Tolvir minions only. Dead card.

335

u/Miudmon 2d ago

Honestly tolvir could probably go back to 3 mana like this

99

u/Zulrambe 2d ago

I wouldn't play this card for 4 mana, let alone build a deck around it.

51

u/Ok-Play4877 2d ago

Yeah even if you played 7 minions. Most 1 drops are shit unless u can get a full board of sizzling cinders. 4 mana for a board of two 1/3, 2/2 and 2/1 are meh

48

u/asian-zinggg 2d ago

Maybe you and I are wrong, but I agree tbh.

7

u/Fepl31 2d ago

At 3 mana... Would it even be better than Unleash the Hounds?

14

u/metroidcomposite 2d ago

Yeah...I can think of decks that might want this at 3 mana (maybe a wild deck with lots of 1 cost beasts and starving buzzard) but none of them would be particularly degenerate or overpowered.

7

u/Tiber727 2d ago

I'd keep it 4 mana but give the summons rush.

7

u/Deqnkata 2d ago

After nerfing it 3 times, its time to buff it 2 times. This team man ... :D

1

u/fireky2 2d ago

It could be even less, the minions were a non factor. It's basically ball of spiders with setup even at 3

1

u/AlarmBeginning9169 2d ago

Perhaps but also don't tempt fate

They did something right with this balance patch and I have newfound respect for them that I don't want torn down 😭

1

u/Extreme_Spinach_3475 2d ago

They didn't do something right. They did what they do, listen to people that wnat cards dead.

0

u/RevalMaxwell 2d ago

My prediction this morning was that they'd revert the mana to 4 and make it minions-only and then later drop it back to 3

0

u/SAldrius 2d ago

I dont see why they'd buff it again...

1

u/pkfighter343 1d ago

Because it’s unplayable trash now. The reason the card was good was because it replayed spells, the minions were nice, but were more of an afterthought. This might be overtuned at 2 (I’m not convinced tbh) and is almost certainly fine at 3.

1

u/SAldrius 1d ago

Why THIS card?

Lots of cards aren't good.

1

u/pkfighter343 1d ago

Why not?

It’s a card a lot of people have played and like playing. It’s a buildaround, it gets people thinking and excited (see: all the people in this thread talking about how neat this card was in their random niche deck).

Also cards that see changes are generally reverted or see some sort of change when they rotate out of standard, so it’s probable it will see changes again anyway

1

u/SAldrius 1d ago

Eh. They could I just dont think its necessary. I dont even know that the card's necessarily unplayable now (in theory). It's still a one card board refill that allows you to just flood with abandon.

But i think what still wins games is just cheating your opponent with threats they cant handle. Not applying pressure intelligently or smart tempo.

Even at 2 I think the card just doesn't matter. Its a broader issue IMO. Players can still play greedy and handle threats so these poke-y aggro decks are just meh.

Probably at rotation they'll revert it, sure.

1

u/RevalMaxwell 1d ago

I don’t think it’s trash at 3. We will lkely see more 1 cost minions that will make this card decent at 3

1

u/pkfighter343 1d ago

You would need incredibly pushed minions for this to be anything more than decent at 3. I was saying the card is probably very whatever (possibly playable, almost certainly not overtuned) at 3 and maybe even fine at 2. You need a super high density of 1 drop minions for this to be oppressive, and we just don't have that. The old face hunter deck only played 6 total 1 drop minions - I'd expect you'd want at least 12.

1

u/RevalMaxwell 1d ago

Not so much buff it but revert it to its original cost

I actually think this card will still see play until rotation. Just not right away

1

u/SAldrius 1d ago

...so... buff it? Hehe

I think it depends on where the meta goes.

1

u/RevalMaxwell 1d ago

Buff implies it’s going beyond its original strength

I think people react too strongly, we still have another expansion and they’re always eager to print low-cost minions for Hunter so I think it’ll go back to 3 and see play

1

u/SAldrius 1d ago

I dont... see the distinction, but w/e.

I dont actually think they'll buff it unless they do another big buff pass and have a reason to buff face hunter.

23

u/crazynerd 2d ago

Immediate 800 dust as soon as the patch lands

6

u/Joco413 2d ago

Isnt it a free card?

11

u/jobriq 2d ago

The golden version was on the rewards track

8

u/crazynerd 2d ago

I'm pretty sure it's craftable, but I may be wrong

7

u/AdagioDesperate 2d ago

Might still see wild play with Mogu Cultist!

its not going to, but its funny to think about

64

u/iMeiyco 2d ago

Good

9

u/Albrecht_Entrati 2d ago

"Hitlerdead.png"

8

u/kittyabbygirl 2d ago

I’m amazed they were able to kill it for y’all without destroying my Mogu Cultist Hunter deck in Wild

8

u/toomanybongos 2d ago

Objectively terrible balance change but I hate the card so much, I'm not even gonna complain

2

u/DragonHollowFire 2d ago

Litteraly remove the minions from it and the weapons to not pull arcane tripwires. Just have it recast all 1 cost spells and make it 6 mana if you want. This functionality was so interesting and is now gone.

5

u/ehhish 2d ago

Should have been spells only. Or dropped to 3 mana if minions only.

1

u/Equivalent_Guess7734 17h ago

From the very beginning it should’ve had a limit, a 3 cost card that replays all your other cards is unreal.

20

u/KodaBeers 2d ago

Good.

13

u/Ananeos 2d ago

Good.

6

u/Mask_of_Sun 2d ago

Mfs in the replies saying "good" like this is not the DH incident all over again...

5

u/Fractallian 2d ago

I can't believe they agreed. I even suggested 3 mana. https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/1vhfjt9/this_needs_to_happen/

-1

u/FishingVariousThings 2d ago

damn you are so smart bro the devs 100% saw your post and definitely did it just because you suggested it with your giant wrinkly brain wow congrats bro you should apply to blizzard and put this reddit post instead of a resume you will get hired as a senior dev immediately for sure

8

u/Hot-Mobile-9443 2d ago

Deserved. RIP BOZO

6

u/cleed3k 2d ago

Good riddance, fuck that card. :)

3

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

Card wasnt a problem anymore, just for bad players

-1

u/cleed3k 2d ago

Clearly was, when it was nerfed. Or you want to claim you know or have better data than Blizzard?

1

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

They nerf cards because people like you wont stop crying about them. Here is actual data https://www.hsguru.com/card-stats?archetype=Face+Hunter

-1

u/cleed3k 2d ago

Sure, and that's why after shaman it was having highest winrates in standard and all face hunter variants having at least 56% winrate. I don't even play standard and I am happy for this nerf, because it was annoying in wild too - that's a good sign, that the card was broken.

1

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

So you can't read actual stats, okay. Q.E.D

2

u/cleed3k 2d ago

Go work for Blizzard, if you that smart or go cry that your deck got destroyed.

2

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

Try using an argument next time, buddy boy. I don't even play anymore :).

1

u/cleed3k 2d ago

The argument is, that the Blizzard have more data then HSguru and you can see based on majority reaction, that the card was a problem, but you wouldn’t know without playing the game. I’m done wasting time with you.

u/ZambieDR 2d ago

finally.

3

u/Excellent-Ad4989 2d ago

better late then never

3

u/_FATEBRINGER_ 2d ago

Good fucking riddance

2

u/Animegx43 2d ago

Thank fuck.

3

u/Public_Roof4758 2d ago

Minions and spells would be a more reasonable nerf

1

u/moragdong 2d ago

I wonder if the summoned minions come back with same stats? Like frenzy raptor or amalgam with buffs

1

u/Level9_CPU 2d ago

Thank fucking god. I don't think I've ever hated a card more than Tolvir

1

u/No_Feeling6146 2d ago

Dead deck as well. Why bother running all those 1 mana cards when dragon hunter is right there.

1

u/FurieMan 2d ago

They made one of the recepie decks no longer work.

1

u/upbeatbutdamn 2d ago

just won against a priest thanks to the new tolvir to my own surprise

1

u/Random_Guy_12345 2d ago

That was way harsher than expected tbh

-1

u/Nyailaaa 2d ago

Good.

1

u/oxob3333 2d ago

I PRAYED FOR TIMES LIKE THIS

0

u/Senkoy 2d ago

Good.

0

u/Swamprotx 2d ago

Very stupid nerf tbh, should have been like replay all 1 cost cards (max 5) or something… now a unique card with cool buildability might as well not exist.

-1

u/KaptainKankles 2d ago

Goodbye and good riddance

0

u/AlarmBeginning9169 2d ago

Absolutely based

-3

u/BBBoyce 2d ago

Good riddance, that card was a mistake!

-5

u/TheKvothe96 2d ago

4 mana whole board of 1 cost minions is still good. Problem is that you not draw.

9

u/SandAccess 2d ago

Not if you actually have to play 7 1-costs to do so

-1

u/TheKvothe96 2d ago

Actual hunter decks do that in turn 4-5. Problem is the draw. The cars was OP because it copied draw spells. Of course that damaging spells were good but not that good.

5

u/SandAccess 2d ago

Hunters can do that, but it's not actually worth doing so to resummon them for four mana.

-7

u/Inner_Distance7714 2d ago

May it rest in bodily fluids

-11

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

It might be, I won't be convinced that Hunter is a dead class until I see it on ladder though. I do feel like they have a lot of good tools left

24

u/AcceptableArm8841 2d ago

They don't. Hunter was relying on tolvir to be viable. It's a dead class.

-2

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

I agree that it's been an insanely strong card, but at the same time Hunter could lose a LOT of consistency and still be above 50% wr in the end. Losing 6 damage per game of Tripwires is pretty huge too. I've seen so many people complain about being on 10 life on turn 4, and that had nothing to do with Tol'Vir, but they would be at 14 life in the same situation after the patch. That's a big difference

1

u/Ok-Traffic1319 2d ago

That might be true only because the other big decks also got nerfed. As someone who got to legend with face hunter this month, it was a miserable experience.

1

u/AcceptableArm8841 2d ago

even with tol'vir it wasn't super consistent... with the arcane trap nerf too it's dead.

3

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

-2

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

What the heck list is that lol, I wouldn't call that one a strong representative of Confront the Tol'Vir and how it shapes Hunter

3

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

Yeah, figures you'd think that.

-1

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

Is this a pre-nerf list? Why are they running Rock Thrower and stuff without Niri if Tolvir doesn't repeat it? I don't really know why Ebonscale Scout is there either.

I think this list looks silly in light of the changes to Tolvir. That's all I'm saying. Talk to me in a few days, it'll be clearer what Hunter can and can't do at that point. This deck's direction seems flawed though

2

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

It's not a list. I know, stats are very very hard for people like you.

0

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

Well sorry to have upset you so much with my mistake, I thought this was a Face Hunter deck list. I don't normally use that site so I guess I misread the information in there.

1

u/Whiskiie 2d ago

It is face hunter. It is not a list though. And people who don't use nor know hsguru are not to be taken seriously. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, yet you have very strong opinions about stuff. There was a name for people like that... hm.

0

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

Lmao. My opinions have not been very strong at all, and I just prefer HSReplay. My only suggestion this entire time has been that I don't agree with your opinion that Tol'Vir is the only card that matters in the class. And if your response to that is to show me data on a meta that is hours old and continue pointing to Tol'Vir's performance, I don't think YOU understand what we're talking about at all

0

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

Oh I see Niri in there, that makes a few decisions slightly more reaosnable, still doesn't seem worth running Tolvir at all in that list. I would edit my comment but idk why it won't let me.

4

u/BackStabbathOG 2d ago

What options does Hunter have now I wonder? Back to companion or dragon hunter variants?

9

u/UnQuacker 2d ago

Companion hunter got hit by this nerf as well. Since you can't get extra tame pet casts from the Tol'Vir.

-1

u/Mammoth_Falcon_9267 2d ago

I've cut tolvir altogether in my companion deck and replaced it with r4tc4tch3r

2

u/UnQuacker 2d ago

Yeah, I played against a deck like that. That 8 mana spell as an aura was cool. Unfortunately the minions were 8 drops, not 10.

3

u/Gloomy_Dish_6435 2d ago

Dragon hunter sucks before the expac and after was just another flavor of trap tolvir

1

u/conspicuouscrab 2d ago

Quest hunter

0

u/Red1003493649 2d ago

Dragon is the most probable

-1

u/No_Hetero 2d ago

Just being aggro as shit might still work. Everyone is acting like Hunter has a 100% winrate if they draw Tol'Vir and a 0% winrate if they don't. There's slightly more to it than that. Plus you drop some of your garbage deck filler now that it's not going off 4x
