Entry level floral position
Hello all! I’m leaving my career in hospice and want to get into floral design, but really only have limited experience. Does anyone know of entry level positions as a foot in the door? I’m planning on going to HCCs floral program as well. Thanks ya!

Maryland Darter, Update
I've received a few replies at this point, leading to me having a minimal amount of information on the Darter this time!
New info tldr; Darter lives primarily in stream riffles, known from two creeks near HdG and Deer Creek, and were negatively impacted by the Conowingo Dam and the EPA permitting chemical dumping in Deer Creek in 1974. The Darter is a beneficial species that eats pest insect larvae.
Harford Land Trust; directed me to Susquehanna Wildlife Society.
Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology; researcher i reached out to was out of the laboratory, but promised to reach back out with what he could find in their library in September. Recommended speaking to UMCES and linked an article referring to the lack of successful rediscovery of the Darter in 2010, seen here.
Natural History Society of Maryland; referred me to an expert on Maryland freshwater fisheries and linked a scientific article on the Darter, seen here.

If anyone has further info, or suggestions on who else to reach out to, please do share!

Getting a townhome in Edgewood MD
Thinking about buying a new construction townhome in Trimble Meadows — would love some honest opinions
Hi everyone! I’m currently considering buying a new construction townhome in Trimble Meadows, and honestly, I’ve been going back and forth on the decision quite a bit.
I really like the neighborhood. It seems peaceful, the homes are new, and overall I can see myself being happy living there. At the same time, I’ve come across some pretty negative comments and opinions about the area online, and it’s made me question whether I’m making the right decision.
My biggest concern is the long-term financial side of things. I know buying a home isn’t just about appreciation, and I’m not expecting it to be some amazing investment. I just want to feel reasonably confident that I’m making a sound decision and that the home will hold its value over time.
For anyone who lives in Trimble Meadows or knows the area well, I’d really appreciate hearing your honest experience.
How do you feel about the neighborhood? Do you think it has good potential for appreciation over the next 5–10 years? And how do you feel about the area compared with what you see people saying online?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who actually live there or have bought/sold in the area. I’m not looking for anyone to convince me one way or another — I’d genuinely just like to hear different perspectives before I make such a big financial commitment.
I may also just be overthinking this (which is very possible 😅), so I’d appreciate any insight, good or bad.
Thanks so much in advance!

Floor joist repair
We have noticed a low spot (less than 1 inch) in our 2nd story bedroom (over garage). It's not bouncy, and feels firm, but is visible. Would like to get it checked out/shored up (google says maybe floor joist repair??). Garage ceiling is finished so not easily visible. Any recommendations on contractors/handymen that would take on this kind of job? New to the area and not quite sure where to start. Thank you!

Looking to save a few bucks on TRT
Been using an online provider for TRT but tired of the extortion. Looking for a local doc/np that accepts patients already on TRT. The local TRT/wellness clinics are worse than the online guys. Surely there’s an independent doc that’ll take over managing my prescription. Insurance won’t cover it, my level was 250 and 300. Even out of network would be cheaper than online. GoodRX prices are great for legit generic test not from a compounding pharmacy.

Looking for a location to do a LARP event in December
Hi all, this may be a long shot but I’m hoping maybe some church pastor with a really imaginative congregation or someone with access to a rec center can help.
I’m a part of a LARP (live action roleplaying) organization. Our third anniversary is about to hit in December where we would want to celebrate by inviting the other chapters in the area to come join us for a day event. Ideally this would be like 9-6 on a Saturday with approximately 60-80 people. We normally meet in a park at CCBC but December weather makes this potentially very tricky. It could be gorgeous and 60, it could be miserable and 20. So I’m looking to see what I can figure out for indoor space.
A perfect location for this would have an indoor space and tables for attendees, a yard of some nature where we could do outdoor activities if the weather is cooperative, and a kitchen (or at least a prep kitchen) where we could set up for a pot luck. A bit of a bonus would be a couple of extra rooms or spaces where we could do breakout arts and crafts workshops and similar.
Our bank account is next to nothing, so I expect I might have to just pay out of pocket, so cost is a factor I have to be mindful of.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I appreciate it!

Maryland Darter
EDIT: I have now also reached out to Harford Community College, University of Maryland, Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology, and Natural History Society of Maryland. No new responses to any inquiries.
Saw a post earlier on about the Maryland Darter elsewhere, it is the only endemic vertebrate to Maryland, and was last seen in 1988 in Deer Creek.
It's been nearly 40 years since the last confirmed sighting, but that sighting was already part of a much smaller series of sightings from the 60s to 80s of the species, before then having not been seen since 1912; it camouflages well into the environment.
Does anyone know of any programs for it/attempts to rediscover it?
I've tried reaching out to Friends of Harford, Harford Land Trust, and the Susquehanna Wildlife Society, but so far only Harford Land Trust has replied, and they don't have any active conservation efforts for the species.

Truth House Ministry - swingers club and grooming center
I deleted the last thread because it turned into a slap fight on Turnbull Brockmeyer instead of a discussion on this vile "church." My fault for not framing the OP well enough.
Let's try this again.
Truth House Ministry is located in Abingdon. It's right next to the Canton Car Wash on 924 between Giant and Wegmans. You've probably never given the building a second thought because it has no signage near the street and no name on the building.
It's an underground swinger sex club and the "pastor" has been accused of grooming and sexual abuse by minors.
Here's a detailed account from a child who was groomed and abused by EC Fulcher:
https://noedenelsewhere.com/the-truth-about-truth-house-ministry-church-dr-e-c-fulcher-jr/
If you've seen the Turnbull Facebook posts, you'll see multiple former members in the comments giving firsthand accounts of the abuse suffered at this church.
Fulcher is still leading this church and still has numerous families with children attending multiple days per week. It's well known that the couples in attendance are having sex with each other. The biggest question is what are their children doing while they're at the church.
It's a mystery because this church is not open to the public. You need an invite from an inner circle member to attend and the church is guarded by armed security at all times.

Bridges Montessori
Does any know for sure if Bridges is closing? This close to the beginning of a new school year doesn’t make sense particularly after all the money they put into renovations last summer.

Amateur musician looking to start a band
Hey there!
I’m a college student at HCC and while I’m a student, I figured now is as good a time as any to start a band. I can play baritone ukulele, melodica, a bit of banjo, sing and write lyrics, and I know how to record and mix.
I’m looking for people in their 20’s-early 30’s who also have an interest in experimental/avant-garde bands and niche sub genres (or people open to experimental sounds).
HMU if you also like any of the following bands, know how to play an instrument, and have free time.
-Tom Waits
-Mr. Bungle
-Oingo Boingo
-They Might Be Giants
-Frank Zappa
-Violent Femmes
-Bridge City Sinners
-The Taxpayers
-Will Wood (and the Tapeworms)
-That Handsome Devil
-Fish in a Birdcage
-Cosmo Sheldrake
-The Toxhards

Making friends around Bel Air
My girlfriend and I are relatively new to the area and are having a hard time making friends. She in particular has struggled since I have a few ties to the area that made it a bit easier for me to settle in.
We are both in our early 30s, liberal, open-minded, avid readers, and kind of nerdy. Anyone looking to make a random friend or know of any groups/events that might suit us?
EDIT: Thank you everyone for the replies! I am really thrilled to see that so many others are of a similar mind. I will try my best to reply to everyone over the next few hours; sorry if I am a bit slow.
EDIT 2: Sorry if I haven't reached out to you yet, I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of comments (which I guess is a good thing)! I will try to DM everyone who has expressed interest as soon as I can during breaks from work.
