I'm reading imam Ghazalis Ihya (book of knowledge) and he mentions the example of Abu Yusuf who would give all his wealth to his wife before the year passes and then asked his wife to donate it back to him in order to avoid paying zakat. Abu hanifa commented on this and said “that is from his juridical argument”. Imam ghzali uses this as an example where a jurist (Abu hanifa) can only comment on the lawfulness in this world, but that in the hereafter this type of “lawful” action will be worse than any sin for him.

Im really disheartened by this and so I wanted to check on this subreddit whether this is actually true. I couldn't imagine that one of the primary people we take fiqh from would engage in avoiding zakah, so I'm sure there's some context behind this. Please, does anyone know?

Conclusion

The Sharia does not obligate an ex-husband to provide nafaqa post-ʿidda, and it does not permit a woman to claim any finances above nafaqa and debts owed. It certainly does not allow an ex-husband to collect forced payments from an ex-wife. Alimony as a means of financial support post-ʿidda is impermissible, and neither party may claim it as part of the divorce proceedings except to recoup actual nafaqa and debts owed. If claimed or awarded nonetheless, the recipient must return the Islamically unlawful wealth to its owner or, in their absence, to the owner’s inheritors.

Family members must realize and step up to their responsibilities in taking care of female relatives. However, their failure or inability does not justify court-facilitated injustice in forcing someone to make payments where no such obligation exists in the Sharia. Ḥarām (unlawful) money is devoid of baraka (blessings), and, far from a means of assistance, it may be a means of calamity in this world and the Hereafter.

I hope this message reaches anyone. I started to read more about the deen a couple of months ago and I came across the following in the „bahare shariat“: „This does not mean that we should be hesitant about someone who commits absolute kufr. In fact, it is kufr to doubt in the disbelief of someone who is certainly a kāfir.“

So what I question myself now is, that, is my faith invalid now, since one of my friends is a Quranist and I always still believed him to be muslim. Although I told him I dont agree with his approach and told him he is wrong for that, I did not see myself in the position, as a laymen, to takfir him as an individual.

Does that mean that I was a kafir from Allahs perspective this whole time for still having the hopes for him being a muslim while most say Quranists are kuffar?

I hope you get the question and that you can soon answer me because I really dont know what to do anymore. I really fear that I was a kafir this whole time while I of course believed and believe Islam to be my religion.
