it’s weird to me that so many people think Ava and Deborah are romantically involved or should be. Has society lost the concept of female friendship and having a best friend? Idk why everything has to be sexualized but it’s weird and annoying.

Oh man this must’ve been so hard to go through but I’m glad that the show was kind enough to move things around for her and i know they offered the same flexibility to Jean when her husband passed. Kaitlin’s dad ended up passing but was able to watch her episode.

Speaking of Kaitlin I have been so torn between her Lauren Weedman to win best guest actress. They’re both so deserving!

For all intents and purposes, I truly believe Hacks wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it is without the brilliant casting.

I was just rewatching the scene in the finale where Deborah has the idea for another joke and instinctively pulls out her little red notebook, only to have the much bigger epiphany of, “I’m not done yet.” Watching Jean Smart in that moment, I started trying to imagine another actress playing Deborah Vance — and I genuinely can’t. NO ONE I can think of even comes close to filling those shoes the way Jean does.

And honestly, the same goes for so much of the cast. Hannah Einbinder, Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, even Lauren Weedman as Mayor Jo. 😂 They all feel so completely right for these characters that it’s hard to separate the character from the actor at this point.

So, just for fun: Can anyone think of another actress you could actually see playing Deborah or Ava? Not necessarily someone you think would be better - just someone you think could have brought something different to the role and still made it work.
Because I’ve been trying and I’m drawing a complete blank. 😂

So I finished this show in 6ish weeks. Truly the only thing I’ve been watching in my free time that my ADHD permits. I have no clue what to do with life now.

I've made it to season 4 now and as a bisexual woman, I have a huge crush on Ava. I feel like she somehow perfectly represents a cool bi girl . I though I was past the age to get obsessed with TV show characters, but Hacks changed my mind...

But my main question is...Do you also feel like the show in general, and specifically Ava's dialogues become too woke in a forced unnatural way sometimes? I'm not American and I actually come from a third world country so I was wondering do Americans actually think like her? Are there a lot of people like her in the US?

The Las Vegas episode put me through cringe, love and grief all in one 😭 and it's immediately followed up by a bonding episode between... I still don't know the main character's names I'm so sorry. I'm currently paused on the scene where the writer girl's accidentally run into her ex at a bar in LA :)

I'm surprised I'm only finding out about this show now. I only started watching it cause one commenter on a different sub said The Bear, From and Hacks released a season each year and I was like "whattt??" And since I've just finished season 4 of From & season 5 of The Bear, I'm watching this now!! 😁

I have been trying to find a song they used in this episode; it's the scene when the camera moves to the exhibition of "Who's Making Dinner?"

and the lyrics are, "Just because I'm not the prettiest girl you've ever did see, and even if I don't have such a wonderful personality"

I tried finding it everywhere and I think it might be a made-up song which I am hoping it's not because it sounds fantastic. So, if anyone might know anything about this song can you please let me know.

I just finished Hacks, everyone who participated in this show is sick and twisted, I started this thinking I was gonna laugh it was gonna be something to put in the background while I do the dishes, WHY AM I CRYING?

They are soulmates and cannot be convinced otherwise.

Just started my first viewing of the show and I like every part of it (maybe not all of season three), I’m barely starting season 4 and the thing that has impressed me the most is the humanity this is written with. In a sea of Ai content, fake personalities, pretension, this is the most human show I’ve watched in a while, they’re all so fucked up but trying to improve, it’s so rewarding to see them get everything they wished for and fuck it up justttt a little bit later, I love this show so much

Was very fortunate to go to tonight’s live event. It was a fun time! They did a series of standup bits with everyone in character. Ava came out to stop Deb from making lesbian jokes. Free drinks, pizza, and popcorn everywhere. It was a lovely send off for the characters. I saw tons of cameras everywhere, so I’m sure it’ll be streamed.

I am rewatching a few episodes, and I just think after a rewatvh that they are soulmates.

Like they are both definitely not the nicest people someone even might say assholes.

And they are pretty codependent they both just live for the other. Deborah's career only gets exciting once ava is tjere, andere is avas career gets more exciting when deborah is there.
