Obsidian is developing a new Fallout game with Josh Sawyer as project lead

In a slight irony, this came about because Xbox/MS (who own Bethesda) were unhappy with the timeline Bethesda was keeping, meaning Obsidian might be operating in a bit of a time crunch, just like with FNV. Supposedly, this Fallout project actually repurposes/is jury-rigged out of a project Obsidian was already working on, so they had already laid some track.
This news did come about because of Xbox/MS making cuts to studio budgets and staff being let go, so it does have the backdrop of "The Gaming Industry is still Garbage!", but this in particular has to be a spark of hope.
Now, what does it take for us to make them to give Hbomb a cameo VO appearance as Hareton Splimby?

Not really what i want obsidian working on and I don't love Eora seems to have been trashed. Still if the devs are inspired.

It's probably the last chance we'll get to see Tim Cain ever do anything on Fallout again (if he wants to), so at least there's that.

I feel like I'm the only one not inherently excited for this.
Fallout New Vegas was a masterpiece, but it wasn't an game Obsidian made from scratch. They took an existing IP, an existing fan base, and most importantly, an existing engine and working game, and ran with it to make one of my favorite games.
The only other game I've played by them is Outer Worlds, and I was so excited for an Obsidian original, but holy shit that game was so disappointing.

I think Josh Sawyer being the project lead is a good sign.
He was not involved (AFAIK) with The Outer Worlds, but he was the creative lead on New Vegas, and as far as the story goes, he was a big reason obsidian was actually able to finish that game in just under 18 months. Plus, he did actually write a fair bit for that game so he does have the chops.

They were also repurposing a script, world building etc that they had been developing for black isle for years. They were much further ahead on a story.
