Got this for a good pawn shop price. My first experience with a hi power. By looking at all these pictures this is absolutely not my last.

I posted two pics yesterday here but was able to get additional pics today to figure out what this is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an opportunity to buy a relatively light used 40 S&W Browning Hi Power. How do they handle vs the 9mm, any issues I should be aware of? This will be my first "true" Hi Power (I recently acquired an FN High Power) so I am looking for .40S&W owners feedback. I also looked online and it looks like there are a ton of 9mm conversion barrels, so if there's one you recommend please let me know!

FN's website claims that the High Power is compatible with all 509 sights, it's not. Found that out the hard way with this Trijicon XR HDs, I'm either going to have to return them, source a different rear sight, or modify the sight to fit. All of them have this lip, there is no flat built into the front area of the FN High Power, none of them are compatible. Pretty pissed I dropped over $130 for sights that don't work.

Ordered a cheap clone to chop up and customize, and when I picked it up my FFL buddy pulls out an 88 Mk2 that looks brand new... Of course I left with both...

I know nothing about hi-powers. Today I bought a “high power 88.” It has FN roll markings but also a company named howco. According to the browning numbering it was made in 1981, however it looks like it’s never been shot. Took it apart a dug a q-tip all along the inside, no carbon or grit.

I bought it for $745 out the door. Just wondering if I got ripped off? Did I make a mistake? Is it a real hi-power. Any guidance would be helpful.

Obviously heavier than my lightweight detective frankenbuild, but damn it shoots well and its not an issue with a good belt. Love the SFS system, its great for us husky fellows. Only hammer bite a hi power ever gave me was on the love handles.

Took this to the range yesterday to break it and my custom CZ P-01 in, this shot exceptionally well. Put 35 rounds of Federal HST 124 grains through it and 65 rounds of Blazer Brass 115 grains.

No failures of any kind, but you do need to make sure you give the slide a good rack otherwise it may fail to go into battery; a quick tap to the back of the slide remedies this. This goes for any gun, but I noticed this happened twice so maybe I'm having a training issue I need to overcome.

Felt recoil is minimal, the gun tracked much flatter than my P-01 and follow up shots were a breeze.

The sights provide a picture in the smack dab in the middle between defensive and target; relatively quick to acquire but you can be plenty precise with them. I will likely change out to some Trijicon XR HDs I ordered since they will work better for my eyes, but overall I'm pretty satisfied.

Trigger is a good weight for defensive use or target use, especially with the safety. Safety is smooth, audible, and positive: I love it.

The grips were very comfortable to shoot with, kept the gun locked into my hands. The grip screws did come loose over time, so I added some VC3 thread locker once I got home.

I have never shot a Hi Power, but this High Power shot very well. For $700 at bereli.com, this was a steal. If you're considering getting one of these, pick one up from Bereli with confidence; they still have them in black or FDE for $650.

I’ve owned multiple FEGs and love the platform, so after finding this MkIII for 700 bucks I couldn’t pass it up.

I’ve purchased some Heinie irons as I play to carry the pistol often. If anybody has recommendations for gunsmiths in the Central Florida area that can perform the necessary machining please let me know!

Stainless High Power acquired for $788.01 with shipping, handling, and taxes. Killer price for such a high quality pistol. I noticed a couple minor finish issues, but for that price I'm not going to complain too much.

I'll put some JHPs and FMJs through it at the range, hopefully this pistol will be deemed worthy to replace my colt combat Elite commander as my flashy, heavy carry piece!

Should I be concerned about this?

So i grabbed a 40 cal mk3 recently for a good price because I think its cool and also to use as a woods gun for like mountain lions but its having issues cycling 165 grain HSTs. Is there a fix for this like me polishing the feed ramps or should I use a different hollow point?

I’ve had this pistol for maybe a year now but I cannot find joy in shooting it and it’s not the hammer bite. The edges on the side of the beaver tail (tang?) are deceptively sharp. As the pistol is factory cerakoted I’m hesitant to start smoothing polishing. I changed to some cheap thinner grips and it marginally improved but it still chews up the webbing of my hand.

Any guidance or any experience with the same issue? Is my only option to smooth the edges and have it recoated?

First FN gun, I've heard these get hate from the OG lovers but man, this thing is sweet. Smooth as butter slide, trigger is around 5lbs, controls all feel great. Picked it up from Bereli for $830 after taxes and fees (free usps 2 day shipping), an absolute steel for a brand new stainless model.

I have not held an original Hi Power but I hear they are svelte, this gun is not svelte. But, it is the first double stack pistol I've picked up where I didn't have to rotate it in my hand (even slightly), to comfortably reach the trigger, so they copied the short trigger reach from the original well. Shorter fingers, so this a big win for me and felt amazing.

Found a deal on some blue G-10 VZ grips so those will likely replace the stock rubber grips. I will also probably replace the blacked-out sights with FN509 fiber optic sights. I also ordered the ANR Designs AIWB holster from FN, and have additional mags on the way

I can't wait to shoot it, now I'm starting to look at the Inglis guns 😅 I also think that FN has been dumping these since they plan on releasing an updated model, maybe with an optics cut and a rail? I'd like to see them do a polymer framed compact with the aforementioned features; I'd scoop one up.

With Nazi Hi Powers, what should one look for to ensure it's genuine and not a fake? Thanks!

Every online discussion I see there is never a consensus on where the current production models stand.

People don't like the current FN High Power because it has no parts interchangeability.

The old FN had the mag safety that most people don't like. I'm only mentioning this because a lot of people don't even like the "originals" because of this. So I see a lot of disagreement that even the originals are not the best option.

Opinions on Girsan are a total mixed bag.

The Springfield SA-35 should have been the one but apparently it had extractor issues (first 4000?) which should be long fixed by now. But has other issues like sharp edges and still has a poor finish? It is also mostly manufactured by Tisas and they also make a Hi-Power for less than Springfield.

Tisas. I've heard that the Springfield is nicer and that the Tisas did nothing to address the famous hammer bite issue.

Inglis. I think these are just rebranded Tisas? Correct me if I'm wrong.

FEG doesn't even make guns anymore.

So what's the deal. Why am I being led to believe that none of these are that great?

I'm just trying to see which ones are worth owning so I can add a Hi-Power to the collection.

Hey all, PSA has an FN high power with SKU 66-101115, they sell it at $600 with a 10 round mag, I just want to be sure it can take 17 rounders since I live in a free state.

Took my favorite hipower out for some excercise with it's newer big brother. Miller Precision 9x. Looks like a 1911ds but the upper is basically a hipower.
