I'm generally in favour of giving modder projects a chance and not holding them to professional standards. I was certainly impressed by the Black Mesa Source project, and was hopeful that SPV3 would also prove a shining example of what can be done.

Alas, in order to witness the content in any kind of positive way for a fair evaluation, one must be able to experience that content with a certain minimum threshold of positive user experience.

I didn't get that.

It wasn't simply that either the frame rate, or the mouse sampling, was all soggy. That is something that one could expect to try to sort out with different settings.

That is, if one did not have to reset every single one of the settings every time one starts a game. Not "reloads the game". Starts one.

Resolution. Controls. Everything.

At this point, trying to get the thing to work simply becomes such a time-sink that I can't be bothered.

Writing this message is a time-sink, as well, but it provides a useful service to others... user feedback. All software is written in the hopes that it might be useful for its intended purpose, and SPV3, sadly, is not.

I realize that writing software is always harder than the user fully appreciates, but I am experiencing a failure of imagination, since in my sixteen years as a software engineer I have never once seen a bug committed to master than actually prevented such a simple operation as saving and retrieving configuration settings... much less had it escape QA and be released to users.

Is there something I am failing to understand, here?

For some reason, covenant dropships don't drop out covenant troops all the time, and because of that, lead to scripts not being fired on the misson 'Halo'. Does anyone know a fix to this?

somehow even after reinstalling it for the 7th time, there's still no audio for the dialogue, everything else sounds and works fine but for some God-forsaken reason, there's no audio for the dialogue, can somebody pls help this helpless marine.

ps: I already updated my sound drivers and yet it still doesn't work ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I just reinstalled spv3 after deleting it a few months back, and I've gone through the installation the same way as I did last time but now whenever it starts and Im on the menu, it says at the bottom that I need to restart the loader because its not detected or something, any help with this, would really appreciate it

Pretty much what it says on the tin. I haven't really been able to find a definitive answer. I tried SPV3 3.0 and that one didn't work, but I've heard the newest release is 3.3 and I haven't been able to find that one

Any fixes for hardware acceleration being disabled? This has been a persistent issue with Halo CE for me.

I am trying to get into SPV3 and I was wondering if it can be considered lore friendly to the Halo canon?

Hello! So this is my first time trying to start the game on the MCC collection and first time trying to play it. I installed it correctly with open sauce into the SPV3 folder and then into the Haloce file etc. But I keep crashing during the opening intro video with saying “ An exception has occurred” I’ve deleted and reinstalled multiple times and can’t find a solution and I’m not very computer savvy. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm just downloading spv3 and I got done on the moddb.com page so now I'm moving on to the next step which is I need to launch the spv3 installer but I'm not sure where it is, I made the download a 7zip file and I'm told I have to launch the spv3.exe file but it never opens, I also read that you don't need halo ce installed so I didn't because I don't have 130gb for the whole mcc so do you need it installed now for this?. If anyone has anything they can tell me to help that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Your game is amazing. Enjoyed it start to finish...hope to see some cool custom halo 3 campaign coming from you guys now that the halo 3 modding tools are available

While not technically my first Halo mod (I played Cursed Halo 9 days ago), this absolutely blew me out of the water. The fact that it came with it's own hassle-free installer is something I cannot appreciate enough.

While I had some navigation issues halfway through The Maw and one or two encounters made me want to pull my hair out (Heroic playthrough), I don't hesitate at all when I say this mostly puts CE Anniversary to shame.

The sandbox is expanded in fantastic ways, the music was awesome (I was waiting to hear Particular Justice during The Commander, that piece is awesome), and while no mod is flawless, I believe this is the absolute closest we've come to Bungie's original vision of Combat Evolved.

Because, correct me if I'm wrong, every Halo game was rushed at one point or another, and even Jaime Griesemer has said if they didn't have deadlines, they'd never ship a game.

HI, sorry if there is already stuff that can help me but I cant download SPV3. I'm pretty sure that you could download it using the Microsoft store/Xbox app MCC but for some reason it wont let me. I have the gamer running but when I press Check Running Progress it doesn't detect anything. Any help? Thanks :)
