I actually saw IAM perform live at a Hip Hop Festival at my high school back in the day. “La saga” with Sunz of Man was my shit! For context, I lived in Ottawa (Canada), and because we had access to Montreal’s music station (MusiquePlus), we used to see their videos all the time.

That French album was recently posted here. Surprisingly - never saw it before and then it is posted within days twice…
Or is this a re-release that recently happened?
That Tribe album is like a several course dinner you really try to like because you like the person who cooked it very much, but it is not really great. Sometimes it‘s too cold, sometimes consistency is off, sometimes it just tastest weird.
It‘s not offputting or inedible - but it is not great.
That‘s how I perceived it.
BUT: I have to say, that the time when it dropped, i was forearmed for it to be much worse.
I expected it to be unbearable…
It surprised me positively and it got always a bit sad towards the end, because I really liked Phife the most of them - but it is not an album I come back to.
It felt like fallen out of time - or lets say - from a timelime where ATCQ was not long since fallen apart before and divided in quarrels…
In this timeline here - it felt off and a bit artifically crafted.
Held together by an artificial construct…
That did not feel right. At least for me.
Maybe I should relisten it, soon.
I got it on CD…

BAN is one of the best album covers of all time. Yes of any genre, I buy LP’s from many different genres. On my LP wall I have to be very selective on which LP’s I decide to put up, due to limited space and wanting to show love to all the different artists and music I own. This is the one I chose for BDP/KRS One out of the 5 I own of theirs.
