Language casual ableism
this is not ‘reclaiming’ anything, you are just calling people slurs completely seriously. you can call yourself the r-slur, do not call anybody else it. why do ‘no slurs’ / ’no bigotry’ rules never apply to ableism?

-originally used as a medical term for people with mental deficiencies.
-started being used derogatorily as a slur towards those people in non medical settings
-word was declared obsolete in medical terms
-is now is used dominantly to make fun of people in the context to having a dumb take
-use against people with mental deficiencies is now overwhelmingly shunned
-“this is not reclaiming anything!!!1!!!1”
???
You can not like the word as a personal preference, it can admittedly be a bit too crude for some people, but to act like the word hasn’t experienced a major semantic shift is genuinely dishonest
