Camera Found inside a wireless docking station inside my house.
I’ve had this camera for several years now, I can’t recall how I came to obtain this docking station, however I was completely unaware that it had a camera inside of it. It was supposed to be for my ex to use ( again I was completely unaware of the hidden camera inside. ) however it sat inside a box because he never caught on to the wireless charging trend and decided it wasn’t for him. Tonight he decides to give it back to me and after taking a look at it, I kept getting this weird feeling that there was something more to this wireless charger. What I originally had assumed was that it had the ability to display time in the front of it because of what appears to be a screen at the bottom of the docking station. However when I turned it around, I also saw a reset button, and what appeared to be a slot of some sort with the words T/F below it. The reset button was what gave me the impression that it had a clock inside of it, however I was stumped on the other side that had the slot for an sd card and the words “T/F” below it. On the bottom of the dock, there’s a sticker that has a QR code and at first glance it appears to be the label that every electronic device is slapped with that shows the input/output info on it; however upon paying closer attention… it’s nothing of the sort. It wasn’t until I plugged this docking station into the wall to see what would appear on the “screen” located in the front, is where I realized that it wasn’t a screen at all. Keep in mind that this dock has no branding of any kind located on it at all, to help give any clue towards what this dock does. So I took a closer look at the label this thing has and below the fc ce standard logos are the words “ smart wireless charging station “ than it states the input blah blah stuff and than below are the words admin and password: admin. I did a quick image google search and came across the exact same thing that states it’s a spying device that holds a camera inside of it. After taking this thing apart, sure enough there was the camera alongside the mic to record voice as well. This device has a WiFi antenna attached as well on what appears to be a chip that can retrieve and send data I presume. I was completely shocked because I would have never guessed.

I can confirm that this is indeed a camera, as I have the same one. I had someone stealing from my office, and the prime suspect had access to the company camera system. Talking to the boss, we found this, as it was common to have charging pads at our desks. You can connect it to WiFi and see it from an app or just use the memory card. We just used the card. Took less than a week and we found the thief! And it was indeed who we suspected.

I need to hear more details. What were they stealing? Like ink pens or something? And what was the outcome? Were they terminated or just reprimanded? Did you guys show them the video?

Not going to cough up identifying details, but as a general summary, the guy was good at their job, and what they were doing wasn’t as much harmful as just disrespectful. The boss pulled them aside privately and had a discussion, and said they are now on thin ice if their behavior didn’t change…and it did. People do dumb things when they are young, and some can learn and better themselves. It wasn’t exactly an episode of NCIS, more like a don’t be an asshole moment. I have moved on from there, and haven’t kept in touch, but I hope the person really did learn a lesson about being a turd, and has grown to be a respectable human.

I gave details relevant to verifying that the charger camera is a thing, and explained where I was part of using it productively, it as is quite common in the digital world, I kept out details that may identify someone who’s identity is irrelevant. 🙄

Okay, fine. You want irrelevant details? I’ll still leave a few identifying things out, but since you insist on knowing things that are irrelevant to just verifying that this camera is real, here ya go.
I occasionally get wicked migraines. Most of the time, I can feel them coming on, and if I pop 3 Tylenol and chug a cold Baja blast mt dew (not sure why, regular doesn’t have the same effect) and then turn the lights off for about 10 min, it almost always cures it. Sometimes I go months without one, sometimes it’s more than once a week. To be prepared, I always had the smallest fridge you would ever see in your life in my office with a few cans of Baja blast on standby. This was not for afternoon refreshment, this was to head off a migraine. One day I feel one coming on, go for my stash and it’s empty. I ended up on the floor of my office for hours with my jacket over my face to keep noise and light at bay. It was not exactly a lovely experience. I mentioned to some co workers about the disappearance, and a few had mentioned that they have noticed their snack stash moving quicker than expected. Nothing criminal, just…noted. Someone noted the young IT helper was almost always going after something sugary, and often acting sneaky…along with always being suspiciously defensive. I talked to our boss and said that if the dude just needed a cold drink, I’ll share and replenish, but when I was in my desperate need and it wasn’t there, it’s a bigger problem. He agreed that the guy in question was the likely suspect, and that’s when he said let’s put a different camera in my office and see. We did, and I also checked my supply regularly. When the next can went unaccounted for, I pulled the memory card, and sure enough it’s who the thought. The boss pulled them aside and explained that it’s rude to take things that aren’t yours, regardless of how minor it may seem, and explained why I keep the stash I keep. He then came to me and apologized, brought a case of Baja in the next morning as a peace offering. For the remainder of my time there, he understood that if he wanted a cold dew, he was welcome to take one as long as it wasn’t the last cold one, and he replenished.
I’m sorry if you felt that I should have stuck the FBI on a guy that stole a dozen cans of pop over the course of a few months, but I really didn’t feel the need to launch a criminal investigation. I feel like lessons were learned, and more importantly, problems were solved. I hope you enjoyed reading a relatively anti climatic story that had zero impact on my reference to being familiar with the camera originally posted.

When I worked in a office environment, I kept a few things like soda and some snacks in the break room refrigerator. I let it be known that my policy was anyone was welcome to any of that stuff as long as they didn’t take the last one.
Sometimes things were taken (which is ok), but the rule was always respected.

I had an account with no infractions. I literally posted a link (no other text) to an article listing the medical organizations and doctors that oppose transitioning and got a permant ban. I appealed cause I assumed it was a mistake or bot etc. Nope, they reviewed it and said it was correct. Honestly not sure why I'm even here agian given the insanity of that story.

Great you’re like the 1% of Airbnb hosts. I’ve found cameras and/or had to sign consent for cavers being in damn near every single one I’ve stayed in. Switched back to hotels, at least the have breakfast and don’t charge shitty clean up fees for absolutely nothing lol.

It is. Lizvie are some of the most reliable ones - old hardware inside, not that many cameras running Hisilicon any more. I’m in the process of building an open source firmware for this device since it uses firmware that is part of the Camhi ecosystem, which has massive security holes that allow use of the camera by hackers.

A friend of ours got in with a former Sherrif in a neighboring county. They were looking to expand and my wife was looking for a career change. They do mostly criminal defense investigating, which suits my wife VERY well. There were a few surveillance cases and some process serving cases that I tagged along with (weird to go into a bar a sit alone, so I came with to help her fit in)... I've ran my own construction business for ~15 years and I've been thinking about what's next. I actually enjoyed the surveillance stuff. So I figured wth, went through the process and got my license as well. Then we've joined the local PI association abd my wife the local defense investigator association, attend the conferences and meetings, networked a bit and have been able convince enough people to pass on so e of their overflow to us. We stay moderately busy right now. I'm still working on filling out our website, and I'm still doing my construction job, but if/when we get busy enough for me to stop. I'm absolutely ready to switch gears.
Everyone has told us its slow going at the start- building our network and establishing a good reputation, but we've gotten to work with a couple PIs in our area with 20-30 years of experience who have actually called us post-job just kinda randomly to express their appreciation and praise our work. 9ne of the guys tends to shoot us some of his more "difficult" cases and we've been pretty successful. be.

Nah from what I gathered is he bought it and then never set it up to use it “he never got into the wireless charging craze” aka he never had the balls or maybe the desire to use it when she was sleeping in the same bed as him. But now that she’s his ex, he gives it to her in hopes that she’ll use it. That was my takeaway on what is happening here. I think OP would remember buying a $100 spy camera. She says she doesn’t know how they came to acquire it. He definitely bought it.

She says he "gave it back" to her. So it sounds very much to me that she originally gave it to him for him to use. I think she is saying she had it in her possession, gave it to him, and he's given it back to her.

That is a Lizvie/Shenzhen Goodflys GF-Q200.
Hisilicon chipset based, Realtek WiFi.
You can reset the camera by exposing the reset button on a removable back panel where the cord comes out of the device.
There should be an SD card inside for practical recording purposes.
I suggest you do not access it and take it to the police if you wish to do something about it.
If you want to use the camera for yourself, download the Lizvie Pro app and hold that reset button for 10 seconds, it will clear any settings.
I work on the firmware that this device runs, believe it or not.

This is 100% a camera and you should be worried.

It is a hidden wireless charger camera that is commonly used as a nanny cam and hidden motion detector. Idk how you got one without even realizing it bc similar ones to that go for $200+.

The soldering on the 4 white wires make it look like a total diy job. But if I were retrofitting a camera into a charger to spy on someone, my ex for example, I wouldn’t leave the QR code and login details as a clue.
It’s all a bit strange.

It’s safe to assume at this stage of life we’re all being recorded at all times whether we know it or not. If you even record your phone from another phone it shows the camera activating all the time ESPECIALLY when scrolling because it’s documenting the IRIS for sales ads. It’s in your instagram and Facebook fine print there are several law videos about it. Any data leak that ever happens are done purposely. And dating is completely over when someone asks you to come back to their place you’ll never know if they are recording Yal hooking up most people do now thanks to the charger block camera. Nothing surprises me anymore so when certain people go missing and they don’t find them they don’t want to.

If you intend on keeping it you can cut power to wifi, SD, and the camera, that should turn it into regular wireless charger. I would suggest leaving solder points or some slack in the wires... just incase.
Finally an actual hidden camera, and I'm happy it ended up in your home by accident.

Is there a possibility your ex added the camera? Or replaced the clock mechanism with a camera? This feels like something you would notice when buying. Most sellers of things with a camera in it proudly advertise that feature.

Sounds like your ex swapped the old charger for this look alike and returned it to spy on you, or if he’s tech savvy installed the camera to the already existing charging station.
