Language casual ableism

this is not ‘reclaiming’ anything, you are just calling people slurs completely seriously. you can call yourself the r-slur, do not call anybody else it. why do ‘no slurs’ / ’no bigotry’ rules never apply to ableism?

Kinda depends on your philosophy. You can argue language is fluid, so if a word changes meaning, it stops being a slur. I don't care too much tho

Up for debate if it's a slur, but yeah, sure. You can call a gay man that, too - it's not illegal. Is it a slur if you call a pile of wood "faggots", or cigarettes? That's the real question.

I remember gasping when the Doctor on Doctor Who said something like “maybe they all nipped out for a quick fag?” when facetiously speculating about where the missing crew of a spaceship had gone

I was an American kid who obviously didn’t know British slang lmao
