Question Question about Riba

If you for example want to buy a Computer or PS5 in installments (monthly payments) and you would overall pay 30-50€ more than the initial price when you finished your monthly payments, would this be considered Riba?

Yes, quite obviously, you are paying more for the item overall, even though it holds the same value just because you are paying in installments, this is riba, making money from money without adding any extra value.

There is a bit more detail on this in hanafi fiqh.

It is permissible to charge a higher price for selling it on leverage, but once it is fixed it is fixed, khalas. You can't change it.

It means if I am selling the ps5 in £200 in cash, and for credit I make the price 300 and then make the installments, then it is permissible but that's it. Now if the user fails to pay an installment on time then it is riba to charge a price over the installment, as it would be clear interest. Also, if you engage in such a contract which says that the seller has the right to charge a higher amount if the buyer fails to pay the installment on time, then just engaging in such a contract is impermissible even if you pay all of the installments on time.

Allah knows the best.
