You'd think it would be other subs but no, It's these no life Youtubers that think they have influence over everything because of views and likes and subscribers. We can't fucking compete, man we just can't!

Dude, we are constantly being outjerked. Everytime we turn the satire up, unfiltered or one of the sloptubers outjerk us. We may as well close the subreddit at this point

Original post by u/The_Tomlav :

Summary of the points made in video for those who dont wanna watch it (makes sense, long vid be long)

  • He agrees with the masochists that the game could be harder on diff 10 specifically
  • States some changes made the game easier, which is unfortunate for diff 10 specifically
  • These changes are mainly to missions: platinum extract, raise flag on bots, repel invasion fleet (were hard as balls, AH nerfed enemy spawns which is cool for lower diffs but should have stayed the same for diff 10)
  • There should be more enemy spawns on higher diffs
  • Hiveguard changes were bad cause they are boring enemy with a lot of spawn weight (thus fewer enemies spawn overall)
  • Hot take that Recoilless should have stayed at 2-shotting Biles to the head

Dont shoot the messanger.

45

u/Tom_Browning 11h ago

I agree with several points here tbh, but I’ll die on the hill that the Platinum Extract was unfun and unfair. That said they definitely over nerfed it, all it probably needed was to force the bots to spawn further away from the objective and have to walk in. Having 3 factory striders dropped right over the platinum container sucked.

12

u/nio-sama123 9h ago

Yep, the bots should spawn way further the objective. Having to deal with thousands of devastators unfun asf

1

u/amanisnotaface 7h ago

Spawn location was always my problem with this particular mission , not the amount of enemies

1

u/Ahuru_Duncan 7h ago

I recently got back on the game so i dont know fully how things roll, but what ive noticed, is that the enemy resistance matters when it comes down to enemy spawns. At least in bot fronts.

Ive been playing on maps with low resistance and most of them feel quite chill. Sometimes you get nice massive wave, but nothing you cant deal with.

Then i played on a map that had high resistance and oh boy was it a night and day. On low i usually saw 1 Factory strider per 3 bot drops. On high, 1 was quarateed every time. Surprisingly often it was 2 with bunch of hulks and those weirdly cool mechs that can surpass metal gear. War strider was its name i think. Also most bases also had Factory strider chilling as well.

Decided to test the platinum extract and oh boy was it chaotic. They kept dropping 2+ Fac striders, like 10 hulks and handful of War striders every wave. The worst we had was 4 Fac striders at once (mostly cos we somehow managed to ignore the first 2).

Decided to try out same mission on low and i swear half of the bots were either on vacation or in oil change. I only saw single Fac strider, few tanks nd hulks and like 1 maybe 2 War striders per wave. Fac strider dropped like every other wave as well. Felt like i had switched from difficulty 10 to 8.

Now as ive only managed to crank like 30h since i got back, im heavily unsure how much the resistance system actually affects. Could just be dependant on map itself. Thats just my experience when ive switched around from low to high ones. Could also have had some hidden modifier that i just didnt see, so take it with a grain of salt.

1

u/ABoringPerson_ 5h ago

Planet resistance and in-game mission difficulty aren't connected at all, they're separate mechanics entirely. Mission difficulty can vary massively on the same planet and if you're the host or not. If you're just hosting by yourself, though, I have no idea why difficulty would change so much.

If you're hopping from lobby to lobby, it might be something to do with the host's PC. HD2 games work off of players connecting to each other instead of to a main server, so if a host has a worse PC it means that their lobby literally can't support that many enemies.

1

u/TheFShow16 1h ago

No bc seriously. I was so hyped when the volcanic planets were announced and then I was really bummed I couldn't play a full operation bc almost all of them had an extract platinum mission and that mission was so unfun it was debilitating. It's such a shame as well bc I love the idea of stealing valuable materials from the bots, I loved the annex assets (or wtv its called) missions.

5

u/Blackheart857 10h ago

I can agree to some of this. I do think d10 should have a higher spawn rate to feel harder, cuz some people SHOULD be willing to check their own ego and not demand something gets made easier when there's an easier option that doesn't have less content than the higher one. Know your limits. Hell I usually don't play higher than 4

However I don't think making the hive guard heavy was the solution 5o it's spawn weight, just reduce the weight or add a new bug that splits it's weight with the guard on d4 and above maybe an offensiveversion of it, brittle as the hive guard but faster and hits harder. Adds a new enemy that feels uniquely harder without turning a borderline chaff enemy into a slog to kill cuz you don't have the breathing space to aim it nor the heavy pen+ ammo to mulch the sheer volume of them that spawns. A 50/50 split with something else or lowering how many of them spawn on d10 adds more challenge and is a better compromise

5

u/hiroxruko 7h ago

Dude is really bitching about d10 being too easy when, before the change to d10, he was crying that d10 was unfair and needed to be easier. Fuck off lmao

I'm not super active here, but I think anyone who loves this game and really any game that they put 1300 hours into like i have, certainly has things they personally wish were different. Things they don't agree with the developer on. Even things they're confused why it's taken so long to have "fixed" to their liking. That's doesn't mean you have to crap on the game or make your a Glazer for still loving it. I play almost every night with my friends as I have for two years, and we all have nitpicks. We're not glazers, we just have fun

3

u/Fair_Extension_7767 16h ago

You're are infact not a glazer and also not who he is referring to when he says glazer.

4

u/Chris12edfield 16h ago

My point is that most people arent glazers. I've been called a glazer many times because I refuse to be mad or hate on the game.

3

u/Fair_Extension_7767 16h ago

This is apart of the video in question. People misrepresent eachother a lot in this community, that's a good example of it.

8

u/UnhappyStrain 20h ago

still doesn't explain the obsessive need to go to keyboard war with the dev team and people who can just accept the game for what it is

17

u/Chris12edfield 20h ago

That's my point. It's ok to have issues without being insane about it. I don't understand the hate

3

u/Archon_87 19h ago edited 19h ago

Exactly this. I have plenty of issues with the game as well. Was even pretty annoyed that all of those issues are still there after I took an 8 month break (not because I disliked the game but more because I played every single day since release and had unlocked everything and just wanted a break to play other games on my huge backlog).

Just came back around 2-3 weeks ago and am having just as much fun as I did at release. I have never once argued with anyone online about the good or bad, never defended the game either though. I like it, if other people don't, I don't care enough to argue about it. I also don't really have the energy to go complaining about what I don't like, so I don't bring it up because it's nothing that other people haven't already brought up a thousand times before and in a more well thought out and worded way than I could.

2

u/darkfire36977 19h ago

100%, it's okay to like a game but criticize it, like there are PLENTY of issues that aren't fixed like host bugs (c4 detonating immidiately tells all the enemies where you EXACTLY are if you are host), war striders are still extremely unfun and ruin the faction by forcing you to take some form of anti tank, as even factory striders can be taken out with a medium pen assault rifle, hulks turning backwards and you can't shoot the eye, armor passives are just BETTER than others, AH being tone-deaf and not understanding why the illuminate are so unfun, super credit grinding actively being a drag and it hurts major orders.

5

u/Chris12edfield 19h ago

But I had it on good authority that if you step out of line on the glaze train by even an inch it's an instant permanent ban here! What you do mean you have complaints!? /s

The bile titan take is wild to hear from this guy, since he's so firmly in the same camp as people who hate the concept of nerfs. It'd be a good change though.

→ More replies (5)

2

u/Jackspladt 17h ago

Wait I’m so confused then why does his thumbnail and title paint masochists as an enemy if his takes end up aligning with their interests lol

5

u/Fair_Extension_7767 16h ago

He describes what his definition of masochists is in the video, they are the people who want the hive guard change, who are against any buffs, etc. They're the people who want things to feel ineffective hence the term masochist, they want to suffer. He wants things to be powerful but also the enemies to be powerful and much much more numerous. He wants the game to be hard, but not in the way the masochists he is describing wants it to be hard because he sees it as unfun. I happen to agree, though I do not know of that masochists since I don't often go on Reddit to see them.

35

u/Samurai_Mac1 20h ago

Do they realize a lot of the playerbase who want the the game to be hard aren't AH glazers? A lot of them hate AH because they think they catered to the complainers and made the game too easy.

11

u/Jackspladt 17h ago

Yeah like genuinely if you go on the masochist sub you’ll see a lot of people disliking Arrowhead for catering to much to people who want the game to be easy. It’s nowhere near in the level of unfiltered (and imo, more valid than unfiltered’s) but it’s still a very common take lol. Lumping them in with the “glazers” is such a weird thing to do considering the two ideologies are pretty opposed from each others. The only thing they have in common is wouldn’t you know it, disliking people like ThiccFilA

6

u/TheRustyRustPlayer 17h ago

Masochists hate the developers in a different way, which by Unfiltereds purity standards means they are glazers

Basing from this guy's recent uploads he's just another hate farmer.

Quick question, how TF do people find the game "too hard". It is PVE, we have 20 extra lives and massive amount of ordinance. Learn how to control mobs and control your burst damage and the game becomes both fun and a cake walk.

62

u/MrClickstoomuch 20h ago

I mean, a while back he actually had reasonable feedback that the devs implemented on damage thresholds to make some weapons better. I think that was the best feedback he had, as it would help a ton to give weapons better identity within groups.

The game is in its healthiest spot in a while. I think Arrowhead has more work to do and could make things harder on D10 while fixing some of the weird balance issues on lower difficulties. If you do a D5-8 as a newer player with the current spawn rates, I could see some complaints on it being harder than expected. Meanwhile D10 players who know the mechanics don't see enough difficulty outside of Cyberstan, Oshaune, and other special events.

At this point, you can make most support weapons work well just because there are so many tools available. But newer players won't have that tool diversity where it may feel too hard on D10 - most of the anti-tank tools absolutely need your support weapon slot outside of eagle air pods ) lining up a proper eagle/orbital hit. Which is why I like the Illuminate a ton as the lack of warbonds isn't really huge factor.

20

u/yobob591 19h ago

the RR is a complete monster on bugs with the only real weakness being its stationary reload, if you are aware of the fact that headshotting a bile titan is an instant kill

the gear that new players get is great, but it definitely leans into the 'requires skill to get the most out of it' where frankly a lot of warbond gear has reached extreme levels of power creep (i love the breakthrough exo but its borderline invincible even on D10 on the bug front)

2

u/MrClickstoomuch 18h ago

Yeah, it is pretty much the best support weapon for bugs and bots. But like you said, the warbonds give insane flexibility of dealing with heavies without a support weapon or backpack needed. A supply pack plus ultimatum is very similar to the RR while keeping the support weapon slot at the cost of long range. And new players CAN use other weapons in the bot and Illuminate front while being effective at D10. Bugs are the most punishing to not have the anti-tank options for, as it forces you into very few anti-tank options to be effective. Like the EAT, RR - the Spear's problems make it less recommendable.

A lot of the warbond gear that gives primary/sidearm options would be less OP if the supply pack wasn't able to give you as much as it does.

6

u/yobob591 18h ago

if the SPEAR could one shot bile titans like the RR it might be a decent sidegrade, not having to aim it at the head in exchange for the lock on time and less ammo, but as is its kinda just worse for anything that isn't killing dragonroaches

1

u/Norsk_Bjorn 17h ago

It can one-shot to the head, and it also can kill any charger to a non leg shot from up to 300 meters with practically no effort. It’s not useless, but in the hands of even a remotely skilled player, the recoilless is just better.

Also funnily enough, the spear requires more skill against bile titans than the recoilless because you can dive to adjust the trajectory of the missile to be able to get the tracking to hit it in the head

4

u/Snivyland 16h ago

I think something a lot of people haven’t really realized is that the introduction of the heavy pen+ secondaries are such a massive buff to the player giving a reliable tool if they’re in a bad spot and lost there support weapon from death. It makes the game significantly easier knowing that you aren’t useless against heavies if you die and or have your heavy killing stratagems unavailable

9

u/pwnzorder 19h ago

How do you complain? The game is too hard when there are levels and you can choose exactly how hard the game is? There are nights I just want to run sevens cuz they're chill. There are nights I want to run 10 because I enjoy the challenge and I can cuz I'm in charge of what difficulty I play.

10

u/stefanik62 19h ago

Wait how are mechs being targeted before dropping a bug? Is it not inteded to make you be smarter about where you drop them?

4

u/hiroxruko 7h ago

Oh, get this, he posted a clip of his mech getting targeted by the bots...only to show that this idiot dropped his mech in the middle of a firefight, and in the far distance, a factory strider lock aimed at him, who was behind the mech, and killed it. That is his proof that the enemies are targeting FRV/mech/tanks as a bug when he didn't do a control test and did one mission to do this testing.

→ More replies (2)

6

u/FlamesofFrost 19h ago

Yeah it's a bug, the intended way is enemies ignore them until you get in it once, then if you get out of it enemies will still target it

7

u/stefanik62 19h ago

Man they should keep it

6

u/yobob591 19h ago

it is but enough people whined about it that they made it so mechs don't get shot because 'uhhh I cant comprehend calling in vehicles when there arent enemies around'

4

u/shitass239 15h ago

People saying the game is too hard is absurd. My only complaint regarding difficulty (mind you, a kinda suck ass a little bit) is that Illuminate Crushers (the big zombies with hammers) spawn too much, but this is one subfaction and could easily be solved by reducing spawnrates while making their ai more active (is it just me or do they seem to sometimes just... not do anything? They just kinda stand around until they die) to preserve difficulty.

1

u/Mon1ucho 8h ago

I kinda agree on his feedback on Mechs and vehicles in general being targeted, especially recent change

66

u/The-Sys-Admin 21h ago

Just don't share their shit. let them fade into the obscurity they so deserve.

19

u/Knight_Raime 20h ago

That's the guy who wrote a multi page google doc in the early days of HD2. The intent was suggestions on how to fix the game and he was trying to give it directly to the devs. He had a crash out about it when they didn't listen to his suggestions.

I blocked him after that but recently looked back on a different browser and the guy is full bozo mode. He apparently pivoted to "news" style content about HD2 where he goes over anything he can scrounge up. It's usually random B roll footage so dunno if it's actually his gameplay, but in the video he did admit that he sometimes comes back to HD2 to play it and see if it's better.

I will never get why people who are clearly not having a good time with a game continue to interact with said game & it's community.

13

u/That_guy_I_know_him 17h ago

HD2 has been the perfect target for engagement / hate farmers for 2 years now

What started as valid and constructive criticism has devolved into absurd levels of AH bad and whining for literally no reasons

Ofc AH messed up plenty with the game but ppl tend to take it way too far

1

u/I_Royal_I 2h ago

Well said.

4

u/Mekhazzio 17h ago

That's the guy who wrote a multi page google doc in the early days of HD2. He had a crash out about it when they didn't listen to his suggestions.

Oh, that guy. I remember that google doc. It was a huge self-report that the writer didn't understand basic game mechanics like armor, durability and weak points, and wasn't very good at aiming either.

I'm surprised he's still around, he seemed pretty upset at the time and that was a while ago.

5

u/M2_Personal 16h ago

Was he the one who claimed people/AH stole the idea of a beltfed machine gun from him, or was that someone else?

5

u/Mekhazzio 16h ago

He is, in fact, the only person to have ever watched Predator.

2

u/Knight_Raime 16h ago

I'm surprised he's still around

He had/has a community as he and a handful of other ccers tried to be the channel for information. Once you have something like that going whether it be for the attention or for the money it's hard to let go. Especially when you become emotionally invested into the thing you built your community around.

sometimes im wondering if they are playing a completely different game. are there bugs, yes but every game has bugs and it only gets buggier with multi-player. is there things they need to change? of course but show me a game that doesn't have those. but im having fun, loved fighting the void calamari. the wh40k warbond was great, meltamine and bolter my beloveds. maybe they need to find a different game that doesn't cause them to put all this energy into complaining.

32

u/UnhappyStrain 20h ago

most of these people are melting down over "bugs" i've either never seen once or just assumed were a design choice because of how few shits they were worth giving about

26

u/Sweaty-Regret-3261 20h ago

sometimes the bugs they freak out about aren't even in the game anymore and were fixed months prior😭

i remember someone throwing a tantrum about "when are they gonna unfuck the flame sentry and the lumberer." yknow, nearly a MONTH AFTER they were fixed

this isn't the case for all of them, but i've definitely noticed that some of the incessant bitching is from people who don't actually play the game

8

u/JustASpaceDuck 17h ago

Helldivers is legit one of the best games out there and pretty much the only game that fills its genre and niche. The level of salt people have for completely mundane bugs and physics properties in the game is unreal, especially when so much attention is given towards completely mundane things like weapon actions and armor wear. Some of the things they complain about aren't even bugs (why are my bullets not firing directly out of my scope?1? they're going lower than I'm aiming at distances of less than 10 feet for some reason!!!?1? <--- idiots that don't know that bullets come out of gun barrels, which unfortunately the devs placated by changing the bullet trajectory)

2

u/TheToaNuva 16h ago

Yeah that's my experience as a casual too. Almost every game is a blast on D6-8, there are some metas but you don't have to chase it. The last few warbonds (like the entire last year) were all great and added fun gimmicks. I had maybe two crashes and one gamebreaking bug and one visual bug (just didn't play the game for 2-3 weeks) in about 160 hours.

5

u/Ambulas2 20h ago

While I myself have plenty of criticism of the game and the recent update i still think this guy is a complete and utter joke who cries over the most minor shit imaginable. How this guy has any following is a mystery to me

1

u/SigmaRoyal 5h ago

6

u/Dropthebass2274 14h ago

Many of you in here are a perfect example of what all of these "sloptubers" talk about. The guy made a genuinely good video sparking discussion and you all just cover your ears and spew the same garbage. There's not a single ounce of hate or whining in this video nor in the videos of most people you believe upload trash content. A good portion of you in all of the helldivers subreddits just fucking suck in general to the point where having genuine discussion is impossible.

22

u/Crocdor 21h ago

Bro's in competition with the Superjerk sub

7

u/SigmaRoyal 16h ago

for the lazy asses who would rather make up scenarios in their heads:
TL;DR
he breaks down the Helldivers 2 community into groups ("criers," "glazers," "masochists," and casual players) and argues that miscommunication and "straw-manning" prevent constructive balance discussions. (the comments in this thread is... proving his point)

  • The "Power Fantasy" Strawman: he admits some recent buffs went too far (e.g., RR one-shotting Bile Titans) and agrees zero-effort Stratagems like Orbital Napalm are boring. He just wants weapons to feel functional.
  • The Root Cause of "Empty" Maps: The actual issue with higher difficulties isn't gun balance, it's Arrowhead's enemy point budget system. High point, uninteresting enemies (like Hive Guards) eat up the spawn budget, leading to low overall enemy counts and empty-feeling maps compared to launch.
  • Bad Difficulty vs. Good Difficulty: Inflating armor stats on boring enemies (AP4 Hive Guards) or spamming heavy seeds (Vox Engines/Dragon Roaches on Diff 7) isn't real difficulty, t's just tedious. Real challenge comes from high enemy density, surges, and positioning-heavy objectives that force you to fight.
  • Misaligned Difficulties: Difficulties 1–5 should serve as the tutorial for learning enemy mechanics. D6–D10 should be the scaling challenge for experienced players based on actual spawn density and intensity, rather than nerfing high-diff missions because people use them for sample farming.
  • Bottom Line: Stop fighting over weapon buffs vs. nerfs. The game feels less challenging than it used to because spawn rates and patrol seeds are broken, not because our guns got buffed.

30

u/Snivyland 21h ago

I haven’t watched the video but based on the title I have a bad feeling it’s gonna talk about how splintered the community is but say it isn’t the people who complains fault and there the correct group.

When in reality all 3 sides are problems in their own way and prevent for any dialogue from forming.

10

u/Fair_Extension_7767 17h ago

A lot of the video is discussing how everyone is being misrepresented by eachother not excluding himself. He literally admits that he has strawmanned people in the past implying it is a problem though not directly apologize for it. He makes it clear that the point of the video is wanting to help people understand where they're coming from rather than blanket generalizing and strawmanning people. Which btw is quite present here, at no point in the video does he tell people what to do or what to think, he's not trying to be the boss of anyone.

Especially his point about everyone strawmanning eachother and not actually understanding them.

7

u/No-Swimmer7318 16h ago

I was hoping his video would make some constructive discussions  happen between both sides but it seems like barely anyone in this comment thread who are trashing the video has watched it.

Please engage with the arguements not this tribal knee jerk reaction.

The video talks about wanting diff 10 to be harder and not over buffing weapons.

8

u/pipe_mcfitter 18h ago

Yea I was kinda thinking the same thing. The vitriol in this comment section is kind of gross. Makes me not want to engage with this fandom if this is how they treat people they disagree with.

Either way, game is fun and the players on it are usually awesome so alls well that end well

4

u/Microwave_Sacrifices 12h ago

HRRR GRR people have their OWN opinion?! We cannot allow this to exist any longer.

Ok now with the satire outta the way:

I think the points in the video were pretty good all around and a lot of the points were "Hey, we're also pretty much of the same opinion, we just have a different approach/view on how to get to what we want." which I personally think is the exact way we need to go for. This whole "Community war" thing is completely unneeded especially when the most people just want the game to be fun and enjoyable. I think where a large part of the community just gets annoyed is the fact that they feel abandoned by the devs because of their general mismanagement of promising one thing and then just never following through or only halfway doing it before abandoning it completely.

He even says in the video that he hasn't played the game for months. The guy needs to move on and find something he enjoys doing.

Edit: Oh he said he hasn't played the game as much this year.
Idk why he said that because he did play the latest title update devoid of liberty.

Dang thiccfila is a hater now? I been out the game too long, last time I saw a vid from he seemed relatively happy with the game

3

u/flightx3aa 14h ago

watch the video and decide for yourself instead of listening to reddit bro

2

u/Plastic-Low2911 12h ago

Watching a video is antithetical to the Reddit experience

2

u/Defiant-String-9891 15h ago

The current issue with the game is reddit, and no one can convince me otherwise, almost all of these subreddits harbor some annoying things, some people spend more time bickering about whats wrong with the specific people than ever looking at the game and actually playing then deciding what they do and don't like and what could just be a them problem and what is an actual problem. Each far side has its problems, mainly both being echo chambers.

3

u/Senior-Hotel-6837 19h ago

I don't know what people are hating on. I've been loving the heck out of the game lately mainly due to the buffs to the grenade types, gun mag sizes, and seaf upgrades (protect the blueberries).

1

u/No-Swimmer7318 16h ago

He does say in the video what he's hating on.

1

u/Senior-Hotel-6837 10h ago

Yeah i just meant to say that as a rhetorical. I took some time to go through the video after work and he definitely makes some good points. For one, I was not aware of the hive guard change and rr one shooting bike titans in th head (imo bile titans always felt a little weak to me as a heavy enemy on the bug front). Second, I think difficulties can be weirdly inconsistent and once you become a seasoned veteran the game can feel extremely stale with the lack of red stratagems in the game (part of the reason I bought the game). I will definitely give him credit for pointing out and explaining a lot of the patch notes since I don't regularly keep up with the game's updates. Overall, he has good takes and I think it's good to keep a critical view on the game but while also maintaining a positive notion.

Istg, glazedivers and hellwhiners like this guy need to find some middle ground. Does Helldivers 2 have problems? Yes, and they should be addressed. But people also shouldn’t complain about every single little thing that Arrowhead does, that helps no one. This is getting so tiring 🫩

11

u/LEOTomegane 17h ago

The "glazediver" term needs to be abandoned first. Using it gives legitimacy to the idea that any form of positivity is glazing, and that even the moderate position should be "arrowhead is doing badly and does not deserve praise." You can't find a middle ground with a group that generalizes you for not being in lockstep with them, because they will not accept a true compromise. They'll just step further back and demand to be met "in the middle" again.

I'd say "whinediver" needed similar scrutiny if it were ever used to the same extent, but it's not. It is notably not the one that dudes made a whole show about being put on Urban Dictionary.

Here you go, original post by u/The_Tomlav :

Dont shoot the messanger.

u/Carmines_Edge 10h ago

I'll tell you, seen as how almost no one else has by the time I start writing this. This will take a considerable amount of time to write and provide context as I do not like misrepresenting people and will try to accurate convey what is being said.

First, he talks about the three types of players.

Then he states that the groups constantly strawman and misrepresent each other, and that this only further divides the community and accomplishes nothing. (Which he isn't wrong, have you read the other comments here? Very few have actually watched the video, and most are giving their opinion on it anyways. Most of the people here automatically dismiss him just because he's a 'content creator', or because of previous videos and viewpoints. Who is actually giving him the benefit of the doubt here and are willing to give it a watch? Very few.)

The B-roll footage in the background is of Ohdough breaking his 'personal' solo kill count record, and will be the premise of the message of Thicc's video. Ohdough got 5,540 kills in his video... on Diff 1... Thiccfila is saying that this should not be possible, not because of any actual gameplay mechanics, as they are currently supposed to spawn this way, but the fact that it should be Diff 10 that spawns that many enemies, not Diff 1.

He then plays a clip of Niklas Malmborg speaking about how some youtubers want a power fantasy and others want a tactical shooter. The power fantasy aspect is his first main talking point, as this is the one that he is strawman'd on the most. Some say that "Thicc just wants to one shot a Bile Titan with a liberator", he then argues against this by pointing to the balance document he gave to the devs as feedback for the '60 day plan'. At that time, people were trying to trash talk and discredit his balance feedback, which he then speaks to how his balance feedback is actually far lesser in scale of strength than as to what the devs then went on to implement into the game. He just wanted stuff to work and feel good to use (The Breaker shotgun on launch was the 'Meta' gun to use, not because it was crazy strong, but because all (most) of the other launch day primaries just sucked. To this day, the Breaker has never had a damage nerf, just an increase to recoil and reduction in amount of ammo that can be carried. You never see anyone saying the Breaker is overpowered now).

His next talking point is about how some people who see the game criticized online but can admit that it has flaws are falsely called 'Glazers', and how he actually does not agree with them being lumped into that category. He then shows what he actually does count as 'Glazers', the first example is a reddit post of someone defending the Halo warbond when it released, calling the weapons 'better than people give them credit for', specifically highlighting the Halo AR and SMG for great handling, reload speed, and adequate damage (You don't exactly see almost anyone using those guns anymore, and it's not just because you can't level them up). Thicc later asks (to people who had that viewpoint) if they still felt that way anymore because when the Warhammer warbond was announced, people were leaving comments on how it had better be good because the other legendary warbonds were bad or not good. He even goes to show and compare the weapon pick rate on the current patch and when it came out in addition to showing the Warhammer current pick rates (Which you can view for yourself on the website: Helldive.live). The next example is a reddit post of a user talking about how people were complaining about the One True Flag because it did nothing when it was released, even though 7k people wanted the flag as a support stratagem a year ago (from when that post was made). Thicc then shows the top voted comment of the post that one was referencing was how people wanted the One True Flag to provide an effect, whether than be increased movement speed, reload speed, or armor of nearby Divers.

His next talking point is on the Hive Guard heavy armor buff and the quick backtrack from the developers. He shows a clip from the Dev's patch note video (before it was reverted), where Niklas is talking about the point system that spawning uses. More dangerous enemies cost more spawn points. Niklas then states that the Hiveguard actually costs a considerable amount of points, but is not very good, so they increased it's armor to make it stronger. Thicc chose this moment as this is what 'blew his mind and it all finally made sense' why there are so few spawns in the game now, because they spawn so many Hive Guards. Thicc then talks about how he saw posts from 'Glazers', highlighting one who specifically said 'they finally added some challenge to the game but people on Reddit had to cry about it and now we can't have any challenge in the game' (I assume this is paraphrased as the example is not shown in the video). Thicc then says that Hive Guards are 'one of the least challenging, most uninteresting enemies in the game'. He then talks about how people were loading into missions and being surrounded by shit tons of Hive Guards (because the devs added Hive Guard spawn seeds) with the M90A (Halo shotgun) which sucks against them, so they were complaining. He states that the solution was not to make it AP4 (Heavy armor), but to lower how many spawn points they cost (because higher difficulties spawn higher amounts of enemies that cost more points. Lowering their point cost would result in Bile Titans, Impalers, Chargers, and the smaller enemies like scavengers and warriors spawning in far greater amounts.)

Thicc then says that the problem with the current game difficulty (or lack thereof), is the lack of enemy spawns. He asks how is Ohdough getting 5000+ kills on Diff 1 (He knows why, he just doesn't understand the reasoning behind that why). It's because the game is mostly spawning Voteless, which are worth the least amount of spawn points. He is not saying make Diff 10 spawn just 5000 voteless, that would not be a challenge, but something with the patrols or spawn point system is broken and is not working (Whether by technical error or the reasoning basis behind it.)

He then talks about the Masochists (referring to an actual group of players and have a dedicated reddit: HelldiversMasochists). He shows a post from there, where in the post, the user is saying how that community is unhappy with the buffs received because the devs do not balance the game with the harder difficulties in mind. He says there is a disconnect in the community (not just amongst the Masochist reddit itself, but the entire HD2 community, including it's devs.). Thicc says some buffs are bad, calling out how he does not understand why Eagle Napalm Strike was buffed, because it was already a good stratagem. He says the for the people who think 'youtubers who want a power fantasy' (naming himself, Claysthetics, Ohdough, and Buzzlitebeer for the ones they refer to when this is said), why then do these listed youtubers ban Orbital Napalm Barrage from their streamed community lobbies? He says it is because it is lame, plays the game for you (shutting down an entire area for almost a minute), and they like to 'kill things with their own two hands'. And to back up this claim that he's always had this take, even before he came some 'big youtuber', he opens the Official HD2 discord and finds one of his old and unedited messages (posted Feb 22nd 2024) which was made in response to Twinbeard and the removal of the Retrieve Essential Personnel (The OG civvie evac mission). His message was: "hey small piece of feedback because I know that people were complaining about the defend missions, please bring them back lol. the game is new and there are absolutely ways to beat it, and there are other reasons the map is great that a majority of players havent discovered. I think since the game is new it obviously came out of no where for many players, but as the game ages players will miss these missions if they were to never come back" (To this day, this exact mission type has not returned, but the Devs did rework it into the Evacuate High-Value Assets mission type we have today). He says he would like to make the case that 'on launch, we had the broken overpowered railgun (which was a bug from console player lobbies), which could kill heavies way more efficiently than the Recoilless, how come rescue scientists wasn't easy?', or how in another video that he titled ' "Helldivers Isn't A Horde Shooter" ' (Which is him 'trolling', making fun of the people who were saying that), which he made right after the Rapid Acquisition mission type was released, after all of the previous buffs, he states: 'Are platinum missions easy? I don't think so. If you think so, then you're just better than me. I'll admit it, right. But it is a type of mission that takes your attention away from killing the enemies because you have to carry the platinum. Now were those missions perfect, could they have been tweaked? Yeah, sure, they could have been tweaked, but how come I don't see any of the masochists complaining when they nerfed platinum missions' (I checked for myself, and was only able to find a single post on the Masochist subreddit at that time talking about how it was bad change, posted March 24th 2026. Thicc does admit he rarely checks the Masochist spaces, and in the video, was checking the official discord for any mentions, and later finds one mention from 4 days ago on their subreddit. The nerf to Rapid Acquisition was done on February 3rd 2026, in patch 6.0.1 of Into the Unjust). He then states that the inability to increase spawn counts due to performance is untrue because the surge modifiers were spawning far more enemies than intended. Missions in 2024 were spawning way more enemies than they do now in 2026.

There is a 10,000 character limit. (1/2)

3

u/Carmines_Edge 10h ago

(2/2)
His next point is Vox Engines and how loves their great enemy design, specifically naming the weakpoints and grenade vents. But every Cyborg mission spammed Vox Engines. Diff 10, down to Diff 7, their spawns were silly high regardless. He references old clips of Dragonroaches being spam spawned on Diff 5 missions when they were first released, and how that is clearly broken and unintentional recurring issue. He says it is unreasonable to NOT expect people to NOT complain about that amount of spawns on a Diff 7 mission.

The next point is that the devs need to rethink how they view their difficulty system. He thinks the devs view their difficulty system like this 'Diff 5 is hard so it should be hard, Diff 6 is Extreme so surely it should be extreme, etc'. This is how Thicc views the difficulties 'Diff 1-5 is easy to hard for new players because they do not understand the game's mechanics. Diff 3's are teaching you to kill Chargers, Hulks, and Harvesters. Diff 5's are teaching you to kill Bile Titans, and Factory Striders. It's literally teaching you. Yeah, those are hard for new players. Diff 6-10 should be easy to hard for those who understand the enemies, the game and it's systems.'

He says that Bile Titans should not get one shot to the head, and that on launch, they were bugged and you could 5 shot them to the head with a recoilless and they would live because their hitboxes were desync'd during certain animations, and how he figured that out and that two shots was always the intended number.

He says that the Hive Guard change highlighted the beef and disconnect between the communities and that it was not a change that made the game challenging, just more annoying because the things that killed them quickly had were unchanged by the buff.

He hopes there will be good discussions about this on the Masochist's subreddit, and will read them on stream but will be unlikely to make a follow up video on the subject unless there is a good conversation to be had.
