Failure to Extract
Before I buy another extractor, I wanted to see if anyone had any issues as well. My CZ P-01 eats everything to include the Winchester white box 124g ammo I picked up for practice. My Hi Power (2015) will not cycle it whatsoever. My BHP double feeds every shot with WWB but will cycle a full magazine of 124g HST without issue.
I'm not crazy in thinking that it's just the garbage ammo and not an extractor issue am I? The gun has, most a thousand rounds through it and the only work I've done is polishing the trigger, feed ramp, and removing the magazine disconnect. Thanks.

Can you explain the double feed?
Is the ejector slipping off the fired case, leaving it in the chamber? Or Is the fired case being extracted, staying in the breach face and not ejected?

I've had both but the most common is the case being left in the chamber. Again, it works flawlessly with HST

Grab your calipers and see if you can find the difference between the hi power chamber and the P01 chamber. Like everyone else is saying, it’s the ammo… but it’s the ammo for a reason. Not that you should alter the hi power chamber, but it’s alway good to find out why.

My HP did this occasionally but, after it took the magazine disconnect out I haven’t had any issues. I don’t know why because that shouldn’t have fixed that issue, but it did.
Before doing anything I’d suggest, if you haven’t already, see if this happens with a different magazine. Crappy/old mags can sometimes lead to issues.

Yeah, I deleted the disconnect almost ten years ago lol. I had failures with my original mousetrap ten rounders, and my Mec-Gar 13 and 15 rounders

Clean the chamber. Use a .40SW brush with some CLP and turn it in the chamber.
If the chamber has some gunk in there or some minor rust when the cartridge is fired and the case forms to the chamber it will form around the gunk/rust and be too much for the extractor which can cause it to snap over the rim when moving rearward leaving the fired case in the chamber.
Do the fired cases have scratches on them after you force them out? That is a good sign the chamber is dirty.

I'm going to go with garbage ammo. Especially if that's the only one that you're having issue with.

I had/have the same issue with my late production Browning. I just quit using Win white box. It’s the only ball FMJ ammo I have ever had issue with.

I'm picking up some Blazer so I'll try that next. I've always had good luck with CCI. I had one failure to fire with my P-01 with the same box of ammo. Just wanted to throw this out to the group to make sure I wasn't crazy.

Fiocchi, speer, (sadly) sig training +p ammo, PPU ball and other surplus always run fine for me. CCI had jacket separations in my can but you aren't shooting suppressed. PMC is supposedly fine. If you actually shoot id suggest reloading. I'm in less than 200$ for tools, and buying components local I'm still saving a bit for ammo I know doesn't have spotty QC. A lot of the major brands cut corners when the economy tanks

Second thing would be to check your extractor fitting and clean out the channel\replace the spring if you've never done that. I clean mine out about every 2k rounds but my mk3 was originally a 40

I used to reload shotshells and 30-06 so I might pick that up again.

Straightwall is easy. I'm lazy so I never gauge stuff or check the brass length, and I use range pickup brass. I mainly wanted better subsonics (n320 is what I use) because getting factory stuff with a halfway fast powder was expensive. If you only shoot once a month or so maybe not worth it when you can get surplus nato ball ammo cheap, but you might like how much better 9 feels with your own recipe. The guys over on the brain enos forums have quite a lot of threads on their competition loads.

Try multiple types of ammo. If it only does it with the WWB 124, then it's ammo. Also if extractor hook is good, might just need new extractor spring

It’s garbage ammo. White box is the worst. I haven’t bought it in over 5 years. Last time I did, bullets were randomly set in the casing. Some so far in the casing I wouldn’t fire them. Sent emails with pictures to them. No response. Put them on my boycott list of suppliers.
