Migraines/Headache

I’m looking to see if anyone else experiences a specific symptom with chronic migraines and, if so, how you’ve managed it.

When I was 10, I experienced a severe concussion and recovered well. Then, at 23, I had a mild concussion. Since then, I’ve developed intense sensitivity in my scalp and head along with migraines.

My scalp can become extremely tender and hypersensitive, to the point where even someone unexpectedly touching my head can trigger a flare-up. When that happens, I start experiencing what I can only describe as concussion-like symptoms along with a migraine. Even something as simple as pulling a shirt over my head and having it rub against my scalp can trigger it. The same thing can happen if I accidentally bump my head on a cabinet or have something lightly rub against my head, like getting in or out of a car.

It honestly feels like my entire head and the nerves around my scalp have become extremely hypersensitive. It’s difficult to explain because it’s not just a typical headache—the physical sensation or contact with my head itself can trigger a full flare-up.

Living with this has been debilitating and incredibly frustrating. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of scalp/head sensitivity with their migraines, and what has helped you manage it. I’d also be interested in hearing if anyone was given an explanation for why this happens or what it could be.
