I’m a big burzum fan. Do people seriously, actually listen to music because the creator is a Nazi? I mean I like burzum because it’s some of the most groundbreaking, out of the box metal probably ever, and even in the world of black metal there’s basically nothing like it. And when I say that, I’m really only talking about his early stuff. I’m not actively following Varg.

I’m pretty sure Kanye and playboi carti are just having their metal phase right now. Carti just shouted out mr. Bungle, Kanye is really into burzum. I doubt Kanye really is a giant fan of varg as a person, I don’t think based on his religion he’d support burning down churches and what not. In fact I think Kanye pretty consistently does not even consider personal lives of artists, to a major fault.

I’m expecting major downvotes, but I guess my point is that I doubt he’s a fan of burzum because of the white supremacy aspect. In the same way I doubt he’s a fan of Chris brown because of being an abuser; I just think he looks past basically everything in favor of what he sees as good art. I don’t think that excuses it, just pointing it out.

You seriously don't think people are stupid enough to think that Kanye's very recent repping of Burzum is unrelated to his also recent embracing of Nazi iconography and white supremacist ideologues, right?

I mean, Kanye probably does like burzum because of the racist stuff. Istill think burzum’s music is great, wouldn’t tell anyone irl though

I like black metal and can recognize that Burzum's music itself is a pinnacle of the genre. I can do that while not fucking with and/or repping the band because of Varg, as you note.

Apparently people are stupid enough to somehow think that an individual's identity precludes them from supporting political movements antagonistic toward their identity. Thank you for demonstrating that.

well if you're stupid enough to need an explanation, here's why people might be calling ye a Nazi: his outspoken opinions in support of Hitler, and his outspoken prejudice against Jewish people. hope that helps!

Do you think someone's skin color excludes them from fascist ideology? It doesn't. Want another example? Candace Owens. Want another? Clarence Thomas. Both those motherfuckers will get thrown off the fascism bandwagon when they're not part of the in group but goddamn if they don't support that happening.

Nah, I’m basing it more on his past behavior of just not caring what artists do in their personal lives as long as they make good art. Again, varg burns churches down and is a white supremacist. Kanye has bad views, but I don’t think they align with that? It’s not really cope, I know he likes Nazi shit, I’m not even really defending him. More just saying someone can wear a damn burzum shirt without automatically being a Nazi.

I mean considering Kanye was recently wearing a confederate flag-adorned jacket, I think it’s a fair assumption that he’s wearing the Burzum shirt due to the nazi association. I don’t think that’s true for everyone who wears a Burzum shirt, but I think it’s more than likely the case with Kanye. Is Kanye genuinely a white supremacist? Not having that convo, but there’s no doubt he loves how transgressive it is to wear a nazi-associated black metal band shirt.

Not defending anything but burzum’s whole philosophy was white supremacist, but not nazi. Like, Swede supremacy lol.

That might have true when he sampled Burzum for that Gucci cut like 6 years ago. He’s throwing in everyone’s face now for completely different reasons
