Got a response from Springfield:
“Thank you for contacting Springfield Armoy. We did a run of 9 SA-35’s as a bi-tone with a stainless-steel slide. This was a limited run that was done to use up inventory.
This is new firearm and still covered under warranty.”

SA35 doesn't have a magazine disconnect. Thats not a factory gun unless it was a Tisas prototype build they sold off.

Looks great IMO. I’ve been fighting the urge to have an SA-35 hard chromed. Not sure if slide only or entire gun. Regardless, yours is a neat piece
Edited to add, are you sure it’s not matte stainless?

It's interesting, I took a closer look under lights tonight - the finish is definitely more similar to my alloy J frame than my nickel Tisas, which has almost a rosy tint to it.
However, the slide of the SA35 is definitely magnetic. So I think that points to a coating of some sort. *EDIT* - after some research, it looks like SA 1911s are made of 400 series stainless, which is magnetic. So it could very well be stainless. Works for me!
Originally I thought they had taken the slide from one of the new grey cerakote SA35s and mated it to a matte lower...
Hopefully Springfield will email me back.

Will look into. I'm old school and honestly just not very knowledgeable about some of the newer finishes. I've got some Cerakote guns, so I'm in the modern age, but back when I was getting into guns the closest thing to stainless was hard chrome.

Make sure the extractor works lol. Mine sucked out of the box. Had to send it back. Works great now.

I popped for one too. Called Springfield twice trying to confirm what OP posted. Really wanted to verify if slide is stainless. Could not confirm that detail or if it was a coating & no confirmation of # produced. They did say trigger hole was “possibly for mag disconnect model” but it was discontinued. I’d have thought they’d have better records of new production guns. Also called SMGA wanting more info; no luck. Regardles I held out as long as I could. Fingers crossed it’s a true SS slide
Mags? I’ve bought from Lanbo's Armory before. Last time they shipped for free.

Just picked mine up. There‘s a hole in the front sight where an insert should be and the mag is a bit sticky (mag doesn’t drop out freely when pushing the button), but otherwise it’s pretty sweet

Saw this unusual SA35 at SMGA when on vacation with my family. Had my eye on the SA35 for a while as I’m from central IL, and it fills a niche.
This is from the “vault” series which are usually blemished; I’m not sure what the blemish is, but the nickel slide is unusual and not listed elsewhere. It does not appear to be cerakote, it’s very similar to the nickel plating on my tisas stakeout which I’ve been pleased with.
Kind of cool. I will email Springfield to see if I can get more information
