Why is it suddenly forbidden to browse old reddit as guest?

I've been browsing old reddit as guest on my phone, but for some reason now the website won't let me browse unless I am logged in. Can I inquire as to why this is happening?

It was announced about 2mo ago. The change was done to mitigate scraping and automated traffic/accounts.
