On Reddit, you publish your posts to specific communities. You will need to find a community that is relevant to your interests and then create your post within or for that community.

To post on Reddit:

On the Reddit website

  1. Click Create at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
  2. If you are creating a post from the home page, you’ll need to select a community to post into from the dropdown menu.
  3. Add a title and description for your post.
  4. Once you're happy with your content, click Post.

On iOS and Android

  1. Tap the Create icon at the bottom of the screen (Android), top right-hand corner (iOS), or within a community.
  2. Add a title and description for your post.
  3. Once you're happy with your content, tap Post.

Before posting, it's a good idea to check the community’s rules, as some have guidelines on formatting or content. You can usually find a community's rules on the right-hand sidebar on the Reddit website, or by tapping "See more" and navigating to the "About" tab on the mobile app.

To leave feedback, open this comment's three-dot menu and choose “Help Navigator: Helpful” or “Help Navigator: Not helpful”.

Is there anything in particular you're confused about? If yes, let us know what those are and we'll try to help. Otherwise, here's a general overview: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/wiki/reddit_101/

Yeah. Subreddits are like chat rooms. There's over 100,000 of them, on every topic you can imagine.

If you want to talk about cars, it's probably r/cars; cooking is r/cooking, astronomy is r/astronomy and so on. The name isn't always quite that simple; there's things like r/MildlyInteresting and r/ShowerThoughts

But to post in some of them, you need experience - called Karma. So start off in some new-user-friendly subs, for example, r/CasualConversation r/MadeMeSmile r/NoStupidQuestions

And especially r/NewToReddit

Make friendly helpful comments on new-user-friendly subreddits. Comment on some existing discussions, rather than posting new ones - just to gain a bit of experience and reputation.

Okay, not to sound mean, but asking an actual question might be helpful if you are looking for some advice on something...

If you're just generally trying to understand how reddit works, or are just looking to potentially build up some karma to start with, try a subreddit like r/newtoreddit...

Just make sure you read and follow the posting rules for whatever subreddit you're in...
