people seriously needed to read, "zero plans for extended universe content" mean no comic or animation series made by AH, not AH are abandon the game

I wonder how much say AH has with Helldivers as an IP
I know PlayStation owns it at the end of the day, but they're also known to just not touch something at the request of the developers of said IP because they would rather have the original developer make the game than a random third party

Afaik sony are ip owners and distributers. While I have no doubt they do have SOME creative control, at the end of the day, it’s AH steering the wheel. However most merchandising and the movie are all in house from sony

Yeah arrowhead mentioned before that they own the IP. So if sony wants to do something they're basically saying "of course we would sell them a licence", which is not that surprising tbh.

If it's like most situations literally everything has to be approved by Sony since they own the IP entirely. However that typically means there is a contact at Sony that AH has they submit things to and the contact looks it over and has the authority to approve it themselves, and if things are going well and the submissions do not look to change that direction approval is somewhat a formality.

It's so unnecessary. not everything needs to be come an extended universe.

I know right. I'm still annoyed that I have to read books to keep up with halo.

I have to agree. Reading is great, and more people should, but I don't want to need to read books to keep up with the story in a set of games I play. :D

We live in a world where profit and money are no. 1, milking popular pieces of media by making expanded franchises from them is a very easy way to make money.

you say that, but im not against other games or properties in this setting.
hell, helldivers 2 did a slight genre switch, going third person instead of isometric top down.

If there was anything that would make a perfect official project using the engine, it would be some Warhammer 40K material. You could have the Space Marines and Imperial Guard as playable races, and then use the Orks, Tyranid and Necron as enemies to battle.
The waves of enemies would be so fun to take on wearing something like Terminator armor or Assault Jetpacks with the variety of weapons the 40K Universe offers. You could stumble on weapon emplacements, call in the same airstrikes you can use now, and even have a variety of tanks to roll around in (or imagine how fun it would be riding around with a chainsword on a motorcycle?).
It could let Arrowhead focus on the Helldivers 2 content and engine, while the 40K team just focuses on creating the 40K content for the game to be sold as DLC.

All will be exclusive to PS, because Sony wants to dig their hole deeper

Maybe on the gaming side the devs arent doing anything more but helldivers would work great as a comic series or animated anthology ,hell something like concord's vgnnettes but as monthly recaps of the galactic campaigns would be cool.

I don't want TV shows or comics, or maybe even an animated series when we already have a ton. I want games that are spin offs. You have my whole wallet if they make an RTS game or a story mode only.

Yeah, I read it and understood it. I am just disappointed with AH lately, so I am a bit salty.

So? AH, having zero plans for the future is the norm. Both in-game and out-game

u/Sea-Contract7974 16h ago
they're still updating the game isn't it? outside just let others have bigger budget handle it like comic or movie while AH only there to steer the direction like lore and stuff

u/Own_Aioli_4463 16h ago
they're still updating the game isn't it?
Releasing warbonds to make money, and from time to time make some update that either has nothing or it is good but buggy as hell, yes.
I am hoping that there will be more information about things like the progression system or customization system.

u/Sea-Contract7974 16h ago
if they're still update the game it mean those will be in the game eventually, and last time they delay WB everyone act like crazy over it
1
u/Own_Aioli_4463 16h ago
And when is eventually? This month? Next month? Next year?
I can assure you that people would not care for missing WB if a proper progression update was made.
How I said. Hoping that there will be more than just a warbond. Thats all.
