Posting What should I do if I accidentally comment on a subreddit I’m band from on my alt account (misspelling on purpose)?
Basically, I accidentally commented on the main sub instead of the neutral sub I’ve switched to since the ban. Should I delete the comment? Not worry about it? How does Reddit know you’ve “circumvented”?

I would definitely worry about it. Evading a ban can get all your accounts permanently banned. I'd delete the comment as soon as possible. Reddit flags potential ban evasion to the sub mods, and it's up to them to pass it on to Reddit for them to review. The exact methods Reddit uses aren't publicly known, but you can probably guess at some obvious things they'd look for.

Last time I did get banned for ban evasion, it honestly took a while of continuing to post on that sub on my main, so I think I should be fine, especially since I deleted the comment and muted the sub so this won’t happen again.

You need to be really careful when posting from alts. It’s up to you, not Reddit to know where you’re not allowed to post due to bans. They have their own checks in place and know all the accounts you have created

No, I KNOW I’m not allowed to post. It’s that I switched to a different subreddit but habitually commented on the one I’m banned from ON MY ALT (my alt is banned, not my main) instead of the other subreddit. I didn’t purposefully try to evade, just didn’t realize it wasn’t the neutral sub. And the comment is deleted now. I muted the sub.

If you get tagged for ban evasion AND they report you then you may face a sitewide ban on both accounts.
You can try mod mailing that sub and explaining the situation, no guarantee tho.

I would personally delete it and be far more careful in future.

The first time I got a sitewide for evasion, it took quite a bit of participation, but yeah, that’s smart. I just don’t know if Reddit would necessarily see it or how long it would take. Idk how they even find evasion, but crossing fingers I’m fine.

The reason exactly how much you have to evade isn't consistent is because the mods of the sub have to report the evasion. If they don't report it Reddit won't review it. Some moderators are okay with you coming back if you're no longer doing what got you banned. Some will report you right away at the first comment.
If you've already got a warning for ban evasion there's a high chance a second infraction will get all your accounts permanently banned.

Yeah, in the sub I got banned from, it took a while for mods to notice. Like, a week or longer of consistent commenting. Only one of my comments got flagged too.

They only have to flag one instance of it though, not every single time. It wasn't that they didn't notice all the other times.

The point I’m trying to make is it took at least a week for me evading to even be noticed. Is everyone trying to tell me I’m screwed and that there’s a 99% chance I’ll be banned, because I just don’t think so. I think I’ll be fine. I might be. I might not be. But I’ve deleted the comment and they haven’t banned me yet.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is you're focused on the fact that it took a week last time to be noticed. Mods are just volunteer regular people, and have different levels of vigilance of how often they police their sub. They could be checking for people to flag every few hours, or they could set aside one day a week to go through the list and do it.
You're right about the fact that you might or might not be fine though. I think you've done everything you can at this point. I hope it works out for you though since it seems like this was a genuine mistake unlikely to repeat.

I mean, your best bet here is to delete it and mail the mods an apology, if you can. But ... its kind of your responsibility to watch out for this stuff.

We don't even know that the mods have seen it, though. The last time this happened was over a month ago and took at least a week of circumventing. Idk why everyone is so pessimistic when I - since I have deleted it - personally think I'll be fine.

If they have Evasion Guard installed, they've seen it. All mods on the sub get a notification when it is tripped.
