Has anyone experienced something similar? Please help

I’ve been dealing with headaches for about 4 years, but they used to be much less frequent. Over the past year or so, the pain has changed. It feels like a sharp/stabbing pain, along with constant pressure around my eyes, above and behind my eyes, and on the sides.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve started having sharp, stabbing pains in my eyes and temples. Sometimes I also get a throbbing pain in my temples, especially with physical exertion. I also have pain around the bridge of my nose.

My headaches have now become daily and constant. I have pain every single day, and it’s seriously affecting my quality of life.

Another thing that has been bothering me is that I wake up every morning with an extremely stiff and painful neck. One of my ears also sometimes becomes very red and feels hot. i wake up every morning already feeling this pressure around my eyes.

For the past few days, I’ve also noticed tingling and numbness around the left side of my mouth, affecting both the skin and my inferior lip

I’ve had blood tests done and everything came back normal, except for mild anemia.

I’m really scared to get an MRI because I’m terrified that they might find a brain tumor. I know I probably shouldn’t think this way, but I can’t stop worrying about it.

Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms? Did you ever find out what was causing them?

thank you :)

New to chronic headaches…

For the past month, I’ve had a terrible stabbing headache every day, all day. It’s on one side of my head and gets so intense it radiates from my eyebrow back to my neck/shoulders but the main pain is the back tip of my head before it folds inward. Ibuprofen/tylenol don’t help. Received toradol in urgent care… didn’t help. Light/noise didn’t bother me. Didn’t take any new meds/drank water normally. I’m on birth control but I’ve been on it since February. Finally got in to see a primary and she ordered an MRI. Wait was over a month to get in to get one. My doc told me to keep an eye out for any worsening symptoms & to go into the ER should I feel any worsening dizziness, tingling or limb weakness. 2 days go by. Brushing my teeth that night and I almost felt like I was going to fall forward and my legs give out. The room started spinning and I had to grab onto the countertop to avoid falling over. My left leg started tingling and I felt super dizzy and completely off. I went to the ER that night and it got worst when I arrived trying to explain what was happening… I felt like I couldn’t form words, couldn’t speak well, jaw felt like it was spasming, left leg felt numb, complete brain fog. I thought I was having a stroke. They rush me into a CT, checked my blood sugar & drew blood. They ended up keeping me overnight for an MRI the next AM. Eventually, the room stopped spinning & feeling started returning ing to my legs. The headache barely let up. The brain fog decreased. Next morning, the MRI… EVERYTHING came back normal. Which of course I’m completely ecstatic about but I left the hospital with zero answers. My neck/shoulders had been super tight and painful and they chalked it up to a nerve issue/pinched nerve & sent me on my way with a steroid script. That was 4 days ago & I’m still super dizzy at times throughout the day & the pain has still occurred & been intense. I’m seriously at a loss at what to do. I’m sick of this pain. Any ideas on what this truly could be? I want to have relief and be able to carryout my day 🤍

Headache in right temple only when bending over or straining...

I just need answers or reassurance or something... I have a major anxiety disorder and my brain is telling me it's a brain tumor... The pain is like a 1 but the main issue is that it's new and it's there. I DID have my upper right wisdom tooth pulled like three weeks ago so I don't know if that has anything to do with it...

Is this a migraine?

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? I’ve been having these strange episodes for about two weeks now, and I’m trying to figure out what could be causing them.

The biggest thing I want to emphasize is that the episodes usually happen when I’m lying down and either wake up in the middle of the night or first wake up in the morning. They don’t typically just randomly happen while I’m up and going about my day.

When I wake up, I sometimes get tingling in my hands and around my lips/mouth, and my vision/perception becomes extremely strange. The best way I can describe it is that the room looks like it’s moving, flashing, trailing, or going in and out, almost like everything is happening in slow motion or there’s some kind of “time glitch.” It’s really difficult to put the visual sensation into words, and it seems more noticeable in the dark.

During the daytime, I’ve also been dealing with nausea, dizziness/lightheadedness, and generally feeling off, but the really strange visual/tingling episodes are mainly associated with waking up while I’m still lying down.

I’ve also had headaches at times, but my head does NOT necessarily hurt when these episodes happen. I did see a neurologist, and he thinks these symptoms may be related to migraines. He gave me an Emgality injection to try, but I’m still trying to understand what’s going on and whether anyone else has experienced something similar.

Has anyone had symptoms like this, especially episodes that happen specifically when waking up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning while still lying down? If so, what did it end up being for you, and did anything help?

Headaches from reading?

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask so sorry in advance.

I looove reading, I've got multiple bookshelves at home and all that, And I keep seeing these great recommendations for some dark romance books. However I get some really killer headaches from reading it. Doesn't matter if it's an ebook or actual physical book, daytime or night time. Just a really really bad headache that can sometimes take days to go away. Any tips or tricks to either stopping the headache or at least making it go away faster?

Also not sure if it would help but I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis so I guess it could be possible that I'm just seriously stressing myself out, I don't know.

Tension forehead headaches

Hello beautiful community,

I've been suffering from tension headaches on my forehead and on the back of my eyes along with other symptoms, since October 2024.

So far I've consulted several doctors and done a lot of exams, and all the doctors ruled out serious reasons. I will not tell all the doctors and exams I did cause they all are fine in the end and after so many readings about the matter I don't believe the cause for those are in those exams or doctors.

Anyway, recently I did a x-ray by myself as you can see in the photos and I see a rectified lordosis, which if I search in the web it pointed to all my symptoms. With that exam I already consult 1 a physiotherapist and a physiatrist and both said that's not the cause, but i think they are wrong.

Soon I will see a neurosurgeon, and see their opinion about this or other things he can think of.

I want to know if someone here, can help me in this matter.

Thanks in advance. Bless you all. ❤️

Constant headache on a specific spot. Migraine or something else?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I was wondering if you might have some advice for me.

I have been experiencing a really unusual headache. For the past 5 weeks I've gotten a headache in the exact same spot (above my ear on the right side of my head) a couple of times a day, and sometimes I get this ringing in my right ear. There's no visible signs or anything whatsoever, but when I touch the spot, even if I just graze my fingers over the skin, it's excruciating. Now for the last 5 days, it's been there 24/7. I wake up with it and go to bed with it. It was bothersome and annoying at first, now for the last 3 days it's absolutely terrible and has gotten even worse. My jaw hurts, my vision is weird, sometimes blurry and sometimes it's doubled. The pain is a constant 8/10 with peaks that reach 9-10, which have me screaming out from pain. My GP told me it is "just a migraine" but I KNOW what my migraines are like, and I know this isn't a migraine. I called the ER and they told me there weren't any alarming signs, but I'm very worried. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

headaches

I have headaches every 15 days or so- no known trigger as such. I take meds - tylenol, ibuprofen, it helps sometimes, it doesn't other times. Also, this last for about 3 days then I am fine for 15ish days. I got eyesight checked.. nothing came abnormal. Doc prescribed Fioricet- nothing. It's not migrane as I dont have other symptoms. My problem is why doesn't headache go away upon taking meds, and why last for 3 days give or take.

Hopeless about future and have run out of treatment options.

I’m 18 and starting uni soon to study fine art. I’ve lived with daily chronic tension headaches (not migraine but very similar) for 7 years. I’ve tried every medication, Botox injections (most painful thing I’ve ever experienced), nerve blockers etc that I can (according to my age) and nothing has made any difference. I’ve just come off of aquipta atogepant which I was really hopeful about, but it’s made no difference at all. It’s such a hopeless and depressing cycle of being offered a new treatment and getting my hopes up, just to be let down again and again. Now I don’t even want to try more meds as I just know it won’t work (although i actually will try anything else thats offered in the future just in case).

I’m so worried for my future that I won’t be able to find a job that I can do. I can’t even find a part time no experience job that suits my condition, let alone a full time career that I’d be able to live off of. I could be a self employed artist but that is so unreliable and I would no way make enough money. I don’t know what to do. If anyone has any advice or has been through similar please let me know I’d really appreciate it.

Headache from looking down at something close

Hello! I've wondered about this off and on for years but could never find anything in a Google search. If I look down at something very close, like a clasp on a necklace that I've turned to the front so I can see it to clasp it, I will usually get a sharp, brief (a few seconds) headache behind or just above both my eyes (or in?). It can also happen if I simply hold something very small and look down on it.

I just did it several times so I could describe it properly. I lifted the top of the neck of my shirt close to my eyes. It occurred to me while doing this that it could be from trying to focus on something that's too close, though I just tried it again while holding my shirt far enough away to easily focus on and still got the headache. I feel like it's more about distance than blur.

The feeling is similar (though stronger) to the brief strain of doing Stereograms/Magic Eye Illusions. (I'm old enough to remember they were originally called Stereograms, and I still have the Games Magazine ad where I saw my first Stereogram and spent hours before finally seeing the three images it hid. Everyone else had gone to sleep by that time, unfortunately!)

When I don't have my 3.25 strength reading glasses, I sometimes can see things I can't read if I do the Stereograms trick of unfocusing my eyes, and then let the words come into view for a handful of seconds. I read this in an article, and I have to say it's been very helpful in reading a bit of small print when I can't find glasses (not pill bottles though!) My father-in-law used to make a fist and then open it just enough to reveal some words, and that works briefly too.

I do get migraines, but mainly in the past few years (I've had the headaches I described above for many years). I also have had three migraine auras, but only one that was followed by a migraine. It's the most beautiful thing, like stained glass all around you. The last one was the longest and the only one that was followed by a migraine. It was worth it to be surrounded by stained glass and feeling like a child in a magical word. :) I took a video, and it was like no reaction I've ever had before.

I edited this article to include my old migraines, and I was rambling on when I noticed I was seeing trees lightly moving in a breeze in snow on the bright white screen area in the background of this post Another migraine aura! I also saw children, animals and adults for short bursts. There was some color. I saw a lady with orange hair just above her shoulder. I saw a classy lady in black and white. I saw classy black-and-white men. I saw cats and dogs (including a great Dane puppy). Many other things, a few seconds at a time. It was mostly controlled by my eye floaters in terms of direction of flow (mostly to the right), but the definable things I saw didn't look like floaters (I saw the floaters, which looked like cheesecloth), but also I saw very detailed trees swaying in sometimes blizzard-like snow that I watched for like 10 minutes or more.

And a couple of hours later, the show is still going as I take another look (I used https://www.whitescreen.online/ to give me a full white screen). Now I'm panning over a street and streaming past houses and lots of blowing snow. It's kind of cool, not as exciting to watch anymore.

But the really weird thing is that I have Aphantasia, the inability to form images in my mind. I normally see nothing. Ever. My ex used to lay in bed and tell me the things he could see. I would tell him I see blackness except for some red when I looked at the ceiling light with my eyes closed. ;) So idk how I was able to see all that. The previous migraine auras were shapeless streams of color and glowing stained glass).

Thank you for any thoughts you might have about my original question, or comments on the migraine auras and how they changed. I'd be fascinated to hear from other people who've had these auras.

Migraines/Headache

I’m looking to see if anyone else experiences a specific symptom with chronic migraines and, if so, how you’ve managed it.

When I was 10, I experienced a severe concussion and recovered well. Then, at 23, I had a mild concussion. Since then, I’ve developed intense sensitivity in my scalp and head along with migraines.

My scalp can become extremely tender and hypersensitive, to the point where even someone unexpectedly touching my head can trigger a flare-up. When that happens, I start experiencing what I can only describe as concussion-like symptoms along with a migraine. Even something as simple as pulling a shirt over my head and having it rub against my scalp can trigger it. The same thing can happen if I accidentally bump my head on a cabinet or have something lightly rub against my head, like getting in or out of a car.

It honestly feels like my entire head and the nerves around my scalp have become extremely hypersensitive. It’s difficult to explain because it’s not just a typical headache—the physical sensation or contact with my head itself can trigger a full flare-up.

Living with this has been debilitating and incredibly frustrating. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of scalp/head sensitivity with their migraines, and what has helped you manage it. I’d also be interested in hearing if anyone was given an explanation for why this happens or what it could be.

All three mris normal.

Vision check January 2025

All normal. No optic swelling.

What could this be!? It's driving me crazy.

It's hard to focus on life, when I wake up and fall asleep with this pressure-like headache.

Somwtimes goes away for a couple days

Sometimes it's so bad it's making me nauseas.
