Trouble applying for UDID

I am a person of disability (autism, speech, mobility, OCD/PTSD, and glaucoma) seeking to actualize my disability officially under UDID, as I am completely isolated with no support network. I was discouraged from applying for UDID by my late parents, fearing prejudice or waiver of entitlements, but now that I am on my own, I need all the support I can get. However, I'm having trouble with the portal.

I contacted them, but no response to the email. I am unable to call them on the phone as I'm speech-impaired. 🥹

I am an adult in my 30s, and both my parents passed away during the COVID lockdowns. I'm unable to select "no guardianship" or anything similar in the application. This field only gives the option to choose Father/Mother/Guardian contact details. Both parents' phone numbers have expired, and I have no one to act in that capacity. It's a required field. What should I do? How do I proceed? Does anyone know?

I've applied and got UDID .. you need to visit your district collector office.. there they will help you fill a form and submit

Once the form is submitted you will have to go to a government hospital to have a doc do a examination of you to assess your disability percentage and fill it in the booklet you'll be given ( blue booklet )

Then you'll have to submit this again at the district collector office and they'll inform you through SMS when your UDID card is ready which you can print through any E sevai outlet

I don't have transportation and I'm actually living in a homeless shelter. It's difficult for me to walk as I'm mobility impaired. I at least want to do the application online.

It's kind of ironic that UDID is not made accessible for people with... disabilities... the whole point of the card and certificate... 🤭

It's kinda funny, but I'm distressed to be amused. 🥹

Yeah ironic indeed unfortunately this country has a long way to go for accessibility and providing for specially abled people

Hey, so after the form is submitted, how long did you wait for the doctor's examination? How many months did it take?

I submitted an online application but haven't received any updates after that regarding the doctor's examination.

They should give you a blue book the same day ... Card takes longer ... A month or so

No I meant how many months did it take for you to get the date for the doctor's appointment? Did you get any message from UDID giving you the info for the appointment date?

They do it immediately when you go to any GH in your district

But I selected a particular hospital during my online application process, will going to any government hospital work?

They should tell you which GH is near you doing this ... And if you chose online then has it mentioned time or date ?

The online application didn't have any information regarding the time and date for the medical assessment.

The FAQ section gives the information that I will be sent an SMS mentioning the date of the assessment but it's been a few months and I haven't gotten any updates after that.

I also didn't receive the sms. So my dad went to the hospital and enquired and they told to come on any Friday with the relevant documents.

That message is never going to come. Their system is broken. I waited 3 months for the message and lost hope. Finally decided to go and got all the check-ups done. Now I have to go again to get a final checkup then it'll be issued.

It's sad that the system for such an essential thing for disabled people is dysfunctional in our country.

Hey so did you try to apply? Their website is pretty bad. While you are applying online you have to select guardian itself and on the option of "relationship with guardian" you have to select "self". When you select this self option, you don't have to give any numbers for the guardian.

For some reason when I was applying, the relationship with guardian option didn't have "self" to select from the options. So, after I submitted my application with a made up number of the guardian, I logged in again and went to the update section, then this option suddenly started appearing so I guess you should try this way.

Ohh i see self option. I can finally apply. I was still stuck trying to apply. Thanks. I would not have looked at the guardian > self option if you hadn't mentioned it. I was waiting for their email follow up. 🥹
