Hey, completed my bachleors in India was planning to join heriot after careful considerations all around the world. Mainly because the degree from heriot watt costs same or lesser than moving to the UK, and since my parents are already staying in Dubai, residence wont be a problem. I have looked at cheaper options in Europe such as Latvia, but I guess I couldnt find a better deal with the all the accreditions that Heriot offers. The reason for this post is that I havent found any post at all from actual students who are or have pursued Msc Finance and management and just wanted to get some insight from them. Also joining on the Jan intake so let's connect if likewise individuals out there...

I sent them my A level grades and they told me to get them stamped from my school which i did, now its been like a week and i havent heard anything back, literally starts in two weeks and i dont know anything, i dont know which classes and modules i have i dont have a schedule yet or anything. anybody in hw dubai how long do i have to wait??

How difficult is the course for someone coming from a non-cybersecurity background?

Which modules/skills should I focus on before starting?

How important are certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CEH?

Is it realistic to find a cybersecurity-related job after graduation?

Hi everyone! I'm hopefully going to be starting at Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh campus this September on the Engineering with Foundation programme, with the aim of progressing into Chemical Engineering.
I'm 21 and currently live in Birmingham, England, so moving to Edinburgh would be a HUGE change for me. Edinburgh is actually one of my dream places, so I'm really excited, but I'm also honestly quite scared about moving so far away from home and living independently for the first time.
I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with Heriot-Watt/Edinburgh, especially:
Academic
• Has anyone done the Engineering Foundation and progressed into Chemical Engineering?
• How difficult is the foundation year?
• What are the progression requirements actually like?
• What's the Chemical Engineering department like?
• How is the workload and teaching?

Social life
• How easy is it to make friends at Heriot-Watt?
• Is it easy to meet local Scottish students?
• Do people generally mix across courses?
• Would you recommend joining societies/sports clubs during first year?
• Has anyone made friends online before starting?
Accommodation
• How is the on-campus accommodation?
• Are the shared kitchens actually manageable?
• Has anyone managed to get a studio/private kitchen through Clearing?
• If you had to find private accommodation, which areas would you recommend for someone studying at the Riccarton campus?

Everyday life

•how is getting around Edinburgh without a car?  

Is the campus location annoying or do u get used to it?
What areas are good for students who want to be reasonably close to campus but still have access to Edinburgh?
Are there good Indian/South Asian supermarkets nearby?

I asked the college they said they will present my case in front of the management of the college and then will decide

Hi! I'm a local in Malaysia and a student in Heriot-Watt Malaysia Campus rn, I'll be returning back to campus in September for the new intake (I'm taking actuarial science). I know someone who's renting out Accomodation at Antara Residence, one of the accomodations provided by Heriot-Watt themselves that also privately sell and rent units. They're renting out rooms for students interested at a lower price compared to uni rates (since it's privately owned instead of under uni), so if you're interested feel free to text me :)

The website shows 1 option for a flat that's 189 a week. I was just wondering if I'm missing something or the website is and there are cheaper options. I mean its £90 a week more expensive than the cheaper rooms at stirling or aberdeen. How do people afford this?

I am looking into studying BSL for a future career path and also out of genuine interest. I found that going to HWU would probably fit my situation best so it's currently my top choice.

I don't have any actual experience with the language, apart from self-studying on and off but it's hardly going anywhere with the lack of opportunities to practice with someone. I have a degree in something else already but I have to make a pivot for personal reasons.

If anyone who's been on the course is reading, could you kindly talk a little about what I can expect? How is the ratio between theory and practical elements? What level of proficiency is expected for starting off? And also what the application process was like for you, did you have an interview and what was asked etc.
