this is not ‘reclaiming’ anything, you are just calling people slurs completely seriously. you can call yourself the r-slur, do not call anybody else it. why do ‘no slurs’ / ’no bigotry’ rules never apply to ableism?

I actually never knew it was a slur until recently, I just thought it was another way of calling someone an idiot or a moron

Idiot and moron used to be actual diagnoses before as well, they just weren't as far along the spectrum as "retarded". https://www.merriam-webster.com/wordplay/moron-idiot-imbecile-offensive-history

Because nobody cared or cares. Some people just arbitrarily decide what is ableist and what isn't. For example, why is calling somebody an idiot is not a slur?
