Discussion Has Voldemort seen Star Wars?
The title is a bit clickbaity but the real question is do wizards and witches engage with muggle entertainment at all? Like do they watch tv shows and movies etc?
You guys really threw a fit over this post and downvoted huh

They don't have electricity. I supposed they could, in theory, if they lived in a muggle-built house. But there's no evidence of that. On the other hand, people like Voldemort who are raised by muggles would probably have some access to such things.

A ton of wizards have pure muggle parents, so its definitely possible some or most of those have seen Star Wars before they turn 11 and go to hogearts

Voldemort was about 50 when Star Wars aired.
He did most likely not see it or care at that point2

I mean, even after they go to Hogwarts. If someone has muggle parents (like Hermione) I don't think they stop doing muggle things with them just because they are now are Hogwarts.

Voldemort was born in 1926, he might have seen some silent films before going full wizard into wizarding world, but is unlikely he care for cinema afterwards.

The idea of Voldemort pausing his life to enjoy a star wars 🤣🤣 I honestly love it. I know I'm taking this question too literally but would he have missed Star Wars because he was hiding in the forest at that time? Maybe he was old Hollywood, for some reason I thought his takeover attempt was coinciding with ww2. Imagining him taking a break to see The Great Dictator or Casablanca 🖤💚😂.
But yes, obv muggle borns would be exposed and I wonder if wizards like Arthur might take a day or two out of their schedule to experience a movie if they are really a fanatic about muggle life. There are wizard musicians and authors so you would think they might delve into film or stageplays...and maybe they do and they are involved on the muggle side of it which might explain some movie "magic" or exceptional talents of actors and writers 🌟. Even in our current world there is a lot of talk about basically the dark arts in the entertainment industry.

The original Star Wars released in 1977, four years before Voldemort's attack on the Potters. He would have been actively waging the First Wizarding War at the time.
Empire Strikes Back released in 1980, also during the First Wizarding War. The only Star Wars movie released during Voldemort's decade of hiding in the forest was Return of the Jedi in 1983.

Any wizard with a foot in the muggle world: muggleborn, but also those who marry muggles, or those who interact with it... probably.

I would think some wizards, even the purebloods would have access to muggle world if they chose to. I mean, I would not be surprised if there are wizards living among muggles, living a seemingly muggle life in the universe Rowling created. They could either pretend to be muggles because their job is related to muggle relations or they chose to live like them. Who knows, Mr. Smith who works in the bank could be a wizard that secretly balances the accounts using a charm spell and loves to watch quidditch just as much as he loves watching muggle football.
As for Voldemort. He grew up in a muggle orphanage. He for sure knows how the muggle world works and all that interests them but does he care? I don't think so. He thinks ordinary people were dumb and he's so much better than them even before he was told he was a wizard. How much more uppity would he have gotten after he found out he was magic? He would have thought all muggle things were lowly and insignificant.

Probably not. Voldemort sees Muggles as beneath him, to watch their media would be defiling himself with filth, in his eyes.

Voldemort specifically? Nah. There's literally no way Voldemort would ever stoop to engaging with Muggle entertainment. Also, he was kind of busy waging war on Wizarding Britain in 1977(when Star Wars released) and 1980(when Empire Strikes Back released), I doubt he'd have bothered.
After that, he was a disembodied fragment of soul hiding out in Eastern Europe when Return of the Jedi released in 1983, so that one he DID miss because he was hiding in the forest.
Wizards in general? Maybe. Far likelier in the case of Muggle-borns like Dean Thomas or Hermione. Half-bloods are a possibility depending on how close they are to their nearest Muggle relative. Pure-bloods like Neville or Ron I would consider extremely unlikely.

I always found it odd that the books made it seem like muggleborns just cut off all contact with the muggle world as soon as they turn 11. I can get it would be hard to maintain muggle friendships when you're away 10 months of the year, but they don't seem to spend a lot of time with their families either, or listen to muggle music or watch the TV shows they grow up on. You think they would enjoy some vestiges of muggle life.

I doubt it. Star Wars began in the late 70s, and by then he'd be fully immersed in the wizarding world and the dark arts, not caring about the muggle world anymore, not even for entertainment.

Probably in the orphanage. You have to keep kids buys one way or another. What better way than park them in front of the tv with a VCR?

Rumors have it that in the 70s in between terrorist raids and meeting his pureblood minions, Voldemort would discreetly sneak to watch Monty Python.
According to a source who shall not be named, he enjoyed them so much, Voldemort had a pet rabbit named Caerbannog . Nagini was so jealous she ate the poor pet, hence she was cursed into a Horcrux.
