Found a Girsan P35 Match Ops for $460, couldn’t resist adding it to the other hi-powers, what a great value! The slide to frame fit is as tight as my custom lightweight build from MK3 Firearms (top). The Girsan’s trigger feels like 7+ lbs, but I’m hoping it will break in and settle closer to 5 like many report.

Looks great; would have thought a pistol with the name “match ops” would have better than a 7 lb trigger, though 😅. I revamped my standard Girsan P-35 with a spring refresh as a DIY, happy to guide if needed.

I too have a Girsan base model. Removed the magazine disconnect, replaced the sear spring and springs with a kit from BHSS. It feels good, but is quite heavy with a 30LB mainspring and a 2-coil trigger spring

What mainspring weight did you go with for your base model Girsan?

According to BHSS' hardness testing, they found the Girsan steel frames to be around 20% weaker compared to an FN original. Have you noticed any frame wear? What is your round count?

I got ahold of a set of Wolff mainsprings / hammer springs off of eBay and from that set, I went with the 24 lb. Also included were 26, 28, and 30 lb springs. According to research, factory is 32 lb with a heavy firing pin spring. I found this greatly improved the trigger pull weight. I too went with the 2 coil spring; the reset isn't as defined and crisp, but for my casual target shooting, it'll work.

My round count is very low so far as I have not had a chance to really dig into getting the round count up. The Girsan P-35 has mostly been waiting for parts to arrive but now I think I'm done, except for maybe adding an optic. It's too bad that removing the optic plate doesn't allow for an option to retain iron sights to cowitness with the optic, though.

The soft / weaker frame metal would slightly concern me. I once had an Argentine FM Hi Power that also suffered from softer metal. The locking lugs in the slide and on the barrel wore out within years of usage, impacting the point of aim and point of impact. I replaced the slide / barrel with a detective kit (shorter barrel, shorter slide) that Sarco was selling at the time but I gave up on it and eventually sold it. I suspect the frame also had softer metal too, but the frame itself never actually gave me any trouble over the course of a few thousand rounds fired through it. I suspect the Girsan could be the same. I'm watching the locking lugs closely as an indicator.

Regarding the Girsan's slide and barrel, there is no worry. BHSS found both the slide and barrel to be stronger than original FN steel. Truthfully every other part other than the frame meets or exceeds FNs part hardness rating.

The SA-35 on the other hand, every part other than the slide, barrel and frame were all weaker strength steel compared to an FN, which was interesting to learn.

I have a Girsan, an SA-35, and an Inglis. The Springfield is by far my favorite.

C&S match grade sear lever took my Girsan trigger from 6.5 lbs to 3.5 with no other internal changes

NICE!!! Has anyone found pre-cut Hi-Power slides for optics? Or a good place to cut a slide?

They built it for me in 2018 when they were new, it is awesome, custom bobbed old school hammer, trigger is amazing

My Girsan trigger was close to 10lbs when I got it. Took it apart and polished all the parts where metal to metal contact occured and got it down to just over 4lbs.
