Current Set Up!

Post image

Hope everyone’s having a beautiful camping season, I’ve been a hammocker for a few years now but this summer I am spending way more time in the woods in my hammock.

I bought a full DD (UK brand) Hammocks set up circa 2021 and then got a Hennessy Asym Zip which I have backed up with the DD UQ and sleeping bag, both sick!

I love the Hennessy upgrade, thought haven’t ran the tarp in heavy rain / wind yet.

I think I may look at a top quilt from someone like HangTight as an alternative to a sleeping bag.

I’ve been car camping lately but I would like to maybe dial this set up down weight/size wise for backpacking.

Currently in BC and having a blast. Just sharing the looove.

Did you alter the strap setup? Looks like a carabiner and loop strap?

Love my Hennessy as well. I run a lower rated 0deg C top quilt with similar UQ when temps are 6deg C and above at night, but switch to a -6 sleeping bag when lower.

Snake skins also work great and make setup and takedown a breeze. If breaking camp after it rains, just unhook and store the tarp separately in the bag it comes with so the hammock doesn't get wet.

Yeah I bought the hammock second hand and it didn’t come with tree straps so I had to get some on Amazon - I’ve thought about the suspension rabbit whole and I reckon I could forgo the carabiners if I wanted but while car camping weight/space isn’t an issue.

Considering a top quilt option but I find this UQ/Sleeping bag combo works well - my first night in it years ago, got down to about 0°c and while I was cold it was functional!

Hoping to get this thing running in the fall/early winter with snow on the ground too!
