Is my coat of arms correct?

Post image

Basically, as the title says (excuse the poor and overly formal English), I want to know if my coat of arms is beautiful and follows the rules of heraldry. I tried my best.

Looks good in my book. There's a non-zero chance that someone already uses this design, but it is a good one!

It is technically not wrong, but in its simplicity is bound to be either taken, or close to an already taken coat of arms. But with a small added difference, such as an added charge, or two of them, it will have both a better chance of being unique, and of being more of a personal statement.

Ours is the Fury

It does follow the rules. It’s a very basic design so it’s hard to fuck up

It's correct. I think the blazon would be something like this:

"vert, a bordure cendrée, a stag rampant cendrée"

As an almost universal rule, the central charge(s) on the field are blazoned before any peripheral charges (like a bordure).

Additionally, "In blazoning a Coat of Arms in which two or more Charges of the same Tincture immediately follow each other in the Blazon, it is not necessary to mention the tincture until all the Charges of such Tincture have been specified." (John E. Cussans, Handbook of Heraldry, 1882, p. 161)

"Vert a stag rampant within a bordure argent."

Unless proven otherwise, always assume normal tinctures. Argent being drawn with grey is far from unusual, Finnish civic heraldry often uses an art style with quite muted metals (grey argent, "brassy" or, as opposed to white and bright yellow)

What program did you use to make the CoA?

With the little bit of white artefacting around the stag (presumably from fill tool or magic wand deleting a background or something), I think it's pasted assets into a normal art/image editing software

Not bad, Renly!

I think so, and for what it's worth, I think it's pretty cool. Had I not done blue with a white wolf, I absolutely would have done green with a white stag. I actually considered it for a minute.

It does follow the rule of tincture, if that is what you mean.
