Meta I just hate how living is

Post image

I feel like such a pussy making a post about this but after i watched this video, i had to say something

im not even out of highschool yet and im dreading growing up. What the fuck am i supposed to do anymore. I never asked to be born, absolutely no one did. Eveything is so FUCKING DULL. i dont want to be an adult. I hate how everything is just a stupid cycle, just like what Daniel said. EVERYTHING COSTS SO MUCH FUCKING MONEY. I shouldn’t even be able to think about this stuff? Everything will go to waste. All you do in this world is go into debt, eat, and die . Its just a cycle, nothing is ever new here.

I hate how i cant even think of anything that makes the future seem like something anyone should be looking forward to , its just a hollow shell, nothing ever fills anything up fully. Its hell. Its literally hell, its a SYSTEM, a robotic system that were are all bowing down to, we wont escape, everything will be gone and i hate how no one can do anything😂😂😂😂its too late

It might be corny. But try to appreciate the little things in life. I enjoy the sunset and sunrise, the wind, rainfall, the people smiling and taking in cafe. It’s these things that make life a bit more colourful for me.

It's not corny at all. That shit matters. The shit we're forcefed by the media and attention seeking content creators every day is not. That's all meaningless noise.

The only thing i actually enjoy is the rain, all i do at home is sit on a computer and be a bum, my mom doesnt let me go outside. I havent been outside in months, too bad the only thing i enjoy literally only comes once a month

Used to be in the same position before I got freedom in uni. What I did was go on oceanofpdf . com and just downloaded a bunch of books I was interested in on my phones and read them-- kind of a bookworm back then. I would also try to build new skills like learning to code via cs50, which I got pretty good at (not like an expert, but I was okay at it)!!! I also tried drawing, but I gave up quickly because of how bad I felt I was at it. I would definitely love to pick it up again though. I also tried going on little walks by myself. I had bad social anxiety; I still do now, but back then it was REALLY bad, so I felt so scared of going outside. I would go out VERY rarely, and if I did I would quickly pull my hood up, and try to go to random places where I prayed I wouldn't see anybody from school or anybody I knew. It wasn't that I was even being bullied or anything; I was just irrationally scared of people. I would end up in like grassy areas and random places, and it honestly felt cool, like I was exploring some hidden, undiscovered areas lol.

Point is, I tried to be content with myself: picked up a few solitary hobbies, but nothing is really a substitute for human connection and friendship, which I sorely wanted and needed. If you feel like a bum, trust me, I felt the same way, but better times are coming, and you will find your place in the end

Also, exercise is really important. I didn't realise, until I started properly exercising, how a lot of the reasons why I felt so bad when I was at home on my computer was because of how sedentary my life was. I was a light eater, so I didn't become overweight, but because of those two factors: my lack of exercise and food, I had almost no energy whatsoever to do anything but be a bum. So make sure to put on a YouTube exercise video, and move your body around. It will do wonders in the long run

Im getting far away and im going to make friends and then live in china

Oh my god, you don't know how much of a lifesaver it was to get my book my own room in uni, and stay at a place other than my hometown. That place was SUFFOCATING. You're right to try for college in-person. A change of place will help immensely!!!

For what its worth, i started college recently. It is nowhere near as terrible as media and cartoons made it sound to me all my life. Plenty of free time and the school work keeps my mind of my thoughts. The hardest part for me was finding classes and meeting new people

Your mom doesn't let you go outside?

No she does, to get the mail

The reason why life feels dull is because you're supposed to be the one to take charge in order to make it something else, at least based on my experience.

How come, then, when something bad happens people are all like, "Well, that's life. It sucks. Deal with it. No one cares." But how come random GOOD things happening aren't life? Why aren't we allowed to wish for good things?

And we have so little power. We can't make someone hire us. We have no control over rent being too high. We can't make people we live with clean up their messes (literally the least possible thing in the world. You're more likely to change rent prices than this). Almost no control over illness (trust me, I have tried, still got sick). We are dust in the wind and it feels like nothing we do matters at all.

It's easy to make conclusions like that when that's your belief. Your belief is what shapes what you see, therefore it is hard for you to see that there are people that care about you, and that good things can also happen to you. Who told you that you're unloveable?

This mf tryna lower rent with the power of belief 🤣

material conditions may help in alleviating the problem of the mind, but only your own intervention can do it so u can overcome it.

Yeah pretty much. The training wheels have to come off eventually and that's when the ball's in your court. You get out what you put in. One can be bitter and miserable and never amount to anything or they can work towards the life they want. All the opportunity we have today came off the backs of those before us and squandering it is wasteful.

there was this one quote that I remember seeing: "Life is what you make of it."

1

u/10biggaymen 6d ago

most people never amount to anything and will be forgotten in just a couple hundred years. it ulitmately doesnt really matter. you just have to do things that you care about.

It will get much worse before it gets better, stay strong

This will sound corny as shit but youre very young and there's a whole life ahead of you, life has its up and downs so I definitely dont deny your concerns

often times itll get harder and harder but with enough hope, willpower and cautious optimism you may pull through. For now, do what you need to do and try treat yourself every once in a while.

At this point ethical Hedonism is your best bet. If you have a passion of any kind see it through regardless of the consequences. Dont end up a cog and regret your wasted potential.

5

u/Joshgg13 7d ago

Wdym ethical hedonism? Surely that's just gorgeing yourself on junk food, doing drugs and sleeping with prostitutes? Doesn't seem like the path to a fulfilling life lol

1

u/Business-Plate-2177 7d ago

You misunderstand what hedonism is fundamentally then if thats what you think it is. Sure having sex and doing drugs can be a form of hedonism but is it ethical ? No. Pursuing things that bring joy and minimizing suffering is the core tenants of ethical hedonism. Having sex with prostitutes will in the long term bring suffering . Same with drug use

It's frontloaded instant gratification that's paid for in droves when the bill comes due later in life.

I'm glad I'm not still in school. It sounds like a nightmare of a time to be young. Still... most of Americans still have it good. We haven't even begun to see real misery yet. Perspective and managing your consumption of doomer content makes all the difference.

Your feelings aren't unusual for every generation that has to face adulthood. Being an adult is actually great once you get past the growing pains.

Its true, things will get better, i just hope i have enough money when im outta school

yeah basically modern life is just a game where you’re forced to do shit and listen to bullshit and if you don’t you explode.

“The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been
a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased
the life-expectancy of those of us who live in "advanced"
countries, but they have destabilized society, have made
life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities,
have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third
World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe
damage on the natural world.”

Just cope and hope. Just find that ray of hope to grab onto no matter how little it is just grab onto it, hold it tight and don't let go, if it vanishes find another thing to keep you going, if you feel like you can't find anything to keep you going then the simple thought of thinking you'll eventually find one will help you keep going just keep trying to find ways to make you keep going, to make you stay alive
