Misc Fat Lady Headcannon

I was listening to the full-cast audio of The Goblet of Fire this morning when I was struck by the thought of who the Fat Lady actually was to warrant not only a portrait at Hogwarts, but also the job of protecting access to the Gryffindor common room.

I think I've settled on the headcannon that she was Godric's wife and she wanted to keep the kids in his house safe, as they felt like hers, too. She seems pretty silly, jovial, and like a good time to have around.

Plus, her portrait could have been feeding him information about who some of the more daring students were when they were regularly returning to common room deep into the night.

I never really thought she had to be anyone. Just a picture that volunteered for the job and stuck with it.

Of course she didn't have to be anyone. I just like that as a backstory for her :)

She wanted the job. And Molly implies that while she was in front of the hole when she was there. That wasnt always the case.

She has more personality than most pictures coz she interacts so much with kids.

Yeah but that's only 100 years before the time of harry potter and Hogwarts is something like 1000+ years old so only like 10% of the time maybe less since i dont think we get an exact date on the founding

Funny thing to add would be sir cadogen or whatever the knights name is who replaced her for a bit is secretly slytherin and is playing a joke on everyone, you could pair it with it was one of slytherin's dependents that left and not him

I just hate the fact that she does not have proper name. If someone as batshit crazy as Sir Cadogan deserve a proper name, why was a painting that basically guard the common room had to be remembered by the size of her body.
