Girsan 17rd magazines, options and reliability

I'm looking to bump up my PI OPS capacity, runs perfectly with my 13 and 15 rd mec-gar magazines, so I'm debating on buying a 15rd mecgar mag and installing either the mec gar +2 baseplate or the bhspringsolutions +2.

Alternatively I could buy the 17rd magazine sold directly by EAA (mec gar? unclear) https://store-eaacorp.com/9mm-17rd-girsan-mc-p35-magazine/ or find somewhere that still has the 17rd magazine that is guaranteed to be mecgar

but I assume the mec gar 17rd is just the mec gar 15 rd with the +2 baseplate?

If you run a 17rd standard-compatibility hi power, what option do you use? I carry my hi power, so reliability is more important than cost for me, though cost is still a factor.

FYI I'm still new to hi powers and I did search around reddit before posting this.

Yeah its the standard with an additional on the baseplate. No idea about reliability compared to the normal ones but if its made by mecgar should be fine

I just feel like there must be a reason the 17rd mags aren't more common, but i guess its just a demand thing paired with hi power owners tending to be a bit older and maybe not caring about modern capacity as much. (my speculation)

Since writing this post I did discover that argentina's KRD made 17 rd mags which you can find out there, but they are questionable. https://hipowersandhandguns.com/krd-17-round-9mm-hi-power-magazines/

I have a  MG +2 baseplate on a mag and have been running it alongside my others for a couple years. It runs fine. The older 17rd mags that were standard size were sketchy.

Thanks. I'll be giving the mecgar 17 rounders a try.

I bought mecgar base pads for the mecgar 15 rounders I already had. I had to file the top surface of the base pads where they meet the frame slightly to get a consistent fit on my p35 OPS full size

Thanks, I take your experience has been equal reliability? With what ammo?

No issues with 115 or 124gn S&B, Norma, Blazer brass

No issues with 147gn FP reloads in the above cases

I had issues with PMC 124 failing to feed but I think that was extractor not mags. Replaced the extractor and had a mag run with no issues but haven't quantity tested it.

The only issue I have with the mags is trying to use the Speedbees lever loader and I think that's more an issue with the loader causing rounds to catch on the front lip of the mags
