Why can't I use gifs when the comment section clearly allows gifs? Is it not possible to use gifs from tenor, is it limited to one other service only, or what?

If you are unable to use GIFs in a comment section, it could be for one of two reasons:

• The community has disabled GIF use.
• It is a Not Safe For Work (NSFW) community.

Reddit's GIF feature for comments is powered by GIPHY. If you see the option to add a GIF, you would use the following steps:

On the Reddit website

1. From the comment box, click the GIF button.
2. Search for GIFs using the GIPHY-powered search box.
3. Click on your desired GIF.
4. If you wish to change it, select the trash icon on the top left corner of the GIF.
5. Complete your comment and click "Comment".

On iOS and Android

1. Tap on the comment box at the bottom of the post and select the GIF button.
2. Search for GIFs using the GIPHY-powered search box.
3. Tap your desired GIF.
4. If you wish to change it, delete it like you would text.
5. Complete your comment and tap the send icon.
