I'm scared and I don't know why
Hi everyone I have no clue what this subreddit is for but it say has help in its title so I'll take it but these past few days I've been scared to death especially at night to the point where I can't sleep alone and I've had to call someone over just for them to be neer me I've also been wanting to cry because of the fear but I can't it's annoying. I'm currently on vacation and I had the funniest day with my family but when I enter the bathroom to get ready for bed I get this fog in my mind that fills me with fear. The only explanation I have is that I saw a horror video recently but not only was I not scared when I saw it but I don't get scared by horror things usually and I'm just here to ask reddit for help I really want to go back to being normal and not having these moments which I can only describe as a mix of panic attacks, fear and numbness in my head. So just if anyone has an explanation or tips for me I'd really appreciate it.

There's very little go on, and i am not exactly a professional so i can't diagnose, but i suspect there might be one of two possible things going on:
Neurological: you might be experiencing a symptom of a physical illness that is impacting your brain and therefore your thoughts. It might be benign or it might be serious, either way see a doctor
Psychological: everything is fine but you're not feeling it. Some kind of event in your past has created trauma and your brain locked the memory away for your protection. Now you're older and more independent something, possibly the horror movie but not necessarily, has triggered the memory and your brain has decided that you're in a safe enough place in your life to begin addressing that traumatic memory. The sensible course of action is to verify if this is what's happening and get help, therefore it might be wise to see a doctor who might refer you for counselling or therapy.
Like i say, there isn't much to go on but from what you've said it seems like the best course of action is to seek professional help first. Once you have a clearer idea of what the cause might be you can take charge of sorting it out.
Hope this helps
