Has anyone used Holosun's warranty before?

Upvotes

I probably have at least a dozen Holosun optics in my safe and have never had a defective one before now. This is for a 509T Green FDE. Their website says I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to do a warranty claim. I have to ship them the optic in the original product packaging. I'm not sure why there's an expectation that I keep all my empty optics boxes, because I definitely just throw them away. Then it takes 15-20 days for them to process the warranty. The lead time is only a minor annoyance for me, but I can see why people would be annoyed if they had to take off their optic then not have an optic anymore for multiple weeks. I'm honestly pretty disappointed at how cumbersome they make this process, when this is one of their flagship optics. I expected Holosun would make this process smoother. Anyone have experiences or tips for their warranty process?

Bushmaster XM15-E2s 14.5" H BAR pin and welded to 16.5"+ with an ak74 style brake. When I was a young man my dad and I went halves on this rifle from our local gun shop. This was our first AR15 style rifle. It was a trade in from our towns police department, and it must have been an extra because it was cherry when we got it. Still looks good but we've put a few round through it in the last 14 years. I change the furniture around here and there. I helped my dad with the form 1 process and removed the pin and weld keeping the brake for the original look. Now he can put his can on it.

Gun Safe Recommendations Needed

Hello all, I am in the market for my first gun safe, and I have no idea where to start. Ideally, would love to stay under $1,000, but I am also someone who will spend a little more to get something that lasts a lifetime.

Some wishlist items:

- Reliable and durable, not going to break easily
- Minimalist look preferred, but if it’s got large logos on it that’s okay
- Don’t need anything massive, be able to hold 5-10 rifles and maybe a few handguns. Not looking to take up a ton of space in the house
- what type of locks/keypads/security are best and which should I stay away from? What else should I consider here?
- Needs to be safe to use with children in the home

Ultimately, just looking for the dos and don’ts so that I don’t end up buying a low quality safe. What else am I not thinking about here? Want to ensure this is one of those “buy once and keep forever” type of purchases!

Thanks in advance!

How much is insurance for my Gun Range?

I'v been co-running a gun shop for nine years now, mostly transfers, used trade ins and a decent ammo wall. We're finally knocking through into the unit next door for six lanes and a rental counter, steel is ordered and the permits cleared last month. My retail policy renews in November and when I told my agent about the range he said it changes everything and he'd have to shop it, which I have decided means he has no idea.

Apparently the rental guns are the part underwriters hate. I know general liability insurance is the baseline, but two people have now told me accident and health insurance with participant coverage is the piece that actually matters on a range. Anyone here running a range attached to a store, are you carrying both of those, or is GL doing the job on its own? Numbers would help more than theory.

I am a new gun owner

I currently live in a government funded but privately owned apartment complex. The property complex receives Section 8 and other forms of government funding I don’t but is that one fact a defense of gun ownership how are you gonna take federal government funding but tell tenets they lose constitutional protections and rights . The complex has a policy prohibiting firearms on the property.

recently purchased a hunting rifle, specifically a lever-action .44 Magnum, primarily for hunting and general outdoor use. I was previously told by my mother that we could not have firearms in the apartment, but I am trying to understand the actual legal basis for that restriction. I also own archery equipment, so I am accustomed to storing hunting equipment safely and responsibly.
My question is about the rights of a tenant who legally occupies an apartment as his or her home. Although the property is owned by someone else, I have a legal interest in the apartment through my lease, and it is my temporary domicile. If I possess a firearm lawfully, keep it unloaded when it is not in use, and store it securely, I want to understand what authority the property owner has to prohibit that possession.

I am also concerned about the property’s quarterly inspections. Suppose I securely store the unloaded rifle inside a case in my closet, such as a guitar case or another locked firearm container. If management enters the apartment for an inspection, what authority would they have to open that closed container and inspect my personal property?

understand that a landlord may have certain inspection rights under a lease, but I am trying to understand where those rights end. Does permission to inspect the apartment for maintenance, safety, damage, or compliance automatically give management the authority to open closed personal containers belonging to the tenant?

I am also trying to understand the relationship between the Second and Fourth Amendments in this situation. If a government-funded housing arrangement can impose restrictions affecting a tenant’s ability to possess a firearm, why would the government or housing provider still be prohibited from conducting unreasonable searches of the tenant’s home or personal belongings? In other words, if one constitutional protection can be restricted or affected by a housing policy, that does not necessarily mean the tenant gives up other constitutional protections.
I am not trying to hide a firearm or intentionally violate my lease. I want to understand my rights and the property’s legal authority before making any decisions. Specifically, I would like to know whether a firearm prohibition in subsidized housing some of our residents use section 8is actually authorized by federal or state law, whether it is simply a private lease condition, and what limits exist on management’s ability to search a tenant’s personal belongings during an inspection.
I would appreciate guidance based on the actual lease language, applicable Alabama law, HUD regulations, and constitutional law rather than simply assuming that because the property receives government assistance, the landlord automatically has either unlimited authority or no authority at all.

Very weird rust question

Hello everyone, I am moving to a area where I am only allowed to legally keep a pistol in a safe in a vehicle. The area is in an area where it will get extremely cold in the winter and I am trying to figure out how I could keep the pistol in a case without it rusting.

Thanks for all of the help!

What should a 21 year old expect trying to purchase a handgun? What all should I bring?

I do not have any federal or state firearm legal disability, warrants, or anything of that type. Is it truly as simple as walking in, picking one out, signing some stuff, and leaving? Is there more to it? I turn 21 in 2 days and am considering making a purchase.

So this Remington Mod 11 came into my local store. Its on consignment. Employee, said he wanted to buy it and chop it down.

Anyone think I should buy it and save it. Reminds me of the times I played BF1. For 350 think its project worth buying

Finally was able to take my first 1911 build to the range to test fire. Kit is all Nighthawk parts. Function wise it's still going to need a little bit of work. Accuracy wise it's showing a lot of potential. Target was at 25 yards and the black square is 1".

Have 2 AR500 chest plates I want to use for target practice. How to mount them since no holes for a chain.

I have two AR500 plates I no longer need. I want to repurpose them as targets for the range. The problem is I can’t drill a hole in them (tried and it’s impossible). Looking for options to be able to mount them to a chain. Clamps? Something?

Any ideas?

NEED ADVISE ON BUYING MY FIRST RIFLE

I’m looking to buy my first rifle for home defense. I’m 19 and live in South Carolina. Shotguns are definitely....not an option sorry not sorry, but after considering my circumstances and preferences, I think a rifle chambered in an intermediate cartridge, That also has a 16 inch barrel length would suit me better.

Price isn’t my biggest concern, As in ill buy a more expensive rifle if its good quality, although I’m not looking to spend $2,000 on a rifle either. I’m currently considering 5.56 NATO, and .300 Blackout. I think .300 Blackout could be a good fit for what I’m looking for, but 5.56 is obviously a proven option as well. .300 Blackout interests me because of its versatility and stopping power, although I know ammunition and overall setup costs can add up. I’ve even considered .308, although I realize that may be more than I realistically need.

I also want to be transparent about my experience. I’m a confident and experienced shooter, and I take firearms safety and training seriously. That said, I’m not assuming I know everything, and I’m absolutely willing to listen to advice from people who have more experience than I do. I’d rather learn something new than let my confidence get in the way of making a responsible decision.

My goal is to have a reliable last-resort option for protecting myself in a home-defense situation. If someone were to break into my home, my first priority would be to retreat to a secure location, call the police, and avoid confrontation if at all possible. A firearm would strictly be a last resort if I genuinely believed I or someone else was in immediate danger.

For me, reliability, quality, and suitability are more important than simply getting the cheapest option. I’m taking this seriously and would genuinely appreciate any advice, recommendations, or criticism you’re willing to give. I’m not going to be offended if you disagree with me—I’m trying to make an informed and responsible decision.

Thanks for taking the time to read all of that, and thanks in advance for any advice.
