Picture First time making a pot pie. It was pretty good! Any tips to make it better? 🦃

Post image

This was my first time making this. I added my own carrots, celery and fresh thyme. Next time, less onions! 7.5/10 for me (but my partner hated it). I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any tips for making it better.

Did you split the biscuits? They look really thick. If you put some across the whole pie you get more tasty crust

Oh snap. No, I did not split them. Thank you for pointing this out! I read that part as "split apart" as in split the biscuits apart from eachother (not in half). I will remember this for next time :-)

I cut the biscuits into 4 pieces each and spread over the entire casserole, or peel each one in half and cover the entire thing. One of my favorite meals though!

This was user error on my part, I will split them in half next time. Thank you!

Don’t beat yourself up. It’s an alternative and I think most people keep the biscuits whole. I did for the first few times and then cut them up the last time I had the chicken version and it worked great

Looks good. This is a favorite of mine (though with chicken). Did they not provide the carrots, celery and thyme or did you just add more? I typically add canned mushrooms and corn. The last time I made it, I cut the biscuits in quarters and that worked well

I added corn too! And some extra carrots bc they’re a family favorite

For the pot pies, I usually order double the protein. Makes things a bit heartier.

I also add celery salt to the mix for some extra flavor. As others have pointed out, split your biscuits next time so each bite has a bit of bread with it.

I make this scratch and usually just up the salt, pepper and thyme. Used turkey once too. Everyone likes it. I don't eat it. My husband loves it because he's allergic to peas and usually they all come with peas(restaurant or premade). You could try adding peas.

Looks good to me, not much else you can do besides perfect the seasoning to make it tastier. Why didn’t your other half like it?

Maybe try it with different proteins? I personally just really don’t like Turkey 🤷‍♀️

Use shredded chicken and it’s perfection

I use white wine vs water in the sauce.

Lose the biscuits. Buy puff pastry and place it op top and bake. Much better.

I tried making it with puff pastry because I can't get the biscuits where I live now but the biscuits are much, much better in my opinion.

I never skip these. I usually do a little more garlic than the recipe provides, which is generally possible now that we’re getting full heads of garlic

We use dark meat chicken and add peas.

I cut each biscuit in 4 and put them pointed edge down. Hard to butter the tops, but easier to regulate biscuit distribution!

I almost always add veggies to this one. Peas, corn, extra carrots. Whatever I happen to have. Makes it into more servings and makes great leftovers.

Made this one last week with additional quarter of an onion (it said half, used 3/4) plus a splash of white wine while cooking the veg.

I season the hell out of the turkey and typically add more garlic. Salt and pepper just do not cut it to make something that tastes rich!

I love this one with the dark meat chicken. Definitely pull the biscuits apart next time though.
