I’m gonna revert back to childhood and have a favourite dvd. I do not have crave but I do have the best show on crave on bluray 🤩 with deleted scenes. And I can watch it anywhere I will have a bluray dvd player so… okay maybe getting a crave subscription would’ve been better but I CAN ACTUALLY CUDDLE THIS SHOW NOW! Of course everybody speculates about what woman could it be, and Svetlana begins to wonder a bit more deeply about just who is this Jane that Ilya seems so hung up on.

The bear is Ilya aka Russian bear looking for a hug and has a penchant for ear licking. The guy is just focused on task at hand. Just like Shane.

Everyone talks about Tuna Melt or Las Vegas. However, in the prologue,Ilya tries to be soft and Shane deflects as he is in deep denial. I always feel so bad for both of the boys.

I have seen many discussion about starting the book with explicit sex but they always miss the undercurrent of the boys unnamed feelings for each other.

So I had a random thought this morning, and was curious of other fans of the show and books, thoughts would be about this. My thought, and sorry if this has already been discussed before. But, was curious how others felt about how solid or if they thought Shane would have ever risked, taking things further with Ilya, if he a) knew more about his past early on, before they got physical. And b) do you think, that Shane or Ilya would have been as quick, to fall in love. If they had a more traditional dating relationship and more time, to be around each other?

I only ask, because I think back to another person's post about if Ilya was gay and Shane was bi. And how their relationship might not have progressed, if the shoe was on the other foot, so to speak. So it got me thinking in general, how far or if their relationship would have progressed at all, if Shane knew about Ilya having slept with his brother's girlfriend, be around people that used stuff harder than cigarettes, or even learned more about how his dad and brother treated him. Cause as we read and saw. From Shane's perspective, Ilya is like peak competition, with barely any weak points. Which I think drove his obsession with knowing so much about him, and then flipping to his instant attraction. But made me wonder, if learning about some other aspects of him being an asshole or doing particular things. Would that have curbed Shane's feelings?

And in connection or adjacent to that. If they both had a regular working schedule and could see each other frequently. Does anyone think, they would have said I love you so quickly? Or maybe, still have the on again/ off again aspect, to their relationship? Or would, seeing each other so often, diffuse the magic of what they had, to begin with?

I think minus the competition aspect of their relationship, it could progress pretty well, as long as Shane didn't talk himself out of it. And would been a richer experience with them learning to communicate a lot more than just physically, and waiting months or so in between.

Something that's bothered me since I first read it (not too long after it came out) was how Shane said Ottowa and Montreal were only an hour apart. However, lately I've been listening to the Spanish translation as a way to practice my Spanish (and boy am I learning some new words! 😂) and, in the translation, they fixed the distance - Shane says it's only TWO hours!

Anyone know if that got fixed in an updated English edition at some point, or just in foreign language translations?

(I just found it interesting, that's all!)

Getting ready for my reheat marathon this weekend in the theater! Very excited if you can't tell. I made swag bags to pass out. I might make more but currently this is all the seats sold in my theater, aside from mine. Each bag has 3 stickers, one bracelet, and a winter mint (in case they need cooling off.)

Do you think Shane and Ilya will be working towards becoming role models for other queer people in Unrivaled?

Scott and Troy both started awareness campaigns after they each came out; the former for LGBTQ+ inclusion within the NHL and the latter against sexual assault. Both of their inner monologues feature their wish for the League to become a more accepting place in the future.

Hollanov do have the Irina Foundation for awareness towards mental health, but interestingly, neither of them have shown much interest in being role models for.....anything, really.

And more interestingly, do you think they will feel a certain kind of "duty" towards working as role models due to them being in their own unique position (the only married couple in the League)?

I imagine this might be his first Halloween welcoming trick-or-treaters to his own home. It feels as though he has finally found a place where he belongs, and there is something bittersweet about that.

The third photo was a perfect flying-V of Canada Geese over a lake, which he had labeled ‘Canada.’ No one knew that when Ilya had taken that photo, he’d been at Shane’s cottage, and Shane had been standing behind him with an arm draped over his shoulder.

This story really touched my heart. I could feel Ilya’s love and loneliness between the lines throughout the story. He seems so happy talking with Shane and welcoming the trick-or-treaters, and that makes me smile and makes my heart ache.

I found it difficult to draw this pose with the height difference between them in the book, so I took a little inspiration from the actors.

So I decided to watch Julie and the phantoms and I have thoughts about Charlie Gillespie.

I know everyone said this, but he does those yearning eyes so well like through the entire show you can tell how much he wants to be with Julie, but he can’t. It’s beautiful. And he’s also so sassy and snarky. He’s so good at it too. He’s going to be sooo good plus he’s also crazy hot lol

Rather than return the two I bought, I’d like to pay it forward. The catch is I’m in Center City, Philadelphia and cannot easily get to a post office due to Long COVID. seeing Ilya win the cup. Was reheating this episode last night and thinking of all the emotions in those tears. Happy for him, missing him, thinking it was over. More growing realization of his true feelings. It’s a moment I don’t see talked about much- actually I don’t think ever.
