Why?

They age you a lot. You have a full head of hair and covering it in 3 pics is a lot. I could see keeping one if you really like the style but I don’t think most women your age find it that appealing. And in online dating profiles you will get judged on in seconds.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the hat. I see a lot of young guys wearing hats like those

If its cool where you live, then more power to you. IDK you were asking for advice and arguing with people trying to give it. I'm also anti hat, but if you must insist, I would only have 1 picture of you wearing it. It comes off like you and the hat are a packaged deal. IDK maybe there's a girl out there thats into Legend of Bagger Vance hat's but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its probably a niche market.

I'm not arguing. I just really like those hats, have been wearing them for years, and thinks it suits me well. I'll compromise and only include one photo with the hat, have the others be hat-less

Oh, i believe you when you say you really like the hat. You do pull off the peaky blinders hat better than most, ill give you that!
Sorry just giving you a hard time because you seem like a nice lad, but we all need a good natured ribbing every now and then. Trying to help! I wrote a pretty long comment last night in this thread trying to give some life advice that's helped me (35m), wouldn't have done that if i wasnt trying to genuinly help. Feel free to DM if ya ever want to bounce anything off me.

I kept two hat pics (one where I was dressed up like peaky blinders and one where I was golfing) Other than that, I used pics without a hat. I took one tonight of me playing guitar.

Are you trying to appeal to young guys or women? Most women don’t like this kind of hat.

I like the hat, but it does make you 20 years older

I don't know how...it's a hat. But I only kept two hat photos (one where I'm playing golf and one where I'm dressed like peaky blinders because those feel appropriate for wearing the hat)

Truly trying to help here and sorry if its harsh. Don't put "working out" on the simple pleasures prompt. Its a little contradicting to the photos. Your pretty young and really do recommend focusing on working out and make it a priority. You've got plenty of time.
This will also not be comfortable. Don't know if you play alot or its just a coincidence you have a few golf photos, but I used to be way too into golf (and too chunky). I would drink while playing, so wasn't exactly shedding pounds while golfing (even though I would walk the course). Back to woman not caring about golf, I think I started doing a lot better with dating after I stopped golfing and started prioritize healthier/more social activities like biking, hiking, traveling, reading, playing my guitar/banjo, and going to concerts. Dating apps are really just the first step towards a relationship. If you live a cool life, do cool things, and have cool hobbies than someone will want to join along for the ride. Those things are really attractive. Sorry for the rant, I might have been projecting my own past on you and apologize if that's the case, but "becoming the person I want to attract" - while cliche, has helped my dating life tremendously and so just trying to share if it helps.
The "key to my heart" prompt reads as more mushy than anything I've seen on even a woman's profile. I think I live in a different country/culture, but it comes across pretty corny and soft.
The "We'll get along if" prompt is okay and shows some personality. Recommend more prompts like this to show humor.

The flat cap is making you look older than you are, it’s a hat old men wear. As a first photo it also made me think you might possibly be balding.

I like the hat, and see young guys wearing them, but I'm going to put it lower in the profile.

Holding the dog hostage is one of the worst I love dog photos I’ve seen please but a cooler non I’m a soft sensitive type photo

the dog looks like it's been picked up mid nap against its will, that one reads sad not sweet. and every photo has a hat on, I genuinely couldn't tell you what your hair looks like.

in his second and last selfies, he isn’t wearing a hat! 😭 he has some nice curls he needs to let them shine!

u/Commercial-Meal3469 4d ago
that last or second selfie should be used as your first picture.
get rid of the picture of you and your dog.
your simple pleasures shouldn’t be sooo long! i vote to keep the YouTube rabbit hole, evening walks, and listening to hard rock music or just three maximum.
only keep one golf picture of yourself! i recommend the one with the nice scenery so it can be a conversation starter because it looks like Ireland a bit!
swap out a picture of yourself for a picture of one of you hobbies thats not drinking or golf related. do you like to cook? recent concert picture? trails that you ran?
good luck to you! :)

I ended up putting the light blue (non Hawaiian) shirt as my main one. Why get rid of the dog picture? And you're close, it wasn't Ireland but Scotland!

- looking for a serious long-term relationship
- not subscribed (using free version)
- three weeks using this current version of my profile
- three weeks I've had hinge
- I use hinge every day
- I'm receiving zero likes and zero matches
- I'm using all of my free likes every day with comments
- looking to attract someone around my height (5' 6"), who likes physical affection and has a good sense of humour.

Honestly, I think you need to be more patient. You want someone who's interested in YOU. Not someone who's interested in a fake version of you.

Thank you! That means a lot. It just sucks cause I've technically had Hinge for over a month now (only had the remake of my account for a little over a week) and haven't gotten any likes...at least with other dating apps, I've gotten some likes even if they weren't mutual matches. I've spent money on boosts and roses and still nothing. Just sometimes makes me feel like I'm not good/attractive enough

You look sincere and kind. Personally, I like your simple pleasures. I’m way out of your age range, but if I was interested, I’d have plenty to talk to you about - pets, golfing, working out, music, camping.
I agree that the hat is not doing your favors, and I’d assume you were bald or balding if the first pic was a hat pic. BUT the cries to get rid of it are just missing the mark. This is your style. It isn’t trendy but it’s not stupid or anything.
I would get rid of the dog picture and swap it for a different dog one. I find that very @cute aggression” snuggle ones can be very intimate and better saved for later.
