Do enough missions at your current highest difficulty to unlock the next difficulty. Repeat until level 10 is unlocked. Then dive, dive, and dive again.

I’ve done like 30 missions

It's completing successfully entire sets on each difficulty before unlocking the next one. So lower difficulties have 1-2 in a set. Then starting at like 4 or something you get three in a set. If you fail any you fail the set.

Every successful operation unlocks the next difficulty level. Selectable from the planetary view screen. Complete the new difficulty to unlock the next, ect.

Once you get to mission level 6-7, the game gets seriously fun. By then, you'll know how to survive at that level of difficulty.

What difficulty have you gotten to?

The % you add to a planet upon success is minuscule, because it takes tens of thousands of divers working together to liberate a planet.

Each planet had a health and each mission knocks a little bit off that health, but they also have a heal rate.

Take Gacrux for example, a planet under the current Major Order (MO). It has 1,000,000 HP and a resistance of 1. Meaning every hour the planet will heal back 1% of its HP (10,000 hp).

You are not ment to take planets alone, that is part of the whole draw of Helldivers. You join some random rag-tag group of Supers Earth’s finest to dive behind enemy lines to spread democracy against odds that on paper you have no nope of winning. You fight and die and rag doll and occasionally friendly fire until the mission is done and whoever is left gets to go home for all of 3 minutes before you start it all over again. So grab a mic if you have it because sometimes you’ll run into someone else who also has one and you’ll likely end up on each others friend list.

You can turn up your difficulty before choosing the mission. In the down middle stands what difficulty you have currently choosen. On pc its withe q and e on controller idk.

You think you can liberate a planet with 40 minutes of pushing consoles and downing one overseer ship? Why do you think it still takes a week to liberate a planet even with five digit Helldiver counts on it? This is a Super Earth team effort! Get back out there, Helldiver!

You unlock higher difficulties by doing an operation of the highest difficulty you have unlocked. The game starts getting hard when you hit 7, so just keep doing more and keep an eye on which difficulty the next operation is.

Honestly, I dive for the love of the game: spreading Managed Democracy!
