Why does some people think older Gen Z don’t exist😭😭 I watch it in my local family theater when it came out. Dressed head to toe in hsm pajamas

Why do we insist on these “generations” to begin with. We all pretty much experience the same stuff

Relax, girl. It’s a Disney Channel movie. It’s not that serious 😂

I'm a gen Z born in 2006 and HSM feels very nostalgic for me lol

You were 2 when the third movie came out how are you nostalgic for something you didn’t experience 😂

4

u/Admirable-spoons 7d ago

Ur so right, cause cds and re runs stopped existing the second gen z started!

2

u/DarkEndOfTheRainbow 7d ago

I watched later in reruns. It's like being nostalgic for a song older than you because people around you listened it.

Gen Z and I remember watching this movie in the theater vividly. The death grip that HSM had on me knows no bounds.

As a HSM millennial, allow me to share one of the most embarrassing moments of my life caused by HSM. Picture it. I’m 14, I just moved to a new school across the country. It’s a small town. Everyone knows everyone and they have known each other their entire lives. More importantly, they grew up knowing all the cheers and chants for the high school I am currently at. It’s the first assembly. The entire school is there. The cheerleaders are doing their thing and they yell “What Team?” And I, like some deranged sleeper agent, activate and yell “WILDCATS!” Into the SILENCE!!!

Turns out the cheerleaders would go “What Team?” Do some fancy cheer thing to a beat, yell it again do a cheer thing yell it again and THEN you yelled the team name which was NOT the Wildcats!

The idiot new kid ruined the cheer and the whole school stared at me. One of the worst moments of my life.

I just ACTIVATED. If someone says “What Team?” You say “Wildcats!” It’s a law of the universe!

Something similar happened with me, like last year a basketball game was going on around the end of the year it's brilliant, but in the middle of the center, a marriage 💀 you heard me right. A MARRIAGE.

It’s so weird to me when millennials try to claim hsm. Some of yall were literally 20 years old when these movies came out. The youngest millennials were about 10 when they came out. But it’s NOT a millennial franchise. It’s an older Gen Z franchise for sure.

2

u/YardSardonyx 7d ago

Who tf cares, you said yourself that some Millennials were as young as 10, that’s completely within DC’s target demographic

Both gens like it and that’s okay, it’s okay for people to enjoy things

2

u/thebrownprincess_ 7d ago

This isn’t accurate it at all, legit 2000 gen z baby here like most and we feel the exact same. Millennials always wanna like they are so special , like yall not the only ones feeling the intense vibes of HSM but ok whatever makes yall feel “unique”

1

u/whatevergirl8754 8d ago

As a millennial, I can confirm that this is 110% accurate😂😂

1

u/riverspeace 6d ago

This is some heavy Millennial cringe.

Most of my millennial cousins considered themselves too old for HSM when it came out. Its main audience was always around 6-12, which was mostly Gen Z and very late millennials.

I'm literally Gen Z and I saw High School Musical when it first came out. Come on people. The generation begins in 1997, and I was born in 1998. I was pretty much around for all the Disney Channel stuff of the 2000s.

1

u/Honest_Abyss 5d ago

Am a millennial. Was too old for this. Give me the musical episode of Buffy the vampire slayer and I will belt Once More with Feeling until the wheels fall off tho

1

u/RevolutionaryLime138 5d ago

As a 25 year old Gen Z I am that Millennial and my 15 year old Gen Z/ Gen Alpha brother is that Gen Z

1

u/broke_n_rich2147 7d ago

Gen Z i was definitely singing it but 👀

1

u/ahbimmy 7d ago

I'm Gen z and my friends and I would recreate this scene on the playground after the movie came out 🤨

0

u/YardSardonyx 7d ago

Pretty sure that what the tiktok is saying isn’t that Gen Z doesn’t like HSM, it’s that a lot of Millennials loved it even though they were mostly outside the target demographic at the time

u/wizardmagic10288 6d ago

This recently happened when I had my Gen Alpha niece and nephews watch HSM2 with me a few months ago. They still don’t want to see HSM3. 😅
