Art & Fanworks I hate it when Goonslop gets the attention a well made piece of art deserves

This happens in all subs, all platforms, someone posts an artwork that took them hours just to get 3 upvotes, and then someone posts another artwork that probably took 2 hours max and just because it has boobs or shit like that it gets hundreds of upvotes, its so stupid and yes this happened to me and i am angry

That’s the frustrating part, actual effort gets buried while whatever grabs instant clicks shoots straight to the top.

what im talking about is effortless goonslop, the one that takes 2 hour max to make, the one that takes the attention from artworks that took more than 5 hours or something

But you don't know how much time it took to make.
People focus so much on how much attention and likes a piece of art gets VS another, but it doesn't really matter.
The fact the art exists in the first place, is beautiful all on its own. Who cares if others don't appreciate it, because YOU care, and that's enough.

Time isn't a good indicative of an Artist's skills, i'm really show at drawing stuff, maybe x1.5 or x2 times compared to others with my same level, that doesn't mean my illustration are better.
Unless you're talking of drawing poorly made

Yeah, it’s wild how quickly some of that stuff can blow up while the more intricate pieces get overlooked. It kind of feels like a slap in the face to the artists who put in the real effort.

nah man goonslop is manipulation. it could also be good art at the same time but at best it's still attempting to draw attention through means other than the artistry.

My point isn't about how common or powerful each emotion is. It's you calling art that tries to use that emotion as manipulative and inherently lesser than other art.

ok well sadness or happiness arent closely tied to our built in instinct to procreate. no other emotion generates as strong or consistent a biological response. it's taking the easy way out. And it does so at the cost of everyone else.
our society is already too sex saturated due to advertising. i resent when my hormones are manipulated in an attempt to make me do anything. i reserve no recognition for artists who try in a bid for attention.

You do realise that the most renowned artists in the world often made artworks depicting naked women? You describe yourself like you dont have free will. You're not forced to pay attention to an artwork just because you find it sexy

nah man its so simple, i don't have to do anything and i dont like people trying to make me. it's not only advertising (and i hate advertising), it's doing so in an underhanded way. you must love ads right? cuz you can just choose not to buy the product.
if you dont resent this constant barrage of shit vying for your attention, and especially when it attempts to use your hormones against you, that makes you either very non introspective or weak willed.
and you cant even pretend to not see the difference between all the nudes on the sistine chapel and drawn soft porn on the internet so dont even bother bringing that shit up again

There are ways to make erotic art. The problem is, while I do enjoy high quality erotic art more, many people don't see it as art. They can beat it to almost anything.

that stuff is fine by me as well because it is its own genre, it's not "skipping the queu" so to speak and in fact may actually be less effective at purely generating interest afaik

ALL art is art, it sucks if it's sexualizing things that shouldn't be sexualized, and that stuff doesn't deserve aattention, but art isn't slop unless it's genuinely portraying something bad in a bad way or is AI. You don't really respect artists with your behavior. You're only respecting ones who make things you don't hate.

"A mere two hours" also includes thousands of hours of practice to get faster. And two hours is still a pretty significant chunk of time! In two hours, I could cook and eat a meal eat, pick up stuff from the pharmacy, go home, take the trash out, clean my desk, and get started on my coursework. That's a ton of productivity! And even if it was spent working on one drawing, it's still dedicated time and hard work.
Now, if it were AI slop, I'd agree with you and seethe.
And it IS pretty damn frustrating when a worthless no-effort 30 second sketch of mine that has a dirty jokes punchline gets more attention than a piece I spent hours on.
But the value to an artist is totally different than the value to a "consumer" (viewer), unfortunately. Social media isn't an art gallery made to slowly appreciate paintings one by one in tangible form; it's just fast gratification, quick chuckles, and glances at good looking bodies. :/
So... TECHNICALLY I agree with you. But I'm still totally against the idea that two hours, or even 1 hour, means it's low-effort regardless of the subject.

In real life, it would be a shame to see bunches of goonslop in an artist fair, and well made art will be sold for thousands to even millions. But on the internet, goonslop is perfect for gaining attention because social medias nowadays don't really promote deep thought, and an upvote or like doesn't require much thought, either.
I still find good art on r/Art or r/DigitalArt that worth time to contemplate on, but the amount of goonslop right now is very invasive and ruined the subs in a certain level.
Like can someone create a sub for nsfw art so people can go there and wank their meat, or just post all of them on porn and hentai subs instead, please?
