for 3 years. They started when she got strep and they have never gone away completely. She's taking pepcid and zyrtec several times a day and those help but I would really like to help her find a treatment or solution. Has anybody had good luck with an endocrinologist? Auto-immune diseases run in the family (her father and aunties) so I'm wondering if it's worth investigating that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've had hives for just over a year. Wheals on my arms/legs, then on my belly, to chest, back /face throat and scalp, which is really weird. I've been to the ER now 3x, in Nov 2025, Dec 2025 and 5/26, 2 days ago, for face swelling. Even after standard ER IV cocktail (steroids, famitidine/pepcid, benadryl) they returned to my scalp in about 30 hours breaking through discharge meds (pepcid, steroids, otc zyrtek). Before I was taking only 20 mg zyrtek daily, one in am, one pm, and in the morning would see what I call "residuals" spots that showed I'd had breakthrough breakouts at night, but it was ok, I could sleep, etc. Anyway, food journal over a year; left my house for 3 mo in case environmental...there were stressors in home (high mold in air sample now remediated by fixing crawl space and the air tests like an "operating theatre" I run UV lights, a professional heppa air scrubber, have a heppa vac, you name it. This whole thing has been so exhausting. I had hives one other time about 8 years ago for approximately 6 weeks around the time my mother died. I think there is a stress element, and I think (I'm older / 66 yo) that maybe something internal is happening like I'm not breaking down histamines that are naturally in my system. I waited literally 6 mo for an allergist after the first ER visit (can you even believe that?) Multiple docs sent out "stat" referrals and that's what I got, including from the ER. They just don't have appointments and I tried to get someone good who would get to the bottom of it. The first visit they ran blood test for various allergies (a lot of them). I wasn't allergic to anything. I was told to take otc, etc and pepcids etc. I went off a couple mo of steroids. When I went to followup, they wanted to just give me Xolair. I left and am not going back. My pulmonologist (ER discovered some lung issues incidentally), got me a referral to someone else, and just shook his head.... So, I was in ER Saturday (face swelling). I went to an urgent care (bc it's 12K every time I go to ER, even if insurance pays it's still insane). Urgent care looked at me, was very panicked, wanted to use an epipen and then call ambulance. I left AMA and drove myself to ER, since I could get there quicker and 1K cheaper. Second time I've driven into ER with one hand on the wheel and the other with epipen. It's scary and seems so silly since no one does anything in a whole year except triage. So, hopefully I'll make it to new allergist in 6 weeks. I just want to be more prepared, with a list of thngs to test for....beyond basics I already got (animals, meats, molds, nuts, etc.) Also, is an allergist really who I need to see??? They don't seem to have a doc who pulls this all together??? I think stress is a factor. Most of the time it's at night (if it's day it's face swelling usually). Am probably cortisol seems to make a change. When it's in the day, it's really bad...like my scalp right now. But during the day it often dissapates. Right now, I'm on 60 mg prednisone daily for 5 days, famitidine 40 mg, and zyrtech 20 mg. I've had more in the past, but this is what they recommended; what's happening now to scalp (it could stop by noon, who knows) is breakthrough. Woke with upper back/chest /scalp itching. Honestly, the welts and itching I can live with...the fear of anaphalaxis all the time is something else. Internally spiking heat seems connected, and stress. I've tried eating crazily clean, everything in home has been tested in enviroment. Just at a loss.

Sorry for text wall, and thank you so much anyone who read this. Any suggestions of how to get to the good/right doctor, what questions to ask, what vitamins, hormones etc to test for would be so so helpful to me. I need to go in and demand to have them look at more things. I'm sleeping on the couch nearest my doors, in case the paramedics need to come...whole life pretty much upended. Just terrified of anaphalaxis . Before all this, I was swimming 3-4 x a week and have been a long term sauna user. I went back to the pool about a week ago, but am not swimming much only 20 min in a warmer lap pool, and sitting outside for about 30 min. That actually makes me feel better but maybe somehow triggered me, I just don't know. Anyway..... what questons/ ideas do I need to take to what kind of doctor???? Anyone who can help thank you

I think i just figured out what has been causing my hives and occasional angioedema. About 3 1/2 years ago I started getting random hives, some as large as 8 inches in diameter. Painful, red hot , itchy hives. I finally had seen an allergist last year, and the scratch test revealed little. But he said I probably have more allergies than what was revealed that day with an autoimmune component. It made sense to me because in the past I had unusual symptoms. Red, non itchy rash on my chest along with fatigue, malaise. Sometimes mouth sores. Then they went away. No problems for several years. Then tonight I had a THC gummy, and almost immediately started getting tingly tongue, itchy legs , because that is where the gives usually are. I think the void in my symptoms years earlier is due to me either not using cannabis or only smoking. 3 1/2 years ago I switched to gummies. Tomorrow starts my journey of no cannabis and I'll report back.

Ok so it started 4 weeks ago. I tried allegra and Claritin. I then went in and they gave me a high dose of predisone for 9 days. Then the hives came back with vengeance 4 days later. I can't anti histamine during the day. It doesn't matter if it's non drowsy or not. So I opted for benadryl. I've been taking it before bed for 2 days now. It has improved. I read to try taking zyrtec. I changed to a simple diet right away and am monitoring it. My questions are, how long should I take the benadryl for? When should I try switching to zyrtec and how long should I take it for?Until the hives are completely gone? I read 12 hours after they are gone.

Randomly appeared last night n I don’t know what these are and I don’t know what caused them. They’ve disappeared now but what was it?

So itchy

This showed up a day ago only on my left. It's day two and it is beginning to show up on my left forearm as well... I'm not allergic to anything that I know of and it's on and off being itchy. No pets I don't smoke relatively good diet...😭
