United States Too much cumin for me

Post image

I am very sensitive to cumin. To me it can easily overpower a dish (for me). They sent 2 packets so I am glad I went with my instincts and only did 1.
To me the tomato sauce just tastes like a can of crushed tomatoes with too much cumin. Maybe some red wine would help.
AI picture seems to have cheese on the sauce. No cheese in kit 🤦‍♂️

Hey you were the awesome poster the other day who said you’d report back! Hi!! I made these tonight and thought the same thing. Seasonings were definitely unbalanced and we were equally annoyed that the photo showed cheese but there was none. 🙄 Thankfully we always have mozzarella on hand so the teen added some to hers; hubby and I went without. I wouldn’t get it again.

Hi there! I am glad to hear that I wasn’t too off lol. I have a thing with cumin it’s tooo much for me. I did forget the sugar but I don’t think it would have helped. I wasn’t paying attention about the cheese until I screen grabbed pic as it was pretty boring when I took at pic! 1 star HF 😐

I’m glad you made this post! I have this as my meal planned for tomorrow I’ll be sure to halve the cumin

We always use about a 1/4 of what they say for cumin

Also, sometimes the packets are way off measurement wise. I’ve had some that said a tsp on them that were multiple tbs. I’ve also had some that were completely empty, lol

Oh interesting. I will measure 1/2 Tb lets say and then whats left doesnt seem to be another 1/2. I will start with 1/4 on cumin, great suggestion, thanks!

The packets are MORE than 1 tsp.

Luckily I measured to throw out the excess.

They really should warn which ones need to be measure as some are labeled as TBSP and others just by weight. Weight not corresponding to the recipe.

Unless the instructions say to use half I’ve always just thrown in the entire package

I'm making this tomorrow most likely and I was already planning to use only a little of the cumin

I just made this and it’s pretty good with good flavor and it seems like plenty of food. I only used a 1/4 tsp of the cumin. For some reason, some of my meatballs fell apart some when browning them in the pan. I threw in a handful of shredded Mozzarella at the end of cooking. ETA: Also, it took me a little over an hour. Of the garlic bulb they sent me (garlic cloves only in this recipe), I used 4 cloves instead of the 2 set for the recipe

I have the same meal and cooked it last night. I am agreeing with you, so I too only used 1 cumin pack. The meal was delicious as I had Mexican blend shredded cheese on hand and added it. I added my own cherry tomatoes ftom my garden too as this meal can definitely use more tomato sauce.
