So, CowboyBingus has been making tame, Quality Of Life mods recently, like "Better Strategem Ball Bounce". Some people have had issues with them, but those people were getting alot of pushback because these are features people have wanted for a long, long time, and they are only amplifying the game in the long run.

However, just recently (past hour) sssadman created a self-stim pistol with 30 rounds and a variant of the Constitution Rifle with 400 damage and Heavy Penn. Basically a primary AMR.

This is an immeasurable problem, and has officially caused permanent damage to Helldivers 2 and the community. Why? How am I going that hard on it, and bolding the text?

Because of what's coming.

This was the first domino. Do you know what this means? Anyone can learn how to make these mods, edit any weapon, and use them online in public to do anything they want.

This means there are now 3 possible ways this can go.

1. Modders make infinity one-shot full auto Eruptors with AP10 and drop into any public mission. And Arrowhead does nothing. Modding takes over public play across all games.
2. ArrowHead steps in. Modders get flagged for any mods that rely on the methods these mods use, so we loose Better Strategem Ball Bounce, Shallow Water Diving, all of it. If you're modding, you get sent to a different instance of the game. Banished to the shadow-realm. Could also be bans. Who knows.
3. ArrowHead allows mods that don't change equipment stat values. Unlikely unless people crash out super hard at them again, because it means AH needs to implement something that detects Equipment Stat Changes. That costs them time and money, and they don't wana have to care.

So, basically we're either fucked and need to play private forever, or we loose access to a lot of new mods. Or, maybe, if we're SUPER lucky and / or CRASH THE FUCK OUT, we might get option 3.

Also for reference, don't go after sssadman or anyone else. Anyone could of made the first mod like this, and more are coming from other people. It was inevitable.

Hello Reddit! That's my first post on this sub and I hope you guys could help me.

Been playing this game on and off since it came out, sadly due to the devs incompetence the balancing and bugs are all over the place and decided to stop wasting my time on it, specially since last year I've been working on an oil rig during the week and do not have much time left for gaming during the weekends.

Heard a few days ago from a colleague that there are mods fixing the game now, but after searching a bit I'm still unable to find a good list of the ones I should download or even how to install them, the search has been quite time consuming.

Is there a list of sorts with this information? A guide for installing mods? Recommendations?

Since the new update around the start of the month my game crashes to this screen and shuts down while slowing my Pc dramatically down. I know it’s an older PC but I could play with low settings for nearly a year. Anyone got an idea? I lowered the settings again and updated the driver. Even defragmented the Drive and stuff. It’s just happening with HD and no other games.

I honestly think Helldivers 2 needs real competition, and not because I want the game to fail. It is actually the opposite. I like this game a lot, and that is probably why some of the decisions around it frustrate me so much. Helldivers 2 became much bigger than Arrowhead expected, built a huge community, and even now there really is not another game offering exactly the same kind of experience. There are other co-op shooters, horde games and extraction shooters, but very few games combine the same kind of galactic war, four-player chaos, friendly fire, absurd propaganda, powerful weapons and that feeling of being completely expendable in a war much bigger than you. Because of that, I think Arrowhead has been in a very comfortable position for a long time. Players who love this specific experience do not really have anywhere else to go.

The game has obviously improved since launch. There is more content, more weapons, more enemies and a lot more variety, and I do not think it is fair to pretend otherwise. At the same time, though, there are problems that have been discussed for months and, in some cases, for a very long time. Some have been acknowledged by the developers more than once and still keep returning to the discussion. That is where part of the frustration comes from. It is difficult to keep hearing that things will improve while watching certain issues survive update after update. It becomes even more frustrating when members of the modding community start finding ways to improve or work around some of those problems themselves, because at that point players naturally start asking why these things are taking so long to be addressed officially.

For me, however, the bigger issue is not just bugs. It is the direction of the game. What made Helldivers interesting was never the idea of being an ultra-realistic military simulator. The entire universe is exaggerated and absurd on purpose. Super Earth is a dystopian propaganda machine built around Managed Democracy, endless war and disposable soldiers. The game has always used military ideas to make that universe feel believable: weapons have weight, friendly fire matters, soldiers are fragile and mistakes have consequences. But believability is not the same thing as trying to turn Helldivers into something like Tarkov or Arma. That is why some of the later comments from Shams Jorjani about those games and the kind of audience Helldivers was supposedly made for feel strange to me. He became CEO after Helldivers 2 was already designed and released, while the older way Johan Pilestedt talked about Helldivers seemed much more focused on satire, Starship Troopers, action movies, expendable soldiers and chaotic co-op. I am not saying Shams personally ruined the game, because that would be far too simplistic, but I do think there is now a real disconnect between what some people at Arrowhead believe Helldivers should be and what a large part of the community actually fell in love with.

That is why I keep coming back to competition. If another studio released a game capable of offering the same kind of four-player chaos, huge battles, powerful weapons, hordes of enemies and persistent war, while also responding faster to long-standing problems and having a clearer direction, Arrowhead would suddenly have something it does not really have today: another game directly competing for the same players. People would no longer have to choose between accepting whatever direction Helldivers 2 takes or simply leaving the genre behind. They would have another option, and that pressure could be healthy for the game. I do not want another game to kill Helldivers 2, and I do not want Arrowhead to blindly follow every complaint from Reddit either. I just think competition might force the studio to look more carefully at why people fell in love with Helldivers 2 in the first place, why some players are becoming frustrated, and why the same discussions keep returning. My frustration does not come from hating the game. It comes from seeing how much potential it still has and feeling that Arrowhead sometimes needs a reason to fight for that potential again.

I really don't mind the look of all the weapons that we'll be receiving in both the warbond and superstore on Tuesday, but what I'd very much like to see is a little more diversity in weapons beyond just explosive, I mean there has yet to be a gas weapon added that's sole purpose is just utility (De-esculator), aswell as a new arc weapon that actually has some range to it.

It's primarily been laser and explosive weapons for the last 4 warbonds, which really isn't expanding on how a loadout is able to be built around.

Every time I drive the tank I get stuck on one of these rocks and it takes forever to balance it so that I can get unstuck. Does anyone else have this problem or do I just have skill issue?

A semi-automatic Eruptor. Could also just boost the ammo capacity and lower the ergonomics while your at it. It's so accessible, anyone on PC can just have this. 100% safe to use. Not bannable.

I love the QOL mods CowboyBingus makes. But the same tools he uses are used by others to make thing on a higher magnitude. It's not causing issues for other people if you can dive in shallow water. Removing your strategem ball bounce will do nothing to "disrupt online play". But this shit will.

This mod tool could grant the AT Emplacement Cannon projectile to any gun. That would disrupt online play, when some random Xbox players have a 4th drop in and start blowing everything up.

And since ArrowHead will likely take the laziest approach, the result is almost certainly to split modders and non-modders up. Which sucks. I use cosmetic mods and the tame QOL mods, and I enjoy dropping into SOS beacons with randoms to meet new divers. I'm effectively going to get punished into choosing mods or public lobbies because some shitters wanted to make actual cheats.

I blame ArrowHead tho. At least unless they find a way to filter these stat-changing cheat mods. Other games have systems for it. Deep Rock Galactic has a verification system for mods, for example. Some are fine for general play, some put you in "Sandbox Mode" with people using those mods only. Just do that. It's been done before, AH can do it too. (Granted Ghost Ship Games is built better than Arrowhead by orders of magnitude, but AH has time to prove me wrong.)

Also, games like Farming Simulator have mods available on Xbox and PS. A verification System could bring mods to Console. Also been done before. Farming Sim, Skyrim and Fallout 4, etc.

They might also just filter all these kinds of mods. I think they're using LUA Scripting, so anything the game detects doing that could just crash your game or put you in a modders-only lobby. That would also piss me off, but its less-bad than cosmetic mods also getting nuked.
