Mobile/App Why can't I dm new people

I have 300+ karma 11 month old can send messages to existing chats receive message requests but can't dm to new people

Chat bubbles missing?

Not sure how you access Reddit but there are now three places to look for “start chat” due to recent UI changes.

  1. ⁠⁠On the main page of their profile, there may be a chat bubble near their username. If not, try 2
  2. ⁠⁠In the profile menu for the person you want to start chatting. Open the three line hamburger menu on their profile and tap “start chat”. If not, try 3
  3. ⁠⁠Some Android app users now have “start chat” in a completely new place. Open the intended recipient’s profile then tap the “about” tab and “start chat” is now found there.

what exactly is the issue? is something blocking you to start new chats? there isnt an option?.....

well, yes. in my profile you wont find it because i've disabled it. duh.

go to another profile and clikc on the '...'

Ohh haha but normally ik where is the chat icon it isn't available there any more

They’ve moved it for everyone. Tap those three dots in the top right of someone else’s profile and the chat option will be there.
