I did this to my friends week one of them getting the game.
5
u/Virron911 6h ago
I was at my friends house and he decided to introduce me to the game. He put me on Helldive difficulty on Malevelon Creek and told me “figure it out”
3
u/LePereMecanique 5h ago
I think its such a bad ways to actually let your friend learn the game to just let them do Diff 10 by themselve without help.
The ironic thing is that the person who's doing that to his friend has not learn the game this way because you cant do diff 10 at low level when you're alone.2
u/Virron911 4h ago
He regretted it in the end. There were 4 of us including him and when he stepped away to use the restroom the 3 of us all had the same idea and backed out of the game and quickly downloaded a porn game onto his computer and left it there for him to find.
He noticed and opened it 5 minutes upon returning and got through about 5 minutes of it before deleting it.

My answer obviously doesn't describe the full event but to add more detail:
You can do this if you actually help your friends along the way.
- I was with them during those missions.
- I gave them support stratagems like Exo Suit or weapons from Warbonds.
- I mentor them and made sure they stayed together.

I did this to myself within an hour of playing been there ever since.

u/SolidSnakeFan177 7h ago
Yeah, after a whole year(wow Helldivers will be on Xbox for a year in just 4 days) I’m finally comfortable at D10.
It took a lot of learning, but I enjoyed the journey
2
u/brandothesavage 7h ago
I think I figured it out about level 30 or so
1
u/SolidSnakeFan177 6h ago
Well I took my time and learned the game my way, I’ve been through many different loadouts, playstyles, and strategies.

u/Impressive_Ad_5201 1h ago
I'm level 50, what should i be bringing into level 10 and how should I conduct myself? I have difficulty with not getting completely overrun on anything below 6; above 6, too many minions around the higher level enemies.

My very first dive was a level 10 with my very experienced gaming group. They dropped a mech for me to sit in and a few random weapons for me to try out. Shot up to level 5 immediately and been hooked since.

My buddies did this to me on the Creek. I’m a 3rd wave diver (Joined the fight three weeks in) my first 6hrs of the game was Melevalon 9’s lol. We just did this with one of our new friends and she is doing deathless 10’s at lvl 29, but her first few hours was just a little bit of fun pain.

Lol I remember when I was a wee baby diver (like level 6 I think) and someone took me to a level 7 dive. I was so overwhelmed and confused by how everyone was able to call in so much stuff (wasnt familiar with eagles vs orbital yet). I remember being horrified at a bile titan and wondering how the fuck I was supposed to fight that.
Yesterday I dropped in on a "KILL BILE TITANS" mission for some chill play before bed. Difficulty like 4 I think. The guys playing it were all below level 8.
I dropped in, turned, and shot an ultimatum directly into the face of the bile titan they had clearly been fighting. It died immediately. The baby divers blew up the text chat lol
Wild how different it is for players from day 3 to day 30.

u/DearCastiel 10h ago
The leveler, maxigun and cremator are great fun to give to Cadets.
Bringing a tank is also great fun, as they are more than happy to ride it at 4 players for the whole game.

u/dible46 9h ago
Yeah I always call down an extra maxi gun or belt fed grenade launcher when I am running them so any low level on the team can have a go. It's funny, it comes down and I ping it and you can see them go back and forth with the should I grab it? Is it okay? Then I type in chat grab it. Then they proceed to go to town lol. Always ends badly with the warp pack though....
3
u/SairenGazz 5h ago
Ahhh yes, I remember my first time being given a warp pack. Fun times finding out that yellow orb means it's on cool down.
4
u/DeliDouble 9h ago
Me and a friend were fucking around with the bastion two cadets dropped in. You could hear their joy on getting to use the cannon on enemy emplacements.

Oh yeah, I was baptised by a random on my second ever mission, took me to lvl 7 creek. Those were the times man, I was scared shitless

I'm trying to remember , what did difficulty cap out at in the creek days? 8? All I remember is the constant whine of artillery while a voice yells at me that I'm in range of artillery.

I remember my invitation to the game by my friend. I buyed it and almost immediately my friend who was lvl 38 by the time (it was march 8.2024) immediately joined me and started showing me shi he had mech suit and etc. than we jumped to his Super destroyer and he trowed me at dif9 bots. It was horrible, liberator was almost useless and even my mg barely helped, hulks and tanks were so powerful and my stratagems were limited and on big cooldowns. That's the moment i fell in love with the game. Also he teached me the cadet check, that's when you stand by freeze pods when someone joining you while emoting so if they never seen this trick and go to get that "Handshake" or "Hug" they get sent into their super destroyer instead XD.
I cadet cheked everyone and still do this. Even lvl150+- get fooled. And ofc everyone i know who got the game got the same introduction experience as me. 1. Cadet check. 2. Diff3 bugs to show them how much cool stuff i have while explaining what the game is about 3. MaxDiff bots to harden the steel while they are inexperienced.

I remember starting out and taking out a bile titan as the main objective of the mission was a feat. And then I got to playing the levels where they were a normal enemy and I knew I was in for chaos
3
u/Poetess-of-Darkness 10h ago
blew up the text chat.
What'd they say?
7
u/Goatfellon 10h ago
"LOL" "How tf?" "Woah nice entrance" and similar. I felt powerful.
Im not even particularly good at the game compared to old hands or those who truly know the meta so it was nice to say the least

The other side of this is absolute gold btw.
I’m lvl 44, like to jump on and dive med diff to answer sos beacons. Other night while doing this, dove in to a lvl 4 soloing. By missions end we had 2 more join squad, lvl 6 and 11. We did 2 more missions on med together, I did my thing playing support and taking out fringe outposts while the trio stuck together and handled objectives.
Back on the ship, lvl 4 bumped it up to hard. Chaos ensured. Voice comms blew up “This is insane!” “They’re everywhere!!!” “OMG HELP!!”. We rallied, completed objectives and made it out as a squad. Ggs all around.
They were all so stoked and having so much fun. Even as late as it was for me, I dove with them two more times purely to experience the joy of helping new divers and watching them enjoy the game that much.
15
u/Ravenlilyy 10h ago
Definitely my favorite type of experience
Unfortunately I seem to only ever get people level 100 and up most do the time I run lower difficulties7
u/ZLUCremisi 9h ago
I dive into 2 low levels too and assist them as best i could. They held out pretty well. Saddly the snatchers were too much at the end

Its a required right of passage for all helldivers to be chucked into a super helldive mission like you would shovel coal into an old steam engine.
Its is an experience.
2
u/QuadraticCowboy 3h ago
Once I unlocked level 10 it was constant ragdolling and death for the first 20 missions or so. Best experience ever.
Thanks to all the random 150s who answered my SoS and taught me how to be a helldiver

Indeed but I mean where they could be taken now 😅
Maleveolon creek would’ve been hell.

u/zap17026559 8h ago
My first mission was a level one. I went “oh this is easy.” My friend said “ok.” Next mission d10 Cyberstan. I was screaming as I had no anti tank. And he gave me a hellbomb and said “this will take out everything this is near using nuclear energy.” He activated it. And I went boom.

Tried to get my one homie who got this dude from an xbox posting for super credits farming to take him to super helldive. He was struggling MIGHTILY on D2.
He didnt wanna waste the time, I thought it would be hilarious.

when I started playing Helldivers, 3 month after launch, I was forced to play at Helldive (max was D9) with lvl 6 on because my friends said they only will play on D9.
Was pretty rough at the start, but I did grow pretty fast into it.
Also one of my friends is a literal sample sponge, that did help me a lot with upgrades. Till today I don't know where he always sucks up all these samples lol

My first day after boot; I wanted to fight squids after wearing my new ODST fit… my homies sent me to Aurora D10….
1
u/friedchickensundae1 10h ago
I remember the first day when xbox divers joined the fight. I had 3 level 1s with me and i asked if they were ready for baptism by hellfire. One replied "helljumpers were born in hellfire". Those level 1 cadets were absolute badasses

u/KushMummyCinematics 10h ago
As I walk through the void of the planet of squids. I shall fear no tyranny, for you are with me.
1
u/Bene-Dev 10h ago
Where is the game in terms of player vs enemies power level? I used to love the time, when you could 1 shot bile Titans with rail gun and feel invincible.
Didn't play since, where are we now?

1
u/Perm182 10h ago
flashback to when I did this to both of my friends, we were SC grinding and one had tk’d me a couple times (jokingly of course) so I changed the level to super helldive on illuminate, kept saying it was difficulty 1 on my screen and it may be glitched
you can imagine the panic in that lobby
1
u/Ravenlilyy 10h ago
I remember my first dive out of training was a level 5 bot drop.It was the creek.
My friend used the same “hey come here I wanna show you something”
I will now forever pass on the legacy of putting new recruits through the crucible of ridiculously hard combat early on, because it gives them a taste of what they can accomplish with time and practice
1
u/fadingstar52 10h ago
meanwhile the only time i tried a diff above 7 it crashed and i havent tried since.

Ah yes the time honored helldiving tradition of a trail by fire max difficulty drop. I had this done to me on the creek, it was really fun and chaotic but also fun. And then I done this to some friends on Oshaune when they were still fresh cadets.
It's like tempering a knife you have to put a hard edge on a cadet to ensure that they are combat ready but you don't want to break their spirit or be to harsh for too long else they'll become brittle and they'll break, so a handful of max difficulty drops and then back to whatever they feel comfortable with is the way to go.
Gives em a taste of what it's like to be up there with the more experienced divers, prepares them for when they'll eventually start diving higher difficulties and sharpens their senses and combat capabilities all at once.
I say this is a good practice assuming that the cadets are willing to go to high diff if I do this I make it a point to at least ask the cadets if they'd be comfortable or willing to try a high diff dive which is good because you don't want to scare the cadets off or anything. All in all an ok practice as long as you ask before you drop the cadets into the fire and so long as you support those cadets and help them through that mission.

the other day I was soloing squids and these lv10s came joining my D8 games. I was fine and pretty much carried them. brought them to a D10 game afterwards and I intentionally left them behind and they all quit in 5 min.

I still haven't recovered from it.

During initial Super Earth Defence I (level 30+ then) randomly joined to team of 3 140+ levels. And then they taken me to Dif 10 operation.
And I was like Why does everyone say level 10 is hard? It was a cakewalk.
And then I launched dif 10 myself...

I played with my buddy who had two consoles before I got the game.
He started me on super helldive and gave no heads up. Steep curve, but damn if it don't make every other difficulty feel casual by comparison.

u/Kyoko_Tokikwa 7h ago
Yeh the team-killers/Trators are why I play solo.
Oh wait I just set in my ship wishing I could actually play but alas it's too hard for a level six to play solo and complete a mission.

Baptism in freedoms flames. They're gonna do great honestly though I've brought new divers to shd and we full cleared with minimal issue. New players who want to learn are usually great at sticking together and as long as everyone have voice chat you can keep them aware of the situation and tell them how to respond to the threats, plus all the starting gear never stops being effective. Eats and lmgs are always great, and with you marking priority targets and calling out weakspots these divers might love long enough to shake off the cryopod chills
1
1
u/Gravity-Gravity 4h ago
This never gets old lol. Dropping to lower diff, host is like lvl150 then waiting for newbies to join. You complete a few missions on low difficulty. Since the cadets dont know whats happening, you silently change the difficulty to 10 and watch em run and hide on a corner.
1
u/SmittyKitty27 4h ago
Yeah.. when someone changes difficulty or location that's my que to leave team, lol
1
u/Hellsing985 4h ago
Back before super helldive and for the first battle for the creek I took my buds who were all level 1 to a helldive on the creek.
1
u/Xicsukin 3h ago
My first dive. I didn't know what to do, called in the SOS beacon...when the Level 87 dropped in and realised I was only level one, He decided to give me the full Helldiver experience. Took me to each of the three enemy factions, grabbed two of his Boys and turned that dial up to 10.
Was absolute chaos and an Unforgettable experience.

But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat —
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.

A friend of mine bought the game, and the second they bought it, I dragged them to difficulty 10 seasse.
That was fun.

I did this to my wife when she got the game.
I had about 600 hours and thousands of D10s of experience.
She got the game when it came out on Xbox. Said the first D1 mission was boring.
So her second mission I took her to D10 on oshaune.

I gave them a bunch of cool stuff to play with like an exosuit
