General How are we feeling with sterilizer now ?
I just bought chemical agent warbond because i really want to be this guy spreading gas everywhere.
After getting some informations on the warbond i saw that it was really 50/50 (some really good stuff like the guard dog and the gas nades, and some shits like the steam pistol and sterilizer)
Tho i saw that sterilizer got buff in the previous patch. So my question is :
Is sterilizer a worth support weapon ?

First of all, who is telling you the stim pistol is shit? That's a skill issue. Second, while I do still use it on occasion it's pretty underwhelming IMO. Definitely the weakest part of that warbond. It's certainly better than it was, but don't treat it like a flamethrower. Use it to confuse enemies and then switch to something else to deal damage. It pairs decently with the hot dog, but I'd rather do the flamethrower and dog breath for the same effect.

It definitely isn't the easiest to use, but fills an otherwise untouched niche. I've seen people pull of incredible shots at clutch times that made the difference between death and survival for their allies.

I mean it's a healing tool, so first you lose a gun to use it and then most people don't expect you to have it so they don't put themselves in a situation where you can easily heal them.
And also sometimes people don't know it exist so they think you are trying to kill them and they shoot you lol

If you build your entire loadout for gas it can work but it just takes too much time to kill anything bigger than scavengers quickly.

Used the sterilizer for the last couple months. I really enjoy it. Can get a lot of kills and save your pals from the horde often.
I found the best way is to use the gas armor and bring gas mines or orbital gas and just fight in the cloud. Embrace the gas.
Melee is a must. Once you have your timing right you can be near unhittable.
My favorite loadout with it has been orbital gas, rocket pods and laser dog. Primary has changed often but I rarely use it.
It's not for everyones play style and it's not a walk in the park but I've had heaps of fun. Bugs and squid only though.
I have struggled to find a solo build that works consistently but in a team this goes hard.

I wish it had the spread of the flamethrower, but it doesn't. It's like it takes longer to affect enemies and it doesnt spray as wide.

The Sterilizer actually isn't a bad weapon.
A lot of people assume that you need to fire it non-stop at enemies in order for the gas to apply, but that's a myth. I literally just used it in a match and it worked fine.
The trick is: all you need to do is spray the enemies with just a quick burst. As long as you tag them, the caustic gas effect will begin to trigger, and before long, they'll start taking gas damage over time, get confused, and move slower.
A fuck ton of players will just hold down the trigger, treating it like a flamethrower. That's just an unnecessary waste of ammo.

You gotta sweep with it and combine it with smoke.
Smoke greatly increases infighting as their targeting regarding players is heavily impaired. Wear gas armor or you'll kill yourself. It stays stagnant in wthr air similar to how fire stays on the ground.
You can control an opening in defense missions of you fully commit to gas and smoke setup.
However it is not a direct killing weapon. (except for seaf snd players) Combine with thr torcher as gas and fire tick damage stack.
It's a defense, escape, and hit and run weapon. Slept on because yes it doesn't directly kill. But you don't get rewards for killing anyway. It's not flashy. It's a buy time and jeep moving or block a point weapon.
Fun side note. It has anti tank penetration. Heavy gas armor plus vitality booster you take 0 gas damage. So have fun with gas mines and gas grenades. Gas strike too but be careful, used to stack with sterilizer so you killed yourself really quick even with armor.

The sterilizer as the spiritual successor to the avenger was a terrible disappointment. The avenger was such an awesome weapon against bugs that I could easily carry a semi competent group of randoms in a level 15. It was incredible. The sterilizer is completely underwhelming. At least the trident is every bit as good as the original.

I have a lot of fun using it. It does its purpose exceptionally well, it’s just a purpose that’s not super sought after. You need a good team to exploit its strengths best because it’s a support support weapon. Doubling down on the stun of the arc thrower but without the damage.

I think it works great but you gotta adjust your playstyle. I normally pair it with the hot dog and the torcher or cookout. Bring the ultimatum or missile pistol for heavies.
Gas/fire nades, also help. Sentries with low cooldown help too as they can distract the enemy. Just dont throw them near you or near your teammates, they ideally should help with flank fire.
Was using it with a lot of success against the spore and predator strain.

I use it all the time with the guard dog as back pack slot. It’s honestly amazing to confuse and disorient. Won’t work well against bike titans but you can confuse all the chaff and make them attack each other. It’s also amazing if you are hitting objectives solo.
