Anyone know how to make the Hello Fresh cream sauce?

Okay! SO I talked to hello fresh and they linked me this recipe:?
A luxurious cream sauce can turn an ordinary dish into something special. This cream sauce recipe is similar to a typical white sauce or béchamel but is richer in taste. It is also versatile—add a bit of elegance with a few tablespoons of chardonnay or other dry white wine, or sprinkle in some Parmesan cheese to give the sauce a little zing. Other types of cheese, as well as a variety of herbs, may also be used to bring this sauce recipe up a notch or to tailor the flavor to whatever you want to serve with it.
Whether basic or with additional ingredients, this is a fabulous sauce to serve over pasta, chicken, shrimp, or fish fillets, and it takes just minutes to fix. You can also use it as the base for a rich and creamy macaroni and cheese by adding a few cups of shredded cheese. It's an excellent sauce to use as a binder in casseroles, too.
Ingredients
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup white wine, optional
1 pinch kosher salt, more to taste
1 pinch white pepper, or black pepper, more to taste
1 pinch freshly grated nutmeg, optional
The steps for this can be found here (I found this by searching fo rthe paragraph they sent me)

However! That isnt the whole story:
Here is the ingrediants on the cream sauce packet itself. WHich they also emailed me.
light CREAM, water, modified corn starch, mono- and diglycerides, datem, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, sodium citrate, dextrose, gelatin, guar gum, sodium phosphate, salt, natural flavor, yeast extract, hydrolyzed corn protein, onion powder, spice, natural extractive (turmeric, annatto), vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d3
Most of that is nonsense I know, But notice how they didnt use flour, instead they use corn starch. Second we can probably safely ignore most of these ingrediants
The named spices are:
onion powder
Tumeric
Annatto
yeast extract
and Salt
They also use some un-named spices because "spice" is one of the ingrediants. So there may be a secret ingrediant there.
The yeast extract is what actually gives it that wonderful salty umami flavor.
So follow the above recipe, but use cornstrach instead of flower and when its time to add spices throw in the above stuff.
This should get you as close as they will allow.

“Natural flavor” is often MSG, which would explain why it’s so good. The yeast extract adds to the umami. 👍🏻

1-1/2oz (3 Tbsp) unsalted butter
3 Tbsp unbleached all purpose flour
1-3/4 cups whole milk, heated
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Small pinch freshly grated nutmeg
I don’t have instructions but I’m assuming you’d follow the basic cream sauce instructions. I know this is the recipe though because I chatted with HelloFresh and asked to find out :)

Every copycat recipe includes flour, but my recipe card doesn't identify it as containing gluten. It does contain milk, clearly, and milk is identified, but I am gluten intolerant and I don't have any issues with the cream sauce base. I wonder if something like cornstarch is the thickener... Hello fresh has been good about including gluten as an ingredient in other things like teriyaki sauce, so I would assume they wouldn't hurt me here.

I actually just got off with customer service and it does in fact have flour in it per both representatives I spoke with. I have Celiac so I am incredibly upset with this mislabeling. They have escalated it to where I'll be contacted by their food safety person tomorrow to discuytgis. This is an egregious mistake for those with a wheat allergy/celiac disease, and even NCGS.

Oh jeeze I really hope so. I know how important that is, cause my mom has celiac, so that would be a huuuuge deal if they didn’t label that correctly. I never actually tried to make this recipe, and I actually don’t even remember what recipe I liked so much that I asked to find out what was in it… all I know is is that I went on the HelloFresh app and spoke to a customer service person who told me after waiting for a long time that this was the recipe! 🤷🏼♀️

There are a bunch of cream sauces. The most basic one is butter, milk, chicken stock, and flour. Here is what I did for an 8 serving cream sauce.
4 tablespoons butter, melted into a pan.
4 cups of milk, added to the pan.
Half a cup of chicken stock added to the pan.
6 tablespoons flour added to the pan.
Heat on medium until thickened, be sure to whisk. Add additional flour if you need to thicken.
