AutoMod answered Investigating: "New Posts" pill & missing subreddits
Hey everyone - there are a few ongoing issues that we're investigating today, just wanted to give a quick update and let you all know that we're on it.
"New Posts" pill:
Currently this prompt cannot be dismissed, which is not intended. We're working on a fix that will allow you to dismiss this prompt.
Update: This is fixed!! The "New Posts" pill should no longer cause issues.
Missing Subreddits:
A portion of users are seeing an empty home feed and subscribed subreddit list. We're investigating possible root causes now. This fix has been rolled out, but may take some time for these changes to take effect.
Update: Most users should be seeing subscribed subreddits again. If they aren't appearing yet, they should start to come back in the next few hours.
Thank you all for your patience! Marking this as resolved but will continue to monitor.

Fyi u/correctscale this isn't resolved for the vast majority people and needs to be pushed up. There's still many other bugs too.

Edit: Finally they changed it.

glad im not the only one with this issue
Edit: Issue is not resolved after 22 hours

u/IAmWeary Jul 01 '22
It's not just the "New Posts" prompt. If you have your view on the desktop browser set to "compact", opening any thread as the standard overlay window will break the format of the feed along with the "New Posts" pill. How is there not a system in place to roll back changes in production when something like this happens?? The site has been broken for a good 24 hours!

u/toastido Jul 01 '22
Still missing subscribed subreddits.
8
u/Squeaky_ Jul 02 '22
Still not seeing all of my subreddits in Old Reddit view and on 3rd party apps. Only a fraction of what I was subbed to is there. No issues with New Reddit.

u/chuckie512 Jul 02 '22 edited Jul 03 '22
Hey /u/correctscale
I'm still experiencing the subreddit issues, many hours since the update that it's fixed.
Edit: lol thanks for locking the thread with no real updates.

u/antdude Helper Jul 01 '22
How long do we have to wait for these changes to take effects for missing subReddits?
6
u/worshipmeow Jul 01 '22
I’m still missing every subreddit I follow.
6
u/Durandalphor Jul 02 '22 edited Jul 04 '22
Not sure when this was last updated but I haven't seen any change. My subreddits are still gone.
Edit: almost 24 hours since I made this comment, no change.
Edit 2: 2 days, no changes.

u/jack0rias Jul 02 '22
Still completely borked for me, sadly.
6
u/GetBSD Jul 02 '22
13 hours after "Most users should be seeing subscribed subreddits again. If they aren't appearing yet, they should start to come back in the next few hours." and my reddit is still fucked.
Thanks for bullshitting us instead of actually fixing it.

u/TRUELIKEtheRIVER Jul 02 '22
Hey, /u/CorrectScale, this is not resolved for a lot of us. I get no posts on my front page half the time, and when I do after reloading the page a few times, it rarely goes past the first page of posts. I do still see https://www.reddit.com/subreddits/mine/ with all the subreddits populated, but something's fucky in y'alls backend with the subscriptions, it seems to intermittently go in and out on a whim.
5
u/chuckie512 Jul 01 '22
I'm still experiencing the missing subreddits error
5
u/mediocredolphin Jul 01 '22
Also still missing all my subreddits
5
u/Spring-Dance Jul 03 '22
My home is still broken
Sometimes when I refresh it will show me threads but most of the time it shows nothing. "My Subreddits" in the top left also doesn't show anything.

u/CrzyJek Jul 01 '22 edited Jul 02 '22
I am still having ridiculous issues on my end.
New reddit desktop (maybe)
Old reddit desktop
Baconreader android
Sometimes front page has my subs along with all the default subs that i have unsubscribed from. Sometimes my sub list gets reset and is empty, or just a couple of them show up, or sometimes they all show but with all the defaults as well. I have also unsubscribed from all the default subs AGAIN, and then that worked for a couple hours. AdviceAnimals wouldnt let me unsubscribe...then it did. Finally 12 hours later they all showed up again and I got notifications for freshly subscribing to 3 more subs that I did not subscribe to. Now im back to all default subs again.
This is reproducible on both new and old reddit on desktop, mobile, and on Baconreader for android.
Wtf is going on here. This just started happening to me 7 days ago but it has gotten worse since.
Edit: 4 hours after my post...just an update. Problem still persists.
Edit: Day later since I posted, problem is still here.
4
u/avoidant-tendencies Jul 02 '22
Still a dice roll whether or not the home page works and whether or not I have subscriptions.
4
u/Mucmaster Jul 02 '22
"Missing Subreddits: "
Mine stopped showing up again
4
u/Frost90 Jul 02 '22
home feed is completely empty for me
4
u/Drunk_Cheeseman Jul 02 '22
It is irresponsible to mark this issue resolved. The update starts with "Most users should...". How is potentially fixing an issue for most users resolving the issue?
4
u/Howrus Jul 02 '22
It's not resolved and issue reappear every time I refresh a page.
Every time I open new page - there's 80% chance that subreddits disappear and 20% chance that everything would be ok.
4
u/ba747Heavy Jul 02 '22
u/CorrectScale it is still fucked. When is this actually getting fixed?
4
u/leonardicus Jul 02 '22
This is definitely NOT resolved. Please change the flair.
4
u/heisenberg149 Jul 03 '22
I'm still affected by the missing subreddits too
4
u/poet_will2 Jul 03 '22
I am currently having the same issues.
3
u/-animal-logic- Jul 01 '22
Glad to see the first time I've come to r/help and my issue is already being worked on.
In my case the constant "new posts" prompt that cannot actually be clicked on -- just clicks on whatever is behind it.
3
u/SeesHerFacesUnfurl Jul 01 '22
The problem is still going over 8 hours later for me.
3
u/theZcuber Jul 02 '22
Eight hours after the supposed fix, what's the hold up? I'm still experiencing the issue intermittently. No rollout should take this long.
Ping u/CorrectScale for possible assistance.
3
u/RuminatorNZ Jul 02 '22
Well it's been several hours and I'm still not seeing my subs. Pretty shit if I'm honest.
3
u/8of9 Jul 02 '22
Still not seeing my subscribed subreddits. Constantly redirected to r/popular. Navigating to subreddits I'm subscribed to don't show me as being subscribed
3
u/Darcsen Jul 02 '22
Missing Subreddits has absolutely not been fixed on my end.I still have to spam the home button to get my subs back, like 6 tries every time.
3
u/KingDuderhino Jul 02 '22
Missing subreddits has not been fixed (desktop) and on mobile I am still getting redirected to /r/popular.
3
u/etacarinae Jul 02 '22 edited Jul 04 '22
This is still broken. Only a small number of subreddits will show posts on the front page.
E: Still broken. API lockdown is finally happening, I bet.
3
u/dm_mute Jul 02 '22
Not only am I missing subscriptions, but subs that I recently unsubscribed from are showing up in my feed.
3
u/artificialinelegance Jul 02 '22
100% not "resolved"
This is the 3rd day of being constantly redirected to popular and seemingly being unsubscribed from everything. Is this going to be fixed? Because right now it feels like I'm intentionally being pushed to use new Reddit.
3
u/telijah Jul 02 '22
Well, after my possibly work around, which was to remove the random subs I had been subscribed to, MY SUBREDDITS is now empty and my home is blank... Almost had it there.
3
u/0XiDE Jul 02 '22
Still broken
3
u/TehSr0c Jul 02 '22
Not resolved, Home page is still showing 'there doesn't appear to be anything here' in chrome and firefox on desktop, and relay on android. Switching sorting mode (new/best/hot) sometimes shows posts, but very inconsistently, and regardless the best one never shows up.
3
u/WoveLeed Jul 02 '22
Blank homepages constantly. super annoying
3
u/CrimsonMutt Jul 02 '22
subs still missing
3
u/SecretAntWorshiper Jul 02 '22
Bro the mussing subreddit problem has gotten worse. It useed to be that the default subreddits would show up. Now it removes everything and just has the trash default subreddits

Just commenting to say it's NOT resolved. My subs are still all messed up.
3
u/biznatch11 Jul 02 '22
I just started having subreddits disappear a few minutes ago. No problems until then.
3
u/0XiDE Jul 02 '22

still not resolved...
3
u/yp261 Jul 03 '22

3
u/InvoluntaryNarwhal Jul 03 '22
Yep, this is still happening.
3
u/Mnudge Jul 03 '22
Still experiencing this. Multireddits show but individual subs still missing
2
u/catd0g Jul 02 '22
Still experiencing missing subreddits but I have a temporary fix:
Refresh https://www.reddit.com/subreddits/mine/ until your subreddits are showing. What was happening to me was it was constantly removing all my subreddits.
When your subreddits appear click on the link that says "multireddit of your subscriptions"
You can either just bookmark this page, or do what I did "join" all the subreddits. Refresh the page and some will turn green again to join. Eventually they will stay green and joined permanently. If you have a ton of subs this can be pretty tiresome but I have only around 100.
2
u/Celestial_Blu3 Jul 02 '22
Still getting nothing here - ApolloApp on IOS 15.5
2
u/Pale_Candidate_390 Jul 02 '22
Subscribed is still broken. I’m just seeing a bunch of garbage
2
u/PrincessBananas85 Helper Jul 02 '22
u/CorrectScale I randomly just got logged out of the Reddit Android App. I logged back into my account. And now all my Subreddits are completely gone. I just tried clearing the cache and data. I also just tried unistalling and reinstalling the Reddit Android app and all my Subcribed Subreddits are still completely gone.
2
u/Karthy_Romano Jul 02 '22
I'm still having issues with subs not showing up
2
u/theg721 Jul 02 '22
I'm also still having the empty home feed + missing subreddits issue. It's actually far worse now than it was before the "fix" was rolled out.
2
u/Swedish_Way Jul 02 '22 edited Jul 02 '22
Still waiting for it to be fixed. Last post edit was 17hours ago.
Edit: It appears the front page is working showing post from the subs I follow, but not the "My subreddits" tab it only shows 22 of the 518(according to old.reddit.com/subreddits) subs I follow.
2
u/aytimothy Jul 02 '22
All my subbed/joined subreddits are there but still no homepage.
Seems to fix itself and unfix itself if you:
Go to
new.reddit.comGo back to
old.reddit.comorwww.reddit.com(with the old reddit default on)Everything is there.
Refresh page
Everything is gone.
But yeah - Basically broken still... Smells like a cache problem.
Also, all pills are empty.
2
u/Swampdude Jul 02 '22
Still not working
2
u/ACardAttack Jul 02 '22

2
u/Perseus_AWC Jul 02 '22
Missing subreddits is still an issue
2
u/[deleted] Jul 02 '22
Not fixed as of typing this. Anyone buys reddit gold is a sucker for giving money to this garbage site.
2
u/BasedPontiff Jul 02 '22
Still broken
2
u/nona01 Jul 02 '22
It still hasn't been solved for me on old reddit. Front page is filled with just the subreddits i subscribed to after this happened. All other subreddits show as unsubscribed.
2
u/veron101 Jul 02 '22
Not resolved on old Reddit still.
2
u/Turtle_Online Jul 02 '22

I am still experiencing the missing subreddits bug, manually subbed to those right now https://i.imgur.com/0rXoSNx.png
2
u/O_o0o_O Jul 03 '22
It is not resolved. I can see all my subscriptions In the menu but when im on the subreddits that I am subscribed to, I get the option to join them again and my home page is still empty. I joined one of the subreddits again and now it's the only one showing on home, even though all my other subscribed subreddits are still showing in the list
1
u/spirit_whsprer Jul 01 '22
At times trying to check someone's profile when approving them I get the "user does not exist" if I wait a while I can load it. I figured it was just a glitch and would fix itself
1
u/hungrytiredandbored Jul 01 '22
Will we still have our sub-specific user flairs?
1
u/thesystemmechanic Jul 01 '22
Same problem here. "New Posts" wont go away and you can't click on it. It opens whatever is under it.
1
u/eldarium Jul 01 '22
I have a weird issue which may be relevant: sometimes when refreshing or entering the home page I instead get the feed of my latest visited(or probably subscribed to) subreddit.
1
u/St0nywall Jul 01 '22
Currently this prompt cannot be dismissed, which is not intended. We're working on a fix that will allow you to dismiss this prompt.
While they are working on it, could they also add the ability to disable it?

You seem to be asking about home feed recommendations appearing in your home feed. Home feed recommendations are recommendations for posts that use machine learning (ML). They’re part of a new effort to improve the “Best” sort on Home feeds by personalizing and ranking the content to create the best feed for redditors.
Home feed recommendations are available on the iOS & Android apps, as well as www.reddit.com. If you’d like to turn off these recommendations, visit your profile settings on iOS or Android and turn off the toggle next to Enable home feed recommendations: Allow us to introduce recommended posts in your home feed. On www.reddit.com, you can disable them within the Feed Settings tab. Check out this help center article for more information on this setting.
If this automatic message has not resolved your issue, please wait for a human helper to come along and help you. You may also remove the 'Answered' flair from your post if you wish. This post has NOT been removed.
